One inhale, and he knew sothing had changed.
His body felt lighter. Stronger. Like the limits that used to be there... weren’t anymore. His thoughts sharpened, every movent felt cleaner, tighter. Not faster. Not louder. Just better. Like sothing inside had clicked into place.
He didn’t glow. The air didn’t crackle.
But he felt it. And that was enough.
That quiet power in him? Yeah, that part was expected. After all, he’d just devoured a sliver of Fate’s own essence. If that didn’t co with a massive boost, then the cosmos was straight-up rigged.
But what Pyris didn’t expect—what made his brows knit and his chest tighten—was that even a taste of that cosmic force had flung him down a new path entirely.
A path toward becoming soone who could devour Fate itself.
What the hell did that even an?
He didn’t know.
Not yet.
But what he did know was this—
There was sothing inside him now.
A hunger.
Not the kind he could ta with food, sleep, or pleasure. Not even the kind that whispered for power.
This was primordial.
It pooled deep in his core, like a black hole wrapped in velvet. Whispering that he could hypothetically devour an entire realm and still wake up starving.
But—for now—it was controllable. He exhaled sharply, brushing a hand through his hair. "Great. Just what I needed. More unsolvable cosmic puzzles."
The irony wasn’t lost on him.
Here he was—soone ard to the teeth with stolen powers, divine blessings, skills from system, even the system itself.a secrets from a Goddess—and yet he still felt like a rookie compared to the grand sche.
He hadn’t even scratched the surface of what he could do. Hell, he barely played with the power he copied from Ammit, his damn demon wife.
That Essence Devourer skill? Gone. Eaten. Replaced.
Now it was all wrapped up in this Existence Devourer thing.
A power the system itself refused to describe.
Seriously?
He was getting powers that not even the system could define.
He scoffed. "At this point, I might as well start naming my own skill trees."
Still, it was his now. Whatever this was.
His to figure out.
His to shape.
And after the madness of today... after everything that happened with Alexa, with the dream, with the Goddesses watching from their endless thrones?
He’d take control.
Master this hunger.
And rember who the hell he was.
Because—real talk? He was the Champion of Lust.
And lately?
He’d been so obsessed with chasing power, unlocking secrets, making Fate scream... That he’d forgotten what most of his strength was really rooted in.
Not rage.
Not war.
But conquest.
Beauty.
Desire.
Pleasure.
That was his origin.
His mythos.
His calling.
And most of his real strength ca from embracing that. He chuckled to himself, voice low, eyes burning as he looked at the sleeping girl one last ti.
"After today..." he muttered. "I’ll go back to that. Back to ." Finally the day had co where he’d go to his original roots like he’d been praying.
A Champion of Lust wasn’t supposed to live like a monk.
He stood up, stretching his limbs.
No idea how long had passed—but from the distant buzz and soft pulses coming from the tech around the room, he knew:
The ga had launched.
The world had moved.
And it was ti he caught up—with a smile, with power, and maybe with a few goddesses under his arm. He didn’t know how much ti had passed—minutes, maybe more. But probably enough. Enough for the ga to have gone live, for the Mortal Realm to get its first taste of it.
It was out there now.
No going back.
He didn’t care too much about the fine details. Whatever.
The ga was originally built for training—sure, god-defying as hell, but it was still ant to be a tool. Now? Now he wasn’t even sure what the hell it was anymore.
He hadn’t even gotten ti to test it himself before the whole day spiraled into goddess interference, fate ambushes, and Alexa nearly dying. Still—what he did know was that it wasn’t dangerous.
At least not in the way mortals feared.
If anything, it was the opposite.
A useless ga to the powerful, but the greatest hope for even the unawakened. A subtle key in disguise.
Hope disguised as entertainnt.
Training that felt like play.
Of course, its true purpose? Bound to be tangled in a thousand webs of divine complexity. But that was tomorrow’s problem. Today, he had a world to return to. If he’d been asleep for more than thirty minutes, then that was it—the ga’s first test was underway and the Mortal Realm had already felt the ripple.
Perfect. No problem at all.
It was ti to shift back to his main mission for tonight—
But first...
[Ding!
You have failed the Goddess’s Mission!]
Pyris groaned. Oh, right. That mission to stir chaos and shake up the old leaders and their mature Empresses. He’d been halfway there before Alexa’s situation pulled him off-track.
"Well, sue , I was saving lives," he muttered.
Not a problem. He’d find another way to throw a wrench into the gears of power. Chaos wasn’t a one-ti gig.
At that exact mont, a soft sound reached him.
A tiny stir.
Delicate fingers twitched. A breath caught in the air.
And then—
Her golden eyes opened. Deep, dark, and burning like stars soaked in shadows. "...Pyris?" she called softly, her voice laced with worry.
He was already by her side in an instant, holding her before she could even sit up.
"I’m here," he whispered, anchoring her back to reality.
Her body responded with a soft, vibrating hum—like a song.
She didn’t hesitate. She threw herself into his arms, hugging him tight despite the pain lacing her muscles.
"I was so scared," she whispered, her voice breaking. "Scared I would’d leave. That you’d stay out there, alone, carrying all that burden, and I wouldn’t be there—"
He didn’t let her finish.
He just held her closer, stroking her head gently as her tears spilled against his shoulder.
"I’m here," he repeated, firm and warm. And then, with a smirk tugging at his lips, he leaned in and whispered, "Never thought I’d live to see the day Alexa cried for ."
She broke the hug instantly, smacking his chest hard with a scowl.
"Stupid Pyris!"
"Guilty," he chuckled.
After a few monts of her sulking in his arms and him enjoying the peace between their chaos, Alexa finally looked up.
"Let’s go clean up," she said softly.
He nodded and teased. "Yeah? Can’t face the world like this?"
Together, they stood.
Still aching, still recovering.
But together.
And now... now it was ti to step back onto the stage—
Into the play of power that would shake the realms.
