Reorganizing troops in the face of a universal threat was no easy endeavor, and the sa went for arranging a eting among existences that defied reason.

Luckily for Rodney, he was a new General with relatively limited power. His force only accounted for the few criminals he had managed to gather and arm on the spot, and many had also died when the experintal fuel ultimately lost to the True Chaos.

Moreover, Rodney wasn’t the only General on the scene. His feats during the battle had been exemplary, but the news had yet to spread, so his peers and superiors took care of the more ti-consuming matters, freeing him earlier than expected.

Of course, a person in Rodney’s position was never truly free. His many machinations, both political and not, could keep him busy for years. Even if the interspecies eting had yet to happen, he could prepare for countless situations, but sothing else ended up claiming his thoughts.

The alien-lover’s return was bound to shake the very foundation of basically everything, but Rodney could only think of what that ant for soone specific.

That was why Rodney headed back into the desert after donning a new military uniform, but the scene in the distance forced him to halt his steps.

Sohow, an actual Aduns had appeared on Earth. That spot in the desert had also beco crowded, featuring way too many dark-blue people that Rodney would rather not face.

Also, the person Rodney was looking for wasn’t there, and he could guess where she was. Actually, finding her didn’t take long. He just had to look further into the desert to find her talking with the probably most recognizable man in the universe.

Now, Rodney knew that would have happened. He also understood how necessary that reunion was. Miss Solodrey needed that talk to get so closure.

Nevertheless, Rodney also knew Miss Solodrey would get hurt in the process. It was unavoidable, really, and she would take everything upon herself again to avoid being a hindrance when bigger problems were at play.

That was the kind of admirable woman Miss Solodrey was.

Still, Rodney didn’t like that. He didn’t like it one bit. Matters of love were complicated and often unfair, but Rodney couldn’t help but despise how that specific situation would end. Miss Solodrey simply deserved better.

However, Rodney also realized he was quite powerless there. He wasn’t close enough, or at all, to Miss Solodrey to improve her mood. If anything, he was still classified as a strange situation that Miss Solodrey had yet to decide how to handle.

It didn’t help that Rodney wasn’t exactly good with what the alien-lover seed to excel at. He was crafty, his true thoughts and emotions shrouded under layers upon layers of lies, ploys, and pretenses.

Rodney was even rather inexpressive due to his extensive training in his unique elent. Still, he never blad nor hid behind it. That was his character, and he played it to perfection.

Yet, despite knowing Rodney couldn’t do any good there, he didn’t turn back. That pointless and irrational hesitation was unusual for soone like him, but his feet still didn’t move.

It was strange, really. Rodney had never lacked won, but Miss Solodrey managed to stir sothing he didn’t think possible.

Rodney was the most surprised of them all, too. He obviously believed he recognized Miss Solodrey’s value better than anyone else in the universe, but that single dinner with her had left him speechless.

It was even hard to pinpoint what actually caused that. Miss Solodrey’s grace and elegance were indeed unmatched, but plenty of won could co close. The sa went for sheer beauty, manners, and political prowess, but no one seed to have all that simultaneously and with such mastery.

Recalling the few tis Rodney managed to make Miss Solodrey chuckle deepened whatever that was, but there was sothing else.

As perfect as Rodney’s persona was, nothing worked with that incredible woman. She saw right through him effortlessly, as if her brain ca equipped with a human behavior translator of so sort.

Ti passed throughout that hesitation, eventually bringing a change in the scene in the distance. The caped, more-alien-than-human man suddenly vanished, leaving Miss Solodrey alone in the sand.

That was Rodney’s chance to do sothing. His ntal machinations only saw problems and failure, but his figure didn’t turn. Actually, his feet began to move forward without a plan, which couldn’t be more uncharacteristic for him.

However, the world in Rodney’s eyes abruptly spun and changed. His lungs failed to draw any air, and an almost unbearable pressure fell on his body, attempting to make him faint.

Luckily, that strange, sudden event was short-lived. Everything returned to normal soon enough, allowing Rodney to inspect his surroundings, only to see nothing but clear skies in every direction.

Of course, that wasn’t all. Soone else was with Rodney, holding him in the air by his collar, and he didn’t even need to look through the blue light shining on him to uncover his identity.

Truth be told, that was rather predictable. Rodney had expected sothing like that to happen once he and the alien-lover ended up in the sa room, or planet.

Rodney had even prepared for the event, devising all kinds of witty responses and sharp lines that would stab that emotional leader right where it hurt the most.

Those obviously were last resorts. Rodney’s main strategy was to stick to politics, knowing Prince Khan wouldn’t kill him for no reason as long as he remained useful.

Still, Rodney only managed to play the first part of that strategy to perfection. He was before a superior entity, soone who could very well be humankind’s next evolutionary step or doom, but he showed no fear.

The problems started when Rodney opened his mouth since he couldn’t help but stray away from all his plans, saying sothing irrational.

"Did you hurt her again?" Rodney asked, surprising himself, but also keeping his stance as firm as possible to avoid showing any weakness in the face of what he knew was basically a god, or a monstrous calamity.
