He shared that the God of Light had communicated with the prophet of the Thunderspear tribe, delivering a grave ssage.
"The god of light foretold of a calamity soon to descend upon the Northern Frontier, manifesting in the form of a dinsion. He warned that the appearance of this dinsion would bring about significant changes to the Northern Region, transforming the world of the northerners beyond recognition," Ilyan narrated, his voice steady, ensuring everyone could grasp the gravity of the situation.
"He emphasized that if this dinsion was allowed to persist, its influence would spread like a plague, not just affecting the frontier but also reaching the outer and inner regions, and eventually, even the divine capital would not be spared."
For a while, the people who were ignorant of this sensational news up until this point couldn't believe it.
There were two reasons behind their disbelief.
Firstly, in their mind, the kingdom was the strongest fortress under the heavens.
Despite being at war with the Durcal Empire for countless years, the kingdom had only grown, its reach extending outwards.
So how could its existence be threatened?!
Their mindset was pitifully similar to Queen Victoria's. When she first heard this news, she had the sa thought.
And had dismissed the ramblings of the prophet as re nonsense.
Secondly, in the last two decades, the God of Light has only spoken directly to the pope. However, there have been rare instances in history where he communicated directly with his followers, the last of which occurred half a century ago.
Those individuals who had heard the voice of God were bestowed with the title of prophet.
A prophet had appeared on the frontier, declaring the impending arrival of this unforeseen calamity.
There was no tangible evidence to validate the prophet's claims, leaving room for doubt about the authenticity of the ssage.
Nevertheless, when it was a matter of life and death, one could afford to take chances!
Ilyan explained how the news had created ripples throughout the kingdom.
The nobles from both the inner and outer regions advocated for imdiate action, urging that the matter be taken seriously.
In the divine capital, a coalition of ministers and a robust line of officials from the Queen's court submitted a petition, imploring that the words of the prophet be given due consideration.
Even the church, despite its initial confusion and concern over why the god of light had chosen not to communicate directly with the pope on such a crucial matter, adopted a semi-neutral stance, avoiding unnecessary commotion and urging the Queen to do what was necessary for her people.
"As a result, our Queen, heeding the will of her people and the counsel of her advisors, issued a decree that has marked the beginning of a new era in our kingdom," Ilyan stated.
He went on to describe the monuntal change that the decree had brought about.
Unlike before, when rewards for closing dinsions and completing dungeons were solely granted by the world's will, individuals would now also receive compensation from the kingdom.
It was clarified, though, that this incentive program was applicable only to dungeons and dinsions situated near the frontier.
To be more specific, only completing dungeons and dinsions found in the Wysmire Mountain Range and the Verdant Deepwood Forest would net double rewards. Participating in dungeon clearing or dinsion closing activities in other parts of the kingdom would not yield double rewards.
That being said, the act of closing a lesser dinsion was now associated with a generous array of benefits.
"Anyways, since you returned from closing the lesser dinsion after the decree was issued, it ans that you are entitled to these rewards," Ilyan finished explaining, "They would be rewarded to you in due ti."
Moving forward, he also revealed how much they would be rewarded with.
"Thank God," exclaid the mbers of the expedition group, their faces lighting up with relief as they were promised to be awarded thousands of contribution points upon their return to the Frontier.
With such a substantial amount of points, they could now afford to acquire a cursed artifact or two.
The pervasive feeling of unease that had previously tightened its grip around their hearts now began to dissipate.
Just then, the train pulled up at the station, its carriages filled to the brim. Countless new faces erged, stepping onto the platform with a mixture of excitent and anticipation. They were new faces indeed, unfamiliar to the regulars of the frontier.
Oliver, standing among the crowd, felt a wave of surprise wash over him. His eyes scanned over the newcors, his mind racing to make sense of the situation. With years of living in these lands under his belt, he knew that it was a rarity for people to join the frontier, especially when winter was just around the corner. The harsh conditions and unforgiving weather made it an undesirable ti for new recruits. So, what was happening here?
Val, silent up until now, took in the scene before him. He didn't need long to connect the dots and understand what was unfolding. These people, drawn from various parts of the kingdom, were clearly enticed by the prospect of the double rewards. The decree from the Queen had sparked a fla of interest, bringing them here, to the frontier.
But joining the frontier was not as simple as just showing up. They would have to first pass the trial of fire, a challenging test that would determine their worthiness. Those who failed would be sent back, and their dreams of making quick money and earning glory would be dashed. Only those who pass would be allowed inside.
Not to ntion, neither the forest nor the mountain range was free of anomalies and devils. And their appearance would beco a regular occurrence in the winter.
If they were ignorant about it, then they were simply foolish to co here.
But if they knew yet still dared to co, then they were really brave.
Val spared them only a fleeting glance, wondered who among them was foolish and who was brave, before he looked away.
