Even beasts with little intelligence feel fear; instinct might drive them to lash out before death. But a Beast Emperor, with greater intelligence, would suppress instinct and choose to run.
"Runs pretty fast," Lin Moyu chuckled. He hadn’t intended to attack unless provoked. He lingered above the royal pool for a few monts, then slowly sank into it.
Lin Moyu was interested in the natural formations created by the various filth pools, and the royal pool was a good starting point.

The royal pool’s refinent of Dao filth was only preliminary.
Later, the Candle Dragon intervened, setting up another formation outside the natural one and connecting it. Thus, nine special filth pools and a core were created. The nine special pools further refined Dao filth; a small part remained, while most flowed to the final core. In the special pools, another beast body was nurtured one surpassing the Beast Emperor and showing mutations, which Lin Moyu called the Mutant Beast.
The Dao filth that reached the final core underwent a third refinent, surpassing ordinary Dao power and reverting to the primordial filth force of heaven and earth, which the Candle Dragon collected.
The Candle Dragon also granted intelligence to the Beast Emperors to strengthen them. In the early days, the beasts were suppressed by the Spirit Demon Clan. The Candle Dragon needed a long ti to gather filth force, so he kept the balance and helped the beasts. Later, the Spirit Demon Clan developed their own interests, collecting Dao essence and maintaining balance rather than just suppressing the beasts. The Candle Dragon knew all about their actions but didn’t interfere, understanding who had sent the Spirit Demon Clan and not daring to oppose the supre of heaven and earth.

He no longer needed to maintain balance, as long as the beasts didn’t destroy the world before his final plan was enacted.
Conveniently, the Beast Emperors sought out the Spirit Demon Clan, which also suited the Candle Dragon’s interests. The beasts drove out the Spirit Demon Clan, and the Candle Dragon didn’t need to offend the supre of heaven and earth.
