Chapter 92: Keep waiting

Hunching down a little, Jane pulled her hair and made her look at her." I am warning for the last ti, Benny. One wrong move and your grandmother will lose your life" throwing her head back, Jane walked out of the room, leaving the poor girl.

Jane had already made clear that she didn’t want any mistakes. Ashley already doubted her, and she didn’t want to give her a chance to prove that all that happened was a plan, not a mistake.

The fierce gaze in Ashley’s eyes still gave her chills. It was clear that she would not let this matter go so quickly. Not after she already doubted her.

Getting in the car, she got a call from Gorge." Did you find the girl?" he asked.

"Yes"

Heaving a relieved sigh, he said," Make sure she doesn’t escape" Gorge was too in this plan, and he didn’t want to make any mistake that would tarnish his entire reputation.

Ending the call, Jane drove back to her apartnt.

Ashley was waiting for a call from Miley to update her about Mrs. Albert’s safety.

While she was anxious about the older won’s life, she couldn’t stop thinking about those n who took Benny away.

She was just a second late to reach her, or else she would’ve stopped them sohow. Her palm rounded in a fist as she kept thinking about why Benny would be next to her neighborhood.

These days she couldn’t find a clue about her, but today she was so close to her that she couldn’t stop her.

While her mind was busy replaying the morning inside, her phone rang, and he thoughts broke.

Looking at the na on the screen, she composed herself and picked up the call," Hello," she said softly, yet there was a glint of worry in it which didn’t get unnoticed by Tristan.

"Ash," he called her na with love, and the next second, she felt her worries fly away.

"Hmm..." she humd, trying to suppress the loneliness she was feeling without Tristan. Even though it was one day, she still couldn’t help but miss him terribly.

Tristan felt her silence squeeze his heart. If it weren’t that important, he wouldn’t have left her.

"Talk to , Ash. Your silence is killing " he felt helpless suddenly, not finding his wife around him so he could cuddle her the whole ti.

Biting her lower lips, she tried to stay calm but couldn’t and let her emotion flow." I am missing you, Tristan," her voice cracked, making his breath stop for a second.

Ashley wasn’t that weak, but when it ca to her, she would fall vulnerable, allowing her overflowed emotion to wash him away.

Tristan closed his eyes, feeling so helpless. He wanted to leave behind his work and get back with Ashley kissing her until she dropped on her knee. Just one lip lock, and he was tad. She had that power over him.

With a shaky breath, he spoke," Just for today Ash. I promise I will return the following day before you open your eyes."

Tristan wasn’t lying, he was serious when he said those words, enough to halt her emotions.

"I want to see your face the morning I open my eyes," she said with the session that she felt from before.

"I will," he said with a smile and heard her hum again.

It was infrequent for Ashley to show her feeling for him, but whenever she would do that, he would find him falling hard for her. He would feel his knees falling weak with every word and action she took toward him.

Tristan felt relaxed when he sensed her mood back to normal, and she sounded better than before as they continued talking.

After much talk, he finally ended the call, and his smile dropped looking at the man in front of him.

"What?..." he asked the old man staring at him like he had seen so ghost.

"You were never like this Tristan," the man said.

"That’s because I never gave you the chance to know

that better grandpa" Tristan ignored his statent and saw Dante fu.

"Just like your mother, even she doesn’t give

the chance to get close to her" Dante’s eyes dimd at the ntion of his daughter.

It had been years since he last talked to her because she had clearly stated not to get close to her. She never accepted him as her father because she loathed his work.

Grace hated the underworld, and her father was a mafia. He had his hands stained with the blood of the people against him. Just like her mother, even she didn’t want to acknowledge him.

Tristan looked at the old getting silent at the ntion of his daughter, which made him sad. He knew his mother and his relationship wasn’t that great, or she didn’t even call him her father.

He tried many ways to get close to her, but she never gave him a chance. Like a stranger, she would treat him, and just like a lonely father, he would keep an eye on his daughter to keep her safe from his enemies.

Even after her mother passed away, she still didn’t get back to him because she wanted to be true to her mother’s words of never getting involved with his world.

Sera always wanted a life without violence for her daughter, and even after keeping herself away from him, her life was threatened. That one mont changed the static of their relationship.

"I think you should give her so ti" Tristan could feel the helplessness in Dante’s eyes. All his life, he was longing for his family but never got the chance to be with them.

"How long do I have to keep waiting? My life isn’t that long" Dante was resting on his bed while he looked at Tristan’s complicated face.

Dante’s life was that long, and this was why he took Tristan under his wing, allowing him to handle all his work. He was the sole heir of his empire, but no one knew him except for his father and Dante.

If Trevor had never allowed him to et Dante, they wouldn’t have co to know about him. He was thankful to Trevor, who saw his longing for his daughter and grandchildren and let them et him.

Tristan was ten when he first t Dante and found out that he was his grandfather, and from that day, he never forgot the man.

Grace never told them about her father, but Trevor... he didn’t want to hide anything from him. Gwen and Gavin were small to understand his words, but Tristan was grown enough to know about him.

He didn’t judge him because he knew the man had a golden heart, and even being the underworld mafia, Dante never indulged himself in wrong work. Yes, he killed people who tried to backstab him or committed cris, but even after that, he couldn’t erase the mafia title from his na. He couldn’t protect his family from his enemies, which led him to live a lonely life.

Heaving a sigh, Dante closed his eyes, knowing he would be dying without nding his relationship with his daughter.

Placing his hand on his, Tristan assured him. He knew it wasn’t easy to win his mother’s heart because he had to do it back then.

When she found him getting involved in the underworld, she had promised he wouldn’t let himself keep any contact with them. That ti he agreed to know that would make her anger drop, and it happened, but little did she know once you step into the world of cri, there is no turning back.

He knew Dante was suffering from a disease that couldn’t be cured, which was why he didn’t want to leave him alone.

Dante looked at Tristan, spacing out, and tried to ease the suffocating air between them." When do you plan to introduce your wife to ."

His words caught his attention, and he shook his head," There is no way she would know about

being in the underworld."

Tristan only agreed to keep their relationship secret for one of these reasons. He didn’t want anyone to know about Ashley. She would be safe only if she were kept away from it.

"I can understand your worry but wouldn’t she sohow learn about it? You can’t hide for too long, won’t you?"

Dante could tell he loved his wife very much and would do everything he could to protect her. But how long he wished to keep her in the dark.

Tristan was just like his mother, who loved his dear one more than their life, and in that process, they made them their weakness. In her case, she made her mother her weakness and broke all the ties with her father.

But with Tristan, he couldn’t say because he could see the extre love he carried for his wife, and Dante wanted her to beco his strength, not weakness.

Tristan gave him a helpless look, and Dante confird that he didn’t want her to leave him once she found out who it was apart from the great business tycoon Tristan knight.

Patting on his lap, he tried to ease his uneasiness," Take your ti but don’t keep it hiding for too long and let her find it from soone else. She will feel betrayed"

Dante gave him a content smile giving him a piece of advice for the long run in a relationship.
