"I want my Evelyn back." He murmured, touching her skin and making her lean into it. "And I will have my Evelyn back." He vowed, making her close her eyes and helplessness

"I am still the sa Evelyn," she argued softly, love in the touch of his fingers on her. "I have not changed."

He humd loudly, sothing he seems to be doing a lot more recently.

Reaching over to her hand, he leaned back and pulled her towards him.

Evelyn yelped as she found herself in his lap to the yank of her arm. The mont her thighs touched his, her eyes widened briefly and she had a sharp intake of breath.

This was not good.

Keeping a control of her, in fact over herself when he was in one room with her was difficult and now she was touching him. This was much more disastrous than just being in a room with him.

She gulped. "I.."

For a second Evelyn wondered why he had pulled her into his lap and since he had it was obvious that he had done it with a purpose.

So she shifted slightly and sat with her legs dangling from one side.

He sighed and she could feel his eyes on her face. It was a pitiful sigh as if he was exhausted.

For a mont she felt him remove her eyes from her and just as her shoulders were ready to sag with relief, Evelyn felt him hold her waist and pick up only to strangle him.

She gasped in shock, staring at his face with wide eyes. "Salvatore!"

He chuckled, "what?" He taunted. "It was you who said that has not changed at all."

" I-I," she stamred as she stared at him in horror. This position did not bring her good mories and it got harder to control herself, sothing Evelyn would rather not have.

"What?" His eyes narrowed at her in the slightest, "you do know that you have changed a lot, Evelyn." Said he as his eyes moved lower and settled on the ribcage below her breasts.

"Even through the clothes you wear, I can tell that you have lost so weight." Salvatore’s eyes shot up to her eyes, "and that is not healthy weight that you’ve shed."

Could he?

She shrugged it off, not playing into the ga.

"Marcello has brought to my knowledge that you apparently tried to kidnap him," Salvatore’s eyes turned sharp for a second and his grip on her tightened, "let’s not try doing that again. Mistakes that should not be repeated."

As much as his grip on her thigh hurt, it also brought sothing that Evelyn was not willing to admit out loud.

The rough and harsh skin of his hand turned her own just as much as sitting on his thighs did.

She nodded to whatever he said. He had clearly forgotten what he had said but nevertheless nodded.

Even though she had a good height and long legs in front of it all seed so small. Like she was a little girl who could not move past the height of 5 feet and no inches.

Salvatore tilted his head to the side and stared at her, observing thoroughly. "Why did you choose to run away?"

His eyes moved to her body as he continued, "that was a pathetic attempt in the morning. Anyone who would have ever thought about it in life would never take enough cash, the correct route that would make sure they stay hidden, better fake identities and nas that seem normal." He chuckled, "Catherine Vancouver is the stupidest na I have heard."

Heat touched her cheeks when he said that. Catherine Vancouver was the first thing that she could think of and maybe because there was a picture of Vancouver behind the man’s desk that was making fake identities.

Catherine had been the na of a maid and Vancouver ca from that picture. Might not have been the brightest idea but is for sothing that she could co up with that could not even remotely co near her family.

"I never planned to run away." She revealed. "It was the circumstances that held the best thing I could do was to run away."

Being thrown down from the staircase of her house told her that she was never going to be saved there. Who was it? She did not know because whenever and turned back there was no one standing on the top of the stairs.

No one ca when they had her cries. Evelyn was sure that she had cried aloud enough for one of them at least to hear her.

The girls were mute not deaf and Marco should have been there but he was not. Angelo was supposed to co after dinner but even he did not co to Salvatore... God knew where Salvatore was.

No one helped her when she and her baby were on the brink of death. No one helped her build her child and slipped away into the darkness forever. No one knew what was happening and Evelyn was sure that they could hear everything.

"What circumstances were those?" He questioned very easily, making her anger spike up.

"They," she said very slowly before getting up from his lap and clearing down at him standing straight, "the circumstances he talked of over when I have fallen down the stairs or rather have been pushed. Do you know how it felt? Do you know how much I get and how loud? Yet no one ca for Salvatore. Are you telling that in a house that back, Marco could not hear soone yelling?"

"Soone must have," he agreed with a nod of his head. "In fact, I will be taking this up with Marco the mont I see him tomorrow."

"Will you?" Evelyn repeated and scoffed. " What is the point of taking it up with Marco now when the child said I was supposed to give birth to, is long dead and cold in her grave?" She spat.

"Why did he not co when he could clearly hear yelling and in pain? He could hear easily when the door opened yet he could not hear soone yelling?"

"If you want to make assumptions on his behalf then I can do it." He offered nonchalantly. "Maybe he was in the bathroom or maybe he was taking a shower which delayed his reactions or maybe he had his earphones on."

He smiled, "many possibilities are there, Evelyn but there’s only one person that can answer that correctly and that is Marco."

He stood up and buttoned his jacket but did not make any movents to leave rather just continue to look at her.

"I understand where that anger cos from. I also understand that you seek justice which I will provide to you and it could have played out sooner had you not chosen to run away."

Evelyn did not miss the slide taunt he sent her way.

"Marco will be taken care of," he assured har and Evelyn could feel that he was not lying. Given that he was the boss of an organization that deals with organized cri or on a daily basis, she knew when he promised sothing out of sincerity and when he did not.

"I did not want to run away," Evelyn admitted, folding her arms in front of her chest, suddenly feeling defensive. "I would have never run away. I would have rather trusted your judgnt but one act.."

"That one act made you feel insecure and unsafe.’ Salvatore completed the sentence for her. "But that is not good enough.’

Her head snapped towards him, especially at the words he chose to speak. "What?" She muttered, hoping that she had her him wrong.

On the contrary to high thinking, Salvatore nodded.

He stepped closer towards her and Evelyn stood rooted to her spot, suddenly feeling incapable of moving away.

The way he stared at her and right into her soul sohow made her soul imprisoned by his.

Coming closer enough, he wrapped his hand around neck, squeezing it to the point where she could feel the restriction of air.

"You," he growled lightly, making her whimper. Her hands reached for his wrist trying to take it off but Savlvatore did not even feel it.

"I loved you, Evelyn."

Her monts halted.

But he did not stop.

He growled right in front of her face letting His anger get the best of him, "I do not care about going underground and whatever the fucknit was. What I cared about was you left ," he spat and she flinched.

"It happened once, Evelyn," his voice dripped slightly, "it happened once and that was enough for to learn my lesson."

The grip on her neck tightened and made her stand up straighter and fear grip her.

"This ti you will not have the option of running away." The hand from her neck disappeared, making her sigh in relief and take a huge intake of breath.

"Rember that," he patted her cheek a little forcefully before moving out of the room and slamming it shut.
