It was Salvatore that had entered the apartnt but it was the condition that he was in, bothered her the most.
Salvatore was not just having droplets of blood on him, he was drenched in blood. The word drenched being ant literally.
In that mont Evelyn realised sothing that made her look away with her eyes lowered to the floor like it was ant to happen when she crossed a figure of power. A figure like the Don of the organisation.
The don who could take her life within a second.
"Evelyn?" Salvatore stopped walking when he saw her figure sitting in the chair of the dining room. "I apologize for my state. I was not aware of you coming back." Or staying.
Salvatore and his father knew better than to enter a room where his mother or his sister were with bloody clothes.
She nodded but did not look at him. That was understandable. She was not ready to look at soone who had blood on his clothes.
"I will be back after changing. If there is sothing specific you want to eat for tonight, tell the butler."
Just as he finished speaking, the butler appeared and bowed in front of them. "Sir, Madam." He said respectfully.
Salvatore did not acknowledge his greeting, but instead went upstairs to change. The butler turned to Evelyn.
"What would you like to have for dinner, madam?" He stepped to hear and stood at the end of the table, completely on the other side of where Evelyn was sitting.
"Nothing," she answered numbly, "just cook sothing that the don likes."
Evelyn heard the footsteps of the butler who was probably walking away now. It hit her about what she had done.
Not only had Evelyn talked aggressively to his brother, which was an offence since his brother was his blood family ever. Evelyn, also considered the fact that she was safe under the protection of the family or not.
Those were the two events on the basis of which she could be thrown out of the family and literally onto the road with nothing in her hands.
She felt the frustration built inside her. How could she have forgotten sothing so glaringly obvious.
What if Lucas shared her concerns and attitude to anyone in the family? It was sothing to be scared of because if Evelyn did not have any kind of protection on her, she was basically being handed over to the wolves very willingly.
Evelyn needed the protection for herself. She needed the protection to survive in the world.
She heard the familiar footsteps of the don climbing down the stairs which made her stand up in respect for him, sothing that she had done for the first few days that she had arrived here.
Salvatore slowed down and eventually stopped walking when he saw her standing up for him. "Sit down, Evelyn. You do not have to do that ever again." He firmly told her in a strict voice. It was absurd for her to do so.
Evelyn nodded imdiately but did not sit down which only confused him.
He waited for a few seconds but Evelyn did not move. "Evelyn, are you not going to sit down?" Salvatore narrowed his eyes very slightly when he saw her nod and take her seat after he questioned her.
What was going on about?
"Coffee." Salvatore glanced at the butler telling him what he wanted for them. It was far from dinner ti or even evening snacks.
Evelyn quietly sudden looking at the windows fully aware of the fact that Salvatore was watching her.
"Is it sothing that you want to ask , Evelyn?"
She gulped. So Lucas had told Salvatore about what had conspired in between them.
"Nothing don," she answered very cautiously. Evelyn tried not to let any kind of thought inside her mind show on her face.
"Just say it," he leaned forward and kept his folded arms on the edge of the table. "I know there is sothing going on in your mind, that is very clear from your expressions."
It was one mistake to yell at the brother of the Don and it was completely other to actually dare and lie to him.
If she had already made one mistake and she was to live with it forever. Evelyn chose not to make another one.
"I was wondering why you have a wall made up of majority of glass." She spoke honestly with her heart beating inside her chest to very quickly. "I thought you would just make it up with bricks this ti."
"I could have," Salvatore muttered as he turned his face to look outside the window, " but I have also noticed a certain soone who loves to look outside for the view."
Evelyn stilled and looked at him. There was no way that he could know that now, could he? But then again she was aware of the caras inside the house.
"Also this ti the glass, which I previously is used to but not be broken into, is bulletproof. And the extended wall is going to hold onto it making it more steady than before." He pointed to the extended wall from all sides. "Anything else that you might want to know?"
Still staring at the extended part of the wall Evelyn shook her head. There was really nothing that she wanted to know now.
It was then that the butler brought in the coffee along with pastries. He said everything up on the table and between them before leaving them alone once again.
Evelyn took one sip of a coffee and closed her eyes. Sotis it was a drink that could bring one relief.
"You were not hurt," Salvatore asked her, "were you?"
Evelyn inside him the shake of ahead and before she could open her mouth the left doors pinged and the butler arrived in front of it.
"Should I open it, sir?" The butler stared at the don while the left was awaiting for confirmation to be opened.
Salvatore nodded.
It was a gaurd who stood there with a bouquet of chocolates in his hand and handed them over to the butler who brought them to the dining table. They were kept closed towards evelyne.
"For ?" She pointed to herself and asked.
The butler nodded and handed her the note that was in between two chocolates.
Evelyn licked her lips. She was aware of the presence of the Don as she opened the note.
