"What business?" Evelyn asked, listening in a little. What business did they have to talk about?
"Well," Alexis sighed, " As you know, people like that do not have a background like yours, do not get accepted imdiately into the organisation even as a wife. Getting accepted as the donor of the organisation was far thought."
"It did not help when I found out that Angelo had no hurries in introducing to the world either."
Oh shit.
"it was my mother-in-law who helped navigate through her responsibilities before passing them on to . Agatha was of great help too. Now I want to pass it on to you and I know it is going to be easier for you to stand your ground as it was compared to mine."
"Wait!" The hair on the back of her neck stood up. "you are passing your responsibilities?"
The responsibilities with nothing as compared to the Don, leader of the organisation but they were sothing. She was going to have people That were going to co to her asking for solutions for the problems, complaints, conflicts, sothing she had never been through before.
She was going to act as a charge and sotis as a referee as and when required while portraying to be the ideal wife by the side of a mad man.
Shit was about to blow up and hit the fan.
Alexis nodded with a teasing frown. "Yes, why not? How long are you going to sit in the house with nothing on your hands? I understand the responsibility of the daughter but you have to get out and do sothing otherwise you’re going to be crazy."
Evelyn’s mouth dried up. "no one was... No one had the responsibility in my father’s organisation." But there was also the fact that she had not ntioned. The fact was her father’s organisation was far smaller as compared to the one that she had married into. It was a given that they actually had soone portraying the role for the ladies given that the number was quite large.
"Even then, What are you worried for?" Alexis casually sipped her wine. "I’m not handing over the responsibilities to you right now, I’m going to help you understand them before asking you to take over. Stop acting like it’s sothing I’m going to give you this very second."
"Oh," Evelyn blinked. "Huh." That was better. It would have been more if Alexis had told her this in the first place.
"Why do you want to do it all of a sudden?" Evelyn could not help but wonder. "We never talked about this before."
"Actually, now that you ntion it, we have never talked before." Alexis smacked her lips, "if you’d let , I would like to change that."
"You do?" Surprised, she voiced it out. " Why does it feel like you wanted to do it for soti?"
Alexis grinned. "I have. Says it or could only manage to make stay away for so long. We had to sit down one day and talk, this might be it."
Evelyn thought over it for a mont, before shaking her head and grinning back. She picked up her glass containing the wine before tilting it into the direction of her mother-in-law, "to new beginnings then."
"To new beginnings."
******
Evelyn laughed loudly, almost making everyone aware that she was half drunk at this point.
"Really?" She gaped. "That happened with Angelo?"
"Uh huh," Alexis sighed blissfully. "There have been playful tis. Less in number two the difficult ones but I rember all of them."
"What about the hot tis?" Everyone told everyone the happy tis they had seen with their family mbers, but it was also important to know where they found the hardships.
Alexis kept a smile on her face but shook her head. "Those were faced in between and my husband. You are not allowed to know that. However, I can tell you this. Salvatore is not the sa as Angelo."
"He was in the presence of his grandparents who felt it his mind with thoughts that... were," she gulped and appeared to find a better word, "I am not a follower of God but, they were sinful."
Sinful? That was certainly a big word to be used in the world of cri that they lived in.
"And Salvatore?"
"I would say that he did not have entirely healthy relationships, and Angelo and I did fight each other frequently but he turned out to be an entirely different boy." Alexis smirked and chuckled, "Have you ever noticed that he has always been the one to white confrontations where he cannot use a gun?"
"What?" Evelyn blinked.
Alexis nodded. "he will always exit the room if you ever fall into an argunt with him. If you cannot control his words, his anger, he would tuck his tail between his legs and run."
Evelyn reviewed everything before nodded. "Maybe, I have never noticed it until now."
"Good," Alexis’s eyes sharpened, " don’t you dare say that in front of him."
"No," she gave Alexis a quick shake of the head, "I won’t."
This woman could definitely turn into a Mumma bear from my mama hen whenever the situation called for it. That was actually understandable, being Donna she actually had the power to cause so damage.
They leisurely finished up their lunch. Evelyn had no idea when the one bottle of wine that they had ordered, turned into two empty bottles and they were finally on their way ho.
She had a good smile on her face as they went back to the house. Watching every building and car passing them, she smiled and waved at a little baby that was looking outside the window from the car.
The mont the car stopped in front of the house, Salvatore’s car stopped right behind her and he ca out to open her door.
"Had fun?" He asked her for a smile before it turned into a frown. "You are drunk." He said with distaste but Evelyn reached to his ear and whispered,
"But I am ready to ride you."
Within seconds, her world had turned upside down and she was being carried into the house by Salvatore.
