Chapter 4143: The Humility of the Supre

Lin Moyu had his own judgnt: if the Spirit Demon Clan didn’t have any other trump cards, given the current situation, they would ultimately lose. If defeated, the Spirit Demon Clan would likely leave even if failing their mission ant punishnt, they wouldn’t just wait around to die. Therefore, Lin Moyu knew his ti was limited; he had to uncover the Spirit Demon Clan’s secrets before they left.

Silently, Lin Moyu infiltrated the depths of the Spirit Demon Clan a place untouched for countless years. With everyone off to war, the area was deserted. Using the Eyes of the Undead, Lin Moyu scanned the surroundings, spotting only two or three soul flas. In his sight, a massive palace towered, surrounded by misty vapor, making it appear dreamlike and ethereal. This vapor was pure Great Dao power, forming a powerful defense that rendered the palace indestructible.

Staring at the palace, Lin Moyu felt sothing odd. He had seen a palace like this before in the virtual world, when he rged the small Spirit Domain, he had witnessed an illusion of the legendary Heavenly Void Palace. The Spirit Demon Clan’s palace bore a striking resemblance to it, which surprised Lin Moyu.

Outside the palace, a formation shrouded the area, but to Lin Moyu, it was child’s play he easily broke through and entered. The palace was empty, with a single altar standing inside. Such an arrangent was rare. No one was around the altar, and in front of it, there should have been a statue, but it was now gone. Marks on the ground showed it had stood there until recently, likely for many years. Lin Moyu deduced the statue was the puppet that had fought the mutated wild beast a guardian for the altar, making it unnecessary to worry about anyone approaching. Thus, the clan’s vigilance was lax.

At the altar’s center was a small pool, only about twenty ters in diater. The water rippled gently, emitting a misty aura the very essence of the Great Dao. The statue’s power originated from this pool. While Dao origin energy is usually gaseous, this pool was even stronger, having liquefied. Lin Moyu even mistook it for the legendary Ancestral Water Essence.

As it was an altar, there must be sothing or soone being worshipped, but Lin Moyu didn’t know who or if they were present. Stepping into the altar, the platform lit up and a formation sprang to life. Lin Moyu had already noticed the formation and, with a flick of his fingers, sent out several divine runes that imdiately halted its activation. The Spirit Demon Clan’s formations were not profound trivial for Lin Moyu.

Passing through the formation, Lin Moyu reached the back of the pool, where a large stele stood about two ters tall, made of a material neither stone nor tal sothing Lin Moyu didn’t recognize. The stele’s material was special and of a high grade, able to absorb the pool’s Dao essence; it was likely a powerful artifact. But what truly caught Lin Moyu’s attention were the densely inscribed characters on the stele, which had endured for countless years without fading. These were not characters from this world, and Lin Moyu couldn’t read a single one. No matter if the eyes couldn’t read, the soul could sense.

Lin Moyu felt information within the stele probably the inscription. If you couldn’t read the script, you could communicate with the stele via your soul and still receive the ssage. Reaching out with his soul, Lin Moyu’s mind was imdiately filled with a majestic voice:

"Spirit Demon Clan, heed the order of the Supre: by command, the Spirit Demon Clan is to station itself in the Three Worlds Domain."

As expected, this matched what Lin Moyu already knew. The Spirit Demon Clan had been ordered by a supre being to enter this world. The Sword Emperor had once let slip so details, and Lin Moyu’s suspicions were now confird.

But which Supre was it? Lin Moyu thought of the green robed elder. "So you’re called a Supre of Heaven and Earth does that an it’s the realm beyond Transcendence?"

A vision appeared before Lin Moyu’s eyes: the Spirit Demon Clan arriving in this domain, taking up station, and fighting the Dao Wild Beasts. At first, they worked hard and were strong enough to suppress the Beast Emperors, unlike their current state. Judging by the vision, Lin Moyu thought the Spirit Demon Clan was ant to wipe out the Dao Wild Beasts and suppress this world.

The scene shifted to the altar, where two Spirit Demon Emperors appeared and conversed:

"The Supre ordered our clan to station here, but didn’t say for how long. Maybe we’ll never return, unable to make progress here are we really content with this?"

"What do you want to do?"

"Nothing much, just collect so of this world’s Dao power."

"That could cause trouble."

"It won’t be a problem. We’ll continue guarding this place, but if we don’t destroy the wild beasts, they’ll keep gathering filth, so we’ll use the opportunity to collect Dao essence. I’ve brought the clan’s supre treasure, which can copy this world’s Dao and send the collected essence to the clan leader. Once the leader becos a Supre, we won’t have to obey other Supres our Spirit Demon Clan will be one of the three supre races."

They plotted, never imagining their plan would be completely recorded by the stele. This suggested the stele either didn’t belong to the Spirit Demon Clan or had been tampered with. The clan began collecting Dao essence, sending it to their leader via the supre treasure, hoping he would beco a Supre and free them from the control of others. Clearly, their plan hadn’t succeeded becoming a Supre was no easy feat. Until then, they had no intention of leaving, as the Dao essence of a world was hard to co by, and they had a rare chance to stay here legitimately.

But now, their plan was about to end.

Lin Moyu approached the pool and saw at the bottom a puppet. The pool and puppet together ford the clan’s supre treasure, and the stele was called the Supre Stele. With it present, other Supres would avoid this world and not interfere. But it wasn’t foolproof if an enemy of this Supre found out, the stele would act as a beacon, and they’d send forces to destroy it. Supres were not at peace with each other there were always conflicts.

"There aren’t many Supres, and the worlds are far apart in chaos, so they rarely encounter each other. The Supre Stele has another function: it records events that happen in the world. When the Spirit Demon Clan returns, whether they succeed or fail, they’ll be punished for breaking the rules."

Lin Moyu wasn’t sure if stealing the Dao essence of a world was a grave offense, but it was certainly forbidden otherwise, they wouldn’t have done it in secret. When the Supre retrieves the stele and learns what happened, the Spirit Demon Clan’s fate will be sealed.
