Booking hotels and making plans were definitely tasks for the younger generation, like Liu Xin’an and his friends.

The hotel selection was easy—they both had plenty of money and were fairly famous now, so security and privacy were top priorities.

In the end, Bae Juhyun called up Seong Taekyon. S-M had partner hotels in Jeju Island, so it was better to go through the internal channel for an insider rate. Convenient and cost-saving!

While they were researching hotels, Juhyun’s mother, who had recently hosted them at the fried chicken shop, finished work and returned ho.

After all, Liu Xin’an was coming over today too, so Juhyun’s mom bought a lot of ingredients on her way back from the shop.

Yes, seeing how much Liu Xin’an loved fried chicken, Juhyun’s mom planned to make so at ho tonight.

When Juhyun’s mom ntioned this to Liu Xin’an with a smile, his face turned green.

How could he refuse such a kind gesture from an elder? Luckily, he had a sowhat reliable girlfriend.

"We can’t always have fried chicken. Let’s eat sothing else tonight. He has to be on cara, and having it occasionally is fine."

Bae Juhyun put the marinated chicken back in the fridge and nudged her mom toward the kitchen.

"You’re sothing else, Xin’an likes to eat this."

"Just because he likes it doesn’t an he should always eat it. I like tteokbokki, but I don’t always eat it."

"Alright, Xin’an, just let know if you want it, and I’ll make it anyti."

"Sure, sure." Liu Xin’an nodded quickly and gave Juhyun a grateful look.

Knowing she had helped, Bae Juhyun smirked proudly.

For Juhyun, she was in an extrely excited state at that mont.

After all, it had been a long ti since she last reunited with her family. Back ho, Juhyun felt completely at ease, either running to the kitchen to ss with her mom and Jinhee and then getting kicked out,

or going to her dad to whine about the trivial matters of her recent work.

Being called a "dutiful daughter" wasn’t without reason. Bae Juhyun never lied about her relationship with her family.

Even Liu Xin’an rarely saw such a happy side of Juhyun. He sat quietly to the side, and after a while, feeling it was inappropriate, he eventually got up and went into the kitchen.

Seeing Liu Xin’an enter, Juhyun’s mom paused for a mont. Just as she was about to say sothing, Liu Xin’an spoke first.

"Family helps each other, so I should be lending a hand."

He rolled up his sleeves efficiently and took over what Bae Jinhee was holding under her expectant gaze.

It was really hard for Jinhee, who wasn’t great at cooking, to help out. Luckily, she had an impressive brother-in-law!

Excitedly, Jinhee took off her rubber gloves. "From now on, you’re my eternal brother-in-law!"

"What nonsense, just go out, I’ll handle it."

Liu Xin’an was both amused and exasperated. Helping Jinhee ant he beca her eternal brother-in-law? Was Juhyun that cheap?

Jinhee didn’t care about Liu Xin’an’s teasing. For her at that mont, slipping out to rest was the priority.

With no one slacking off and soone truly skilled in the kitchen, Juhyun’s mom felt significantly more relaxed.

Don’t think cooking for the family is an easy task. Doing it occasionally is fine, but long-term, it’s not a simple job.

"Is chopping this into pieces okay?"

"Mm... Are you used to this kind of kitchen knife? In China, they use those exaggeratedly big cleavers, right?"

Watching Liu Xin’an’s deft movents, Juhyun’s mom couldn’t help but feel curious.

"My mom is more comfortable with that. I don’t cook Chinese food much—I usually make simpler dishes."

"Oh..."

"Mom, don’t believe him when he says he doesn’t cook much. Whenever he says he knows a little, he actually knows everything!"

Bae Juhyun suddenly appeared, hugging her mom from behind and whispering in her ear affectionately.

"Really?"

"Mm-hmm! He’s so modest!" Juhyun clung to her mom and smugly teased Liu Xin’an.

Normally, Liu Xin’an would probably go over and pin this smug woman against the wall for a bit of fun, but now he was in her ho with her parents and sister around. How could he dare?

Unable to do anything, Liu Xin’an just had to smile helplessly.

It wasn’t that he was being modest. Humility was a virtue in Chinese culture. Even if he was really skilled, he would downplay it as just having basic knowledge.

Besides, he didn’t think he was lying. He really wasn’t that good at Chinese cooking.

But soon, Juhyun’s mom’s reaction made him laugh.

"Juhyun, Xin’an is preparing sothing tasty for you, and you’re still mocking him? Apologize to him now."

Juhyun’s mom couldn’t possibly let her mock Liu Xin’an. She gently tapped Juhyun’s forehead and scolded her.

Juhyun’s eyes widened in disbelief.

"He’s your real son, isn’t he?"

"If I could, I’d really consider swapping you two. Besides, hasn’t Jinhee always wanted a brother?"

"Wow, that’s harsh."

Juhyun let go of her mom and moved toward her boyfriend.

Just helping out, huh? Like she couldn’t do it?

"I can help too. What do you need to do?"

"You want to help?"

"...I’ll just pretend. I’m not really going to work." Juhyun couldn’t hold it in and burst out laughing. She ca ho to enjoy herself, not to work.
