"New York players must have the determination to overco the Warriors even if it ans enduring bone-crushing pain!"
New York fans are eagerly hoping to see the Knicks tear the Golden State Gangsters apart. They are very angry, and this anger stems from Reebok’s marketing strategy. To be precise, this anger cos from the Knicks’ failure to sweep the Magic.
In the eyes of all the dia and fans, the New York Knicks and the Orlando Magic are not at the sa level. Tracy McGrady is strong, but the Knicks have three such players.
They find it hard to accept that they actually lost a ga against such a team, and three of the four victories didn’t exceed a double-digit margin.
In short, the New York Knicks didn’t display the dominance expected of them.
The Knicks won, but it wasn’t a satisfying victory, just like how the 90s Dream Team wouldn’t be happy to win by only 7 points.
This is the mindset of the Knicks fans; they feel the series with the Magic should have been cleaner and more decisive.
And now this regret can only be redied on the Warriors.
The day before the ga, the Knicks’ Big Three hosted Roger for dinner as part of their hospitality.
They dined at a Yao Restaurant in New York and had a pleasant conversation.
Among the topics, LeBron Jas’s contract renewal was a point of discussion among the four.
"I don’t know what more LeBron wants," Wade responded. "The Cavaliers have already given him everything, he can’t complain about this and that just because he can’t control everything."
Kevin Garnett, however, understood Jas. Wade had Yao Ming by his side as soon as he entered the league, and welcod KG in his sophomore year. He simply doesn’t understand LeBron’s pain: "LeBron just wants to go to a more competitive environnt, is there anything wrong with that?"
Wade imdiately retorted, "But from my point of view, the Cavaliers are already competitive enough. His situation is completely different from yours, KG. Daniel Gilbert hasn’t dismantled the team but has been strengthening it. Hey, you can’t say you need a super team with all-star level teammates to have a good lineup, right?"
Roger could see Wade’s disdain and hostility towards LBJ.
In this tiline, they will absolutely, definitely not beco brothers.
This hostility wasn’t unfounded. You can imagine Wade’s feelings, he’s always been the most successful player of the 2003 class, yet soone evidently inferior to him continually holds the newspaper headlines and remains the center of people’s attention, just because he signed with Nike.
This would obviously make Wade feel it’s unfair.
He hated the Orlando Magic, if not for their "upset" that defeated LeBron Jas, Wade would have shown the world who was the stronger between him and LBJ.
"Do you really hate LeBron so much?" Roger asked with interest.
You know, watching Wade start firing shots at Jas during their playing careers, instead of waiting until after retirent to say these things, was quite thrilling.
"I have no problem with him, I’m just tired of his damn marketing, he’s not as good as the publicity makes him out to be, that’s all." Wade answered, continuing to eat, not wanting to discuss that person anymore.
After Wade expressed his disdain for LeBron Jas, Roger was really curious about who LeBron Jas would play brother basketball with in this tiline.
Given the current situation where LeBron’s team insists on only wanting to sign a 1 1 contract with the Cavaliers, and the Cavaliers unwilling to sign short-term deals, Decision 1 might even co early.
Nike definitely won’t allow this situation to continue, they and LBJ’s team will surely find a way to assemble a sufficiently explosive roster next sumr to turn the tide.
Roger was instantly filled with anticipation for this.
If Roger truly wanted to leave an unsurpassable legacy, he naturally needed a brand new and dazzling backdrop.
Roger was only good at winning, not at being a backdrop.
And throughout NBA history, no one understood better than LeBron Jas how to be a good backdrop.
Roger was looking forward to his flashy moves.
At the end of the dinner, the laughter gradually faded among the four of them.
KG looked at the completely cleaned plates on the table and wiped his mouth.
As the leader of the Knicks and the earliest acquaintance of Roger among the Knicks trio, he had to take the lead in saying this.
"Sorry Roger, we know it wasn’t easy for the Warriors to get here this season, but this is the end of the line."
This scene was reminiscent of the classic "Exiled" by Johnny To, with several n calmly eating together, yet their purpose was to eliminate each other.
Their goal was in stark contrast to the warm dinner.
Roger wiped his mouth, then stood up and patted Wade on the shoulder: "Dwayne, why don’t you remind KG what happened in Ga 6 last year. It’s either succeed now or forever miss the chance, good luck."
Even ten minutes after Roger left, Wade, KG, and Yao Ming didn’t speak.
They all recalled what happened in Ga 6 of last season’s Finals.
In the last 41 seconds, the Warriors were down by 1 point, the Knicks had the ball, and Roger, with injured ribs and fingers, was almost burnt out.
Dwayne Wade had the chance to end it all, but when he broke through and faced a double team, he didn’t take the shot but chose to pass the ball to Shawn Battier.
This was the choice Dwayne Wade dreams of correcting in every nightmare night.
The next second, Roger swooped in, intercepted the ball, and seized the initiative of the ga.
What happened next, all New York fans will never forget.
