"Doctor White," Carlos exclaid, mustering the strength to turn and face the other hooded figure in his crew. "I was just jesting. You know how n are among themselves."

Carlos was all smiles, but his mind raged in fear. He had many reasons to be scared of the other hooded figure in his crew, but most were instinctive, and all his crewmates shared that sentint. Only the easy-going pilot and husband seed immune to that chilling presence.

'Of all the doctors they could recomnd ,' Carlos cursed in his mind. 'Why did it have to be such a scary woman?'

As a general rule, crews inside spaceships knew never to ss with doctors. They held a privileged role, especially in those environnts. Carlos actually had to consider himself lucky for having found one at such a low price.

Yet, on top of that, Doctor White was special. She wasn't too well-versed in modern dicine, but her potions and ointnts were extrely effective. Also, she had another priceless quality for those environnts, and she was holding it in her hands.

The hooded woman looked identical to the hooded man. She wore the sa clothes, mask, and shades but wielded a fuming cup in her hands, and its intoxicating scent reached Carlos' nostrils, almost making him drool.

Booze was a luxury inside spaceships. Those narrow environnts rarely had enough room for anything superfluous, so many crews gave up on that entirely. Any amount of alcohol would vanish in a few days anyway, so it was pointless to bring it.

However, Doctor White seed able to create booze out of thin air, and a good one at that. She still had to use so supplies to concoct those drinks, but the trade-off was completely worth it.

"I heard you had woken up," The hooded woman explained. "So, I thought you wanted a drink before the last batch ended. Still, it seems you aren't thirsty today."

"You are correct as always, Doctor White," Carlos awkwardly chuckled.

"How kind of you, Carlos," Doctor White replied, her voice sounding happier, but Carlos didn't let it trick him. "I guess I won't have to get creative once your thirst returns."

Carlos smiled but didn't say anything. Doctor White was the only subordinate who called him by his na, but he didn't care. Anything was better than fearing any dicine or drink she gave him.

Doctor White stopped minding Carlos. She crossed the bridge, placing her fuming cup on the first available spot before approaching the pilot's seat. Carlos was in the way but promptly moved away to create a path for her.

"Wife," The pilot called, letting go of the steering wheel to welco Doctor White onto his lap.

"I'm cold," Doctor White complained, her sweet tone almost cute.

"We'll go to bed in a bit," Blue promised. "Carlos just has to finish punishing for waking him up."

A chill ran down Carlos' spine. He didn't want to be involved in that situation nor earn Doctor White's wrath, but she seed to have forgotten about his presence.

"It's never a bit with you," Doctor White scolded, but Carlos could almost swear she was flirting with Blue. The latter also chuckled, seemingly confirming that guess.

"Stay here then," Blue said, placing his head on Doctor White's while reaching for the steering wheel again.

Doctor White simply yawned and snuggled closer to Blue. It was unclear whether she was about to fall asleep, and Carlos didn't dare to check or interrupt that process. He had tried that the first ti the married couple had climbed on his ship, and he still regretted it to this day.

If anything, Carlos felt glad soone could keep the scary Doctor White in check. She almost looked docile when she was with Blue, which was one of the reasons why Carlos held his pilot in such high regard.

Carlos knew he had been forgotten, so he planned to give the two hooded figures so privacy. Yet, sothing suddenly blinked on one of the screens hanging above the control desk, and his pilot didn't hesitate to explain the issue.

"Boss?" Blue called. "Do you rember when I said I couldn't predict what the universe can throw at us?"

"Yes?" Carlos frowned, stepping closer to the control desk since he understood sothing was off.

"A storm of asteroids is flying our way," Blue revealed. "B-class danger zone. It will be upon us in less than two minutes."

"What do you an by two minutes?" Carlos gasped. "How could our scanners miss sothing like that?"

"I told you our scanners were shit," The pilot laughed, unfazed by that deadly occurrence. "They probably didn't spot anything because the danger zone lacked a mana signature."

Carlos couldn't find the strength or ti to curse. The ship didn't belong to him. He had taken it through a relatively cheap loan, which ant many of its functions were subpar. However, two minutes were too short to regret past decisions.

"Can we dodge it?" Carlos asked, but tinkering with the control desk quickly provided a hopeless answer.

"With this ship?" Blue casually wondered. "We'd be lucky if we managed to turn by the ti the asteroids reach us."

The situation looked so hopeless that Carlos gave up on holding back his ntal curses. His vessel was big and spacious but bulky. It was a rescue ship designed to respond to distress signals or plunder valuable items from crash sites. It was far from agile, but the universe had put it against a storm of asteroids now.

"Take this seriously!" Carlos cried, glaring at the married couple calmly resting on the pilot's seat. "What do we do now? Can we get away from it?"

"I don't know about away, Boss," Blue considered, "But through might be doable."

Carlos feared what those words ant but only focused on the hope they carried.

"Do it, Blue!" Carlos ordered. "I don't care how, but get us through this."

"I need your genetic signature, Boss," The pilot comnted. "The only way to give us a chance is to overclock the engines and tinker a bit with the other safety asures."

Carlos didn't hesitate to summon a holographic nu and plant his hand under it. The control desk quickly recognized his genetic signature, which he announced with a single word. "Done!"

"Thank you, Boss," Blue exclaid before activating a general communication channel. "Warning to all crewmbers. Secure yourself anywhere with safety belts and hold strong. We are in for a bumpy ride."

Carlos' eyes widened, but he also hurried toward the first available seat on the bridge, strapping safety belts over his chest to secure his position.

"Don't forget to put all your hopes and prayers in ," The pilot continued. "After all, if I can't get us through this, you are all dead."

Carlos wanted to shout to scold his underling, but Doctor White ended up preceding him.

"Don't scare them," Doctor White scolded. "I'll have to work overti to concoct sedatives otherwise."

"Marriage truly sucks the fun out of every catastrophe," Blue dramatically sighed, only for Doctor White to giggle and wrap her arms around his torso.

Carlos didn't know what to think, and the imminent natural disaster prevented him from focusing on the married couple's behavior. He only noticed that Blue hadn't fastened his seatbelt before everything turned upside down.
