Moments after Dante had devoured Micheal, both the emperor and the white haired magister had sprung into action..

The emperor convening a council with the other three domains, he didn’t say much, merely "someone with that ability had appeared" they didn’t need to ask, there was only one ability nobody dared name casually..

The reactions were immediate, representatives were sent, powerful people meant to contain and capture whoever it was that had such a dreadful thing...

But it didn’t stop there, the effect rippled even further...

It didn’t take long before the hall the candidates had occupied to become filled with more than twenty people, each bearing auras that made the very atmosphere groan..

"Lord valen" they greeted on arrival, his reply was merely a passing glance, he didn’t speak, didn’t acknowledge their existence, didn’t even bother asking what so many were doing there...

The crowd watched as Dante repeated the process with Thaddeus..

"It..it really is THAT.."

Horror and apprehension was all that could be seen on their faces, clearly they’d recognized something about Dante’s ability and whatever it was, it wasn’t pretty...

Then came the battle between Dante and the two princes, they watched as he used the same power as the two princes yet on a level that the two simply couldn’t compete with, they watched him play and toy around with them, his manic laughter echoing continuously in their heads..

But it wasn’t until his final move that their faces froze..

The whole realm had trembled violently as the white haired young man pulled back his fist, it was for merely two seconds, but it had happened..

They turned, incredulous, as they looked toward the supervisors and valen, yet they found not an ounce of surprise, it was like they already knew...

When the punch had landed, the entire projection glitched violently, almost getting snuffed out entirely..

The flashing of a bright white light indicated the expulsion of more candidates and this time, the two princes were among..

"Blaze.." the emperor called out softly..

"Father.. I have failed you" the blonde youth hung his head in shame..

The emperor said nothing, merely looked at his son..

"You have done well" was his reply after a lengthy silence..

Attention turning back toward the projection just in Time to catch Dante and Cara disappearing together into an earthen construct.

The emperor’s face twisted even further, nothing felt more shameful than getting cucked in public, even though it was merely an engagement arrangement and nothing had been made official yet, it still felt like eating a pile of dogshit..

Silence returned to the hall as they watched and waited..

The flashing of a brilliant white light indicated the arrival of the candidates..

The moment the light flashed and the candidates reappeared, all eyes immediately snapped towards the earthen structure that had appeared alongside everyone else..

The confident footsteps of someone echoed through the hall as a young man stepped out, his short white hair messy, his topless body carved in a way that’d make the gods jealous, his divine face looking bored as he looked around the room lazily.

Right behind him, a young woman followed, her beautiful face spotting a contented smile, the traces of a bright flush still clearly visible..

The moment they saw them, all the newly arrived expert released their killing intent, they weren’t about to let such danger grow..

Helios Calder more than anyone was burning with more rage, not only could it be possible that this little brat had inherited that being’s abilities, but the little bastard had killed his nephew, embarrassed his son and other nephew,then as if it wasn’t enough, he cucked the pride of the empire, his most talented son, on a public stage.

So yes, he was seething and the moment Dante appeared, he was one of the first to move..

"SEIZE HIM"

But, in their rage and fear, they seemed to have forgotten.

They’d forgotten that this wasn’t their empires where they had the final say, this wasn’t their palaces where they could command rain and wind, they’d forgotten just where they were, in whose presence they stood and it might just cost them dearly.

The moment I heard the order for my capture, I readied myself, pushing Cara behind me as I got ready to unleash all that I had, unwilling to be captured by anyone, yet before they could make a single move..

A deafening cry resounded from the skies..

The entire hall trembled violently just from the sound, almost on the verge of collapse..

A dreadful aura washed over everyone as they froze in place, fear and existential dread coloring their faces..

Even the lofty emperor of the Calder empire had gone pale white..

Something was coming..

It wasn’t long till I found out what..

A massive talon, tipped with sword like claws had pierced through the roof of the hall, peeling it out like a wet bandaid, a blindingly bright golden light shining down, filling the entire hall not with warmth, but with the feeling of a thousand blades placed at our necks..

I looked up and froze..

There, wings ablaze, a golden halo of majestic light above his head, feathers shining a white-gold radiance, beak glinting with a metallic golden hue, his spread wings blotting out the very skies themselves..

His aura felt like the weight of the world itself, it was heavy, all encompassing..

Leo, but this time all traces of the playful slightly annoying griffin I’d come to enjoy arguing with had vanished.

In his place? A regal, majestic beast that radiated all the awe and wonder a divine beast should have, his gaze settled on the crowd within the hall, not an ounce of emotion within, like the gaze of a god looking down on feeble mortals...

Step..

Step...

Soft, authoritative steps drew everyone’s attention..

"I don’t know if I should be amused, or enraged" the voice wasn’t loud, it wasn’t even emotional, just flat, robotic..

"That you had the audacity to make a move durin MY tests.."

Valen came to a stop before me, his back somehow looking massive despite the fact that I was taller than him, a strange warmth radiating off of it..

For the first time in a long while I felt...protected...

"So tell me and depending on your answers, I might decide if your lives are spared or forfeit"
