Capítulo 1354: Chapter 426: Perhaps the Strongest Lineup in History
Kobe’s presence injected a sense of competition into the training camp; everyone had to work hard on defense and communicate with each other, rather than performing slam dunks on the training court.
Coach K smiled at the sidelines, glanced at Jerry Colangelo, the current national team manager: “We will succeed, it all started with Kobe Bryant. Recruiting him was the smartest decision we’ve made.”
After half a month at the Las Vegas training camp, the players finally got a two-day break.
After the last afternoon training session, everyone returned to their rooms to dress up. In Las Vegas, the paradise of entertainnt until death, how could one not go to the nightclubs to relax?
Most of the young players went together to the nightclubs to party, playing amidst the alcohol and the swaying hips and waists of won until about five in the morning before reluctantly leaving.
On their way back to the hotel, Dwyane Wade was still reminiscing: “You know, I visited quite a few nice places in New York too. But I have to say, Las Vegas is heaven!”
Carlo Anthony’s eyes were misty: “Co on, our level of enjoynt is nothing compared to Roger.”
Carlos Boozer instantly beca interested: “I heard Roger can freely go to Hollywood and sleep with female stars, is that true? Just by visiting a film set, at least three female stars would want to follow him back to his room!”
“I also heard he once worked out with the Olsen sisters, and at the sa ti!” Chris Paul widened his eyes.
LeBron Jas listened quietly on the side, not saying a word.
He disliked any topic about Roger because he hated the man who made him feel small as an ant from the bottom of his heart.
Amidst the fantasy of Roger’s wonderful life, a few young players from the Dream Team arrived at the hotel.
As soon as they entered the hotel lobby, they encountered Kobe.
He was wearing a vest, sports shorts, with weightlifting gloves on his hands, carrying a bag, waiting for the elevator.
Kobe turned to look at the group of drunk guys after hearing the noise and removed his earphones.
Wade waved his hand to greet Kobe: “Hey brother, where are you going so early?”
In a calm tone, Kobe said: “The gym.”
Everyone froze for a mont, and simultaneously cursed in their hearts: “What the fvck?”
What was that guy talking about?
Carlo Anthony subconsciously glanced at the Patek Philippe on his wrist that Roger gave him; it was only five thirty in the morning.
At this mont? The gym?
The elevator arrived, and Kobe entered the elevator to the basent alone.
Soon after, the elevator going up to the guest rooms also opened, and the young players parted ways with Kobe.
LeBron Jas seed to understand the secret of how Kobe can approach Roger; the man had been creating shock for everyone since entering the training camp.
His attitude toward the ga, his dedication to basketball, his obsession with victory… Now Jas understood why Rudy Tomjanovich would leave that “tear of sadness” in the famous scene after losing the Western Conference Finals.
Kobe Bryant deserved victory, he should have been the winner, but because of Roger’s existence, his reputation was so bad, completely unmatched with his effort.
Everyone in the elevator was discussing Kobe.
“Did you… did you see that?”
“Damn, I thought the rumor about training at four thirty in the morning was just a joke! God, he really gets up so early to train!”
“Now I understand why he is the closest person to Roger.”
This ti, LBJ didn’t remain silent and joined the discussion.
“Kobe is really… really different!”
LBJ’s eyes were filled with trust and admiration; he liked Kobe. Kobe was probably the player with the biggest gap between dia reports and reality that he had ever seen.
Competitive sports need narrative, need personas.
Roger is depicted by the dia as a strict tyrant, glaring at teammates who perform poorly in training, forcing them to match his height and desire. How does he treat opponents? Even more cruel than a dictator.
Tim Duncan was described as a serious, reclusive master, unmoved even when Gregg Popovich spat all over his face. He always shouldered the responsibility but was willing to give opportunities to teammates.
However, these narratives more or less distort the image of the players. Or rather, these narratives can only showcase one side of a player.
In reality, Roger also has warm monts, and Stone Buddha isn’t as profound and serious as people imagine.
As for Kobe, Jas thinks he’s more fitting for the term “misunderstood” than AI.
The dia only talks about how difficult he is to get along with, calling him a bastard and an immature “werewolf.”
But after spending ti together, Jas finds that Kobe isn’t that bad.
He’s smart enough to maintain a competitive atmosphere on the training ground without letting the competition get out of control. He may not be very enthusiastic with unfamiliar teammates, but this sense of discretion makes you feel comfortable.
He just desires victory more than others, which makes him seem out of place, that’s all.
Because of Roger’s existence, this tiline didn’t have the dia pitting LBJ against Kobe. So from start to finish, Kobe and LBJ were not considered rivals.
This led to LBJ and Kobe never having a tense atmosphere between them; their relationship was completely different from the original tiline.
So LBJ could openly express his liking for Kobe without feeling embarrassed or ashad.
This guy, who has been the Chosen One for three years but kept repeating clownish behavior, couldn’t help but wonder, if he could have Kobe Bryant as a teammate in the NBA…
