(Asking for monthly passes!)_4 The Bulls were forced into half-court, Dumars used Rodman’s off-ball screen to run towards the top arc beyond the three-point line.
Roger tried to squeeze through, but the screening Rodman deliberately moved a step, knocking Roger to the ground.
The referee’s whistle blew, it was an obvious moving screen that couldn’t be more clear.
Rodman pretended to be innocent in front of the referee, then flashed a wicked smile at Roger, “Be careful not to break a rib.”
Although he got possession of the ball, Roger was fuming.
What made it worse was that Magic failed to capitalize on this possession right after.
Roger intended to go off-ball this round to avoid the double team.
But the Bulls pressed and trapped all the Magic players.
Dumars forced Harper towards the narrow sideline, luring him into the baseline trap just like they did with Roger.
Roger hurried to the free-throw line to receive the pass, Harper, under intense pressure, raised the ball over his head to pass, only to have Rodman smack it away with a slap!
The Magic’s dejected mood hadn’t dissipated when the Bulls followed up with another sharp counterattack.
The defending champions all rushed back, but they ended up being re spectators of Jordan’s slam dunk show.
Rodman pointed to his temple and looked at Harper, “You’re not too bright here, are you?
Falling into a trap like that.
Heh, want to give you another possession?”
Jordan was also trash-talking, “Roger, without Shaq, you’re just a pathetic, helpless little kid, and the entire league knows it.
Go back to the locker room, call your daddy Shaq and tell him to co see .”
In the blink of an eye, the Bulls had pulled ahead by 7 points.
This was their secret to killing off all opposition in the third quarter.
Their defense was extrely aggressive, forcing you into mistake after mistake, missed shots, trampling your dignity, and then trampling it again with a beautiful slam dunk on the other half-court.
They made you relive the pain and inferiority until you broke down ntally.
And this season was the very best the Bulls had played this suffocating defense.
In the two following seasons, it beca difficult for them to exert such defensive pressure due to aging.
By the 97-98 season, this kind of pressing defense had nearly withered away, which is why the record of 72 wins only happened once.
But this Chicago Bulls team, their third-quarter defensive counterattacks, few teams could withstand them!
Roger waved his hand, he decided to handle the ball himself.
This ti as soon as Roger received the ball, he was double-tead by Pippen and Jordan, Roger seized the mont to pass to McKey, but Jordan’s long arms reached out and touched the basketball, tipping it out of bounds.
Another failed offense, Michael Jordan clapped vigorously, “Poor thing, where did you pass the ball to?”
Roger tried to go to the sideline to prepare for the inbound, but Jordan blocked Roger’s path, “You thief, last season’s FMVP should have gone to O’Neal, you’re nothing without him.”
“Back off, Michael.” Roger shouldered past Jordan, causing another physical altercation between the two.
And once such a situation occurs, Rodman would imdiately join in.
He bumped Roger hard, incessantly whispering in his ear, “Hey, ever experienced real pain?
The kind that tears muscles and breaks bones.”
McKey, acting as the bodyguard, imdiately shoved Rodman away, “Get away from him, I’m only saying this once!”
Rodman laughed out loud, spreading his arms, “Co hit ?
You guys don’t dare to strike, what’s the point of yapping away.”
Pippen also stepped into the fray, pointing at McKey’s nose, “Beat it, jerk, what’s it to a nobody like you?”
Harper forcefully brushed away Pippen’s hand, “Scottie, what are you barking at?”
“Interesting, a nobody thinks he’s got the right to talk to ?”
The situation once again escalated into chaos; this was not the first ti today the two teams were at each other’s throats with shoving and cursing.
Thank goodness for the peacemaker Joe Dumars on site, if not for this pacifist, the two sides would have co to blows long ago.
The conflict was finally defused by the efforts of the referees and Dumars, but Rodman, even when separated, was relentless, “As it turns out, you’re just a bunch of tough-talking pansies.
You don’t even dare to co down to the post and bang with , how pathetic.
Roger, how does it feel?
Can’t find any softies to bully today, can you?”
Jordan absolutely adored this guy with the rainbow hair.
If it were Webber, he’d probably have pissed his pants by now.
But look at Dennis, now that’s a real winner!
At that mont, the Magic Team inbounded, Roger feigned receiving the ball on the sideline but quickly cut to the basket.
McKey imdiately stuffed the ball in, and Roger took it and went straight for the hoop, leaping for a reverse slam in the face of Rodman, the only one who had managed to get back to the paint.
Rodman knew he was too late to block, but he wanted to show Roger, so he jumped up violently for the collision.
Little did he know, Roger’s impact was beyond Rodman’s expectation, as Roger, with his back turned, dunked the ball over the Worm with both hands.
Roger even deliberately grabbed the rim, spread his legs, and sat right on top of Rodman’s head.
“You’re the number one softie!
Only a softie ends up getting ridden on the head!” yelled Roger, hanging from the rim, fiercely responding with his own display of disrespect to the earlier dis courtesy from Rodman!
The crowd imdiately erupted into cheers, Roger’s dunk was indeed very satisfying.
It taught Rodman a lesson and squashed the Bulls’ montum in their continuous scoring.
Despite being the bad boy, Rodman rarely truly lost his temper – most of the ti, he was intentionally ssing with others’ minds, tricking them into disadvantage.
