At once, Monica knew the discussion was over. The only party that could interrupt the couple's private mont had arrived, and Monica didn't try to fight it. Everything Khan had built depended on the Thilku Empire, so he had to address it.

Monica watched as Khan struggled for a second, and that hesitation ward her heart. Even when the world was on the verge of ending, Khan still tried to treasure those intimate monts. It didn't matter whether they were arguing or having sex. Khan still wished to prioritize Monica.

However, the two weren't simple kids in love anymore. Heavy duties weighed on their heads, and countless responsibilities connected them to thousands of lives. Both Khan and Monica had to prioritize their domain before indulging in their company's pleasure.

"We'll talk once I return," Khan sighed, rubbing the corners of his eyes. "I'm sorry for not calling you, but my decision is final."

Monica watched Khan avoid her gaze and suppressed a scolding. She had already forgotten about the matter. She actually knew and understood that Khan needed ti to process his decision since she was in the sa situation. Yet, Monica couldn't steal his ti to reassure him.

"I'm sorry about earlier," Khan apologized. "I hope you know you were never in danger. My mana wouldn't allow it."

Of course, Monica knew. She knew better than anyone else. If anything, she blad herself for her instinctive fear. Monica would rather condition herself to withstand Khan's energy than criticize the power the universe had forced him to obtain.

"And," Khan muttered, lowering his head as he placed his palm on the dented door. "It's not your fault. You didn't do anything wrong. I'm just incompatible with the Global Army."

Monica felt warm once again. She disagreed with Khan's statent but understood his intentions. The two had never clarified that point, but both knew. Monica was Khan's anchor to humankind, and he wanted to prevent any idea of failure from appearing in her mind.

"Khan," Monica called, approaching Khan before he could leave the ship. "Be careful."

Monica smiled when Khan finally looked at her. He tried to hide it, but Monica saw the guilt behind his glowing eyes, and she couldn't leave it alone. She knew he was blaming himself, and it was her job to reassure her idiotic scoundrel.

"Everything will be okay," Khan said, reaching for Monica's cheek, "And I'll fix it if it isn't."

Countless words climbed through Monica's throat, threatening to make it explode. The couple needed a day-long intimate talk, but the universe kept getting in the way. Nothing Monica said would stick now, either, so she opted for what the two did best.

Khan looked almost surprised when Monica leaned in for a kiss, but her smile grew brighter after the gesture. Her lips had fished out one of Khan's warst expressions, a face she had long since fallen in love with. That wasn't much, but Monica couldn't do more for now. "Co back soon," Monica uttered before failing to refrain from adding sothing else. "Everything will be fine as long as you co back."

Monica's attempts to hide the deeper aning behind her words failed. She could occasionally keep secrets from Khan, but the mont was too emotional to do so. Still, Khan couldn't address it. He simply didn't have the ti, and Monica stepped back to let him go. Monica hid behind the door's side when Khan left the ship. Voices reached her ears, but she refused to co out in the open, leaning on the tal wall to clear her mind.

The two were similar in so of their worst aspects. Like Khan, Monica blad herself for the current strange atmosphere. She still thought she was right, but the worried face Khan had shown after his outburst angered her.

'That big idiot,' Monica cursed in her mind. 'Can't he stop blaming himself for every single thing?'

Monica knew that Khan would rather have his limbs chopped than see a single bruise appear on her, and they had appeared many tis. It was unavoidable. Monica was comparatively frail, and the couple couldn't hold back during their passionate mont. Monica wouldn't allow it since that would make her unsuitable for Khan.

Nevertheless, Monica had to admit things had worsened after Senerth's mission. Khan wasn't exactly different. He was more of whatever he was made of, and Monica had begun to struggle to keep up.

In the past, Monica only needed a look to understand what Khan was thinking. However, recently, she had occasionally caught him making faces she didn't recognize. Khan's gaze seed both lost and extrely focused at tis, inspecting details Monica couldn't even start to comprehend.

That would still be fine if Monica weren't among the inspected details. It was rare, but she had caught Khan staring at her, studying things that had nothing to do with her butt or mana. Moreover, his gaze had carried an inexplicable sadness, and the universe had yet to give Monica ti to ask what it ant.

It didn't help that Khan's political situation was complicated beyond reason now. Monica knew they needed a long holiday, but that wasn't possible, and each of their decisions would involve countless parties. Their status seed to have tainted the purity of their love, and things couldn't beco simpler anymore.

'When did all of this beco so complicated?' Monica wondered, reminiscing about her ti in the Harbor. Those problems looked so simple now, but she couldn't complain. In a way, Monica had pushed for the current situation.

'I wonder,' Monica thought. 'Did you face the sa problems with Liiza?'

Monica's struggle resembled Khan's initial situation in Nitis. She was a human in love with an alien, interacting with strange customs and unorthodox politics. Ideally, she would imitate what he had done, following his steps, but she had already failed at that, and not for lack of trying.

Monica had first-row seats to Khan's alien teachings, but her brain refused to accept them. The living proof of those techniques' power lay under her in bed almost every night, but she had failed tis and tis again to escape the limits of her human education. Monica didn't know why, but she couldn't see the mana as anything else than a tool.

'Get your shit together,' Monica ordered herself. 'He has never cared about any of that and is probably about to do sothing dumb again.'

Thinking that, Monica took a deep breath and pushed away her dark thoughts. She tidied her casual but fancy clothes and calmly exited the ship, but the scenery waiting for her managed to halt her steps.
