A while later, Kyle stared, dumbfounded, at the massive wall before him, cluttered with nurous mission postings. Speechless.
"1, 2, 3... 12 Battles?"
He counted, his brow arching slightly as he scanned the multiple mission pages where his na was written in bold. He could not believe Ares had put his na on so many battles. He was just a new mber of the clan. What was wrong with that man?
Next to him, Gvette chuckled softly. The man reached out to shake his shoulder, to console him perhaps, only to trip when Kyle moved back and avoided his hand. Gvette’s smirk stiffened, but he let it go and forced out a polite smile as he looked at Kyle.
"Don’t worry much. We will cheer for you from afar. Just return back intact."
Kyle’s lips twitched violently.
Return back intact?
Did that an... there was a chance he could lose a limb or two in these battles?
He glanced back at the wall cluttered with missions and could not help but wonder if this was Ares’ way of getting back at him for refusing to beco his disciple.
If so, the man was truly petty.
Even more so than him.
Or maybe not?
He let out a sigh, rubbing his temples. At least, the saving grace was that according to the missions his opponents would be similar strength as him or at most only a stage above him. That would be fine. He could handle that much. He was sure.
Reaching out, Kyle tore all the missions with his na from the wall one by one. Then, he turned to Gvette.
"How do I reach the places ntioned on the missions? I know the directions, but I believe there should be a convenient way."
Gvette gave him a reassuring look.
"There is a teleportation portal nearby. But we would take you to the mission locations. You are going to participate in so Battles to settle claims on so dungeons we want for this month. These battles are important, so so of us have to watch anyway."
Kyle nodded and briskly followed the man, who was offering insincere reassurance. To him, the Celestials around him seed like nothing more than bored spectators, eager to see him beaten up. Because he had won a lot of their precious natural crystals.
’I need to prove to them all that I am not soone they can push around. I have to win in all of these battles to ensure that no one tries to interfere with in the clan. Azazeal is enough to get on my nerves; I don’t want others to do the sa.’
As he left the small building he was in, surrounded by many Celestials, his gaze t the familiar furious crimson eyes.
Cassian had finally caught up to him, only to find him surrounded by so many people.
A grin played on Kyle’s lips as he tilted his head, a casual amusent in his gaze.
"You want to join us?"
Cassian clenched his fists, his anger simring beneath the surface.
’Damn it! I can’t touch him in front of so many. The clan’s rules are clear: no fights between mbers, unless they officially challenge each other in the arena.’
Kyle chuckled, a low rumble in his chest.
His lips moved, forming a few words that nearly made Cassian want to spit blood.
’Thank you for sharing one of your natural laws. I will make good use of it.’
Then, he turned and followed after Gvette, who was on about how Kyle need to change out of his clothes into a more formal attire since he would be representing the clan.
Kyle humd softly. Ultimately, only he, Gvette, and ten more Celestials remained as they finally reached the location where the teleportation portal was present. All clad in fresh clothes they had changed into when they stopped at Gvette’s place on the way.
Unlike everyone else, clad in grey, silver, or brown robes adorned with intricate, golden, thread-like patterns, Kyle refused to wear the dark silver robe they had given him.
He opted for a combat suit he had.
A pair of comfortable dark trousers and a golden shirt, lined with silver patterns at the collar and cuffs, beneath a dark waistcoat.
Gvette regarded him with dissatisfaction. His clothes were different from theirs, but even so, he had to admit this young human looked too handso for his own good.
Even with so many Celestials around him, he was the tallest. Soone anyone could spot in a crowd, even from a distance.
’Tsk...’
Gvette clicked his tongue inwardly.
He was handso as well and had the charm of the Celestial, but in front of Kyle, he looked rather ordinary... How strange, when he was the stronger among them.
He wasn’t the only one comparing his looks to Kyle’s. All the other Celestials around him were also feeling annoyed at how the human stood out among them. It was as if he was a young master and they were his servants. The thought alone made them furious.
Kyle rubbed his tingling neck, ignoring the stares that were drilling into his head. He eyed the stable blue portal before him.
"Should we leave?"
Gvette nodded and motioned for him to enter the portal. He was already late for the Battles. They couldn’t waste any more ti or else the Battles would be postponed and they would lose the chance to fight for the dungeons they wanted this month.
Giving one last glance to the man who had been trailing him around, Kyle stepped into the portal and vanished. After him, the rest also disappeared into the flickering portal.
Cassian gritted his teeth in frustration.
He slamd his fist into a towering tree, the impact sending a shockwave through the air. Instantly, the tree was reduced to splinters, dissolving into a cloud of dust.
"That damn thief!"
He roared to himself, his voice fading into the eerily silent space. But before he could consider how to get his hands on Kyle and reclaim the natural law the man had stolen, his shoulder was tapped rather calmly. He spun around, only to be t with a pair of calm eyes staring at him with a smile.
Cassian shuddered when a sudden dread crawled into his spine as the old Celestial before him held out his hand.
"You destroyed my tree... I have been selling the spot beneath it as a diating spot. Now pay up before you regret it."
A silent curse ripped from his throat as he vowed to make Kyle beg for rcy one day.
’Damn it all!’
