676: Chapter 666: Bread Man 676: Chapter 666: Bread Man While the two groups were facing off outside, Wen Wen walked unhurriedly to a table by the window and sat down.
At the table sat a blonde lady with heavy eyeshadow, who was currently watching the stand-off outside with great interest.
Her skin faintly revealed a tinge of blue; her golden hair also appeared to be fake, most likely belonging to a monster kindred related to snakes, kin to the Three Cubs.
“I’m very grateful that Mr.
Tings stood up for us, but we don’t have any kind of relationship with him.
Why would he be willing to stand up for us?”
The Snake Lady raised her eyebrow slightly, then turned her body a bit, not intending to answer Wen Wen’s question.
In her eyes, Wen Wen was just a common person.
Wen Wen chuckled and said, “I’m a rather suspicious person.
If I don’t understand the situation clearly, I might do sothing irrational, so it’s better for everyone if you just answer my question.”
With a flip of her hair, the Snake Lady shook her head at Wen Wen, “I’m rely a regular diner, I only co here occasionally to eat, I don’t know much about Mr.
Tings…”
“Mr.
Tings’s ho is right above the restaurant, isn’t it?
There, I found a dressing table, on which there’s a photo of you and him together.
The bedroom also had signs of your ‘battles’, quite fresh ones.”
“Moreover, my pet told that this place slls of other serpentine creatures, and finally, there’s a hidden kiss mark on Mr.
Tings’s neck, probably left by you.
Hence, I deduced that even if you are not the mistress of this establishnt, you must have deep ties with Mr.
Tings.”
The Snake Lady’s eyes bulged, and her face changed color abruptly as the pressure of a Disaster Level monster assaulted Wen Wen, “How do you know about the upstairs bedroom?”
Pointing to his eyes that shimred with a silvery glow, Wen Wen replied, “Hey, don’t worry, my eyes are a bit different from others.
I can also see the ID in your handbag; your na is Jenny, right?”
As long as it was within Wen Wen’s perception range, he could observe anything through any mirror without attracting attention, be it the upstairs or inside Jenny’s handbag—it was all seen through Mirror Eye.
Jenny’s first instinct was to cover her chest, fearing that Wen Wen had x-ray vision.
Then she took a large gulp of saliva, preparing to spit it at Wen Wen.
As a Disaster Level creature, her venom was certainly much more potent than that of Three Cubs.
“I would advise you to stay calm.
I just want to ask a few questions.
If you insist on destroying this friendly atmosphere…
the mont your saliva cos out, you’ll be dead.”
Empowered by Wen Wen, the supernatural force of the Blood River Sword enveloped the area, and an illusion flashed through Jenny’s mind: she spat at Wen Wen, but in the next instant, a black and red longsword pierced through her head!
After the illusion subsided, she looked at Wen Wen in terror—this man’s strength might be on par with so of the most powerful monsters in Nim City.
He clearly didn’t need Mr.
Tings’s protection.
Jenny swallowed her saliva and then said to Wen Wen, “The twenty-three blocks around Dark Kitchen are Mr.
Tings’s territory.
He doesn’t get involved with the conflicts of other powers in Nim City, but on his turf, his rules must be followed.”
“These Blood Clan mbers ca to Dark Kitchen to openly kidnap soone, breaking Mr.
Tings’s rules, so he went out to confront the Blood Clan.
It wasn’t just for your sake.”
Curiosity arose in Wen Wen.
Such local power structures were sothing he barely encountered in the Capital District.
Those who dared to stand against the Hunters Association were usually eliminated the next day: “I see…
So what are his rules?”
“Monsters are not allowed to harass humans, nor can the Hunters Association capture monsters without reason.
Monsters with special dietary preferences can co here to dine…”
“So many prohibitions…
Is this Mr.
Tings very strong?”
Snake Lady Jenny shook her head and said, “I’m not clear on his strength, but the majority of the monsters in the twenty-three blocks nearby are willing to stand by him when trouble cos, and he also commands an army of Bread n.”
Wen Wen said sarcastically, “So this place is essentially Mr.
Tings’s personal kingdom.
The peers in Nim City are really useless.
However, after these two days, the situation in the city will be completely rewritten.”
Despite his disdain, Wen Wen understood the situation that had developed in Nim City.
Given the city’s current environnt, the Hunters Association wouldn’t prioritize the Dark Kitchen, the area with the best security, over other more deteriorated areas.
Moreover, setting aside his own identity as a Demon Hunter, Mr.
Tings was almost a perfect candidate for Containnt Officer; he wielded considerable influence in Nim City and seed friendly enough towards humans.
After this matter was resolved, it would be worth trying to communicate with him.
As Wen Wen and Jenny conversed, several vans arrived in the district, cordoning off the area so outsiders couldn’t see inside, at which point, brown, basketball-sized balls of dough erged from the vans.
These balls of dough slowly expanded into nearly human-height figures wielding weapons—these were the Bread n Mr.
Tings had summoned.
From a distance, they looked like humans dressed in bread doll costus, but Wen Wen knew they were indeed bread.
Hundreds of Bread n walked out of several vans, but compared to the vigor of the Yingua District’s motorcycles, they were still significantly underbaked.
These Bread n were not particularly strong, with their capabilities ranging between Disaster Level and Calamity Level, but their sheer numbers were overwhelming.
If a true battle ensued, the Blood Clan might not co out on top, and it was well-known among Nim City’s monsters that Mr.
Tings had more than just a few Bread n vans at his disposal.
Seeing that a fight was imminent, Wen Wen stood up, beckoned Tao Qingqing and Three Cubs to follow, and patted Mr.
Tings’s shoulder, saying, “We’ve finished our al, so we won’t trouble you any further.
I believe we will et again.”
After saying that, Wen Wen headed for a nearby empty soccer field.
The vampires sighed in relief and followed, preparing to strike once they were in a less crowded space.
Jenny, with legs sowhat trembling, walked up to Mr.
Tings and leaned on him to barely stay upright.
“Those two don’t need your protection at all; one of them is a monster!”
Mr.
Tings stroked his beard and said, “I knew they were no ordinary people the mont they walked in, but rules are rules in the Dark Kitchen.
Without these rules, the Dark Kitchen would have ceased to exist long ago.”
Jenny gently patted his back, her gaze on Mr.
Tings filled with adoration.
It was for this very reason that she liked this old geezer.
After Mr.
Tings returned to the kitchen, the hearty expression faded from his face, replaced with worry.
“I hope this gesture of goodwill can preserve the Dark Kitchen.
Those vampires probably don’t yet realize that disaster has already descended.”
He didn’t know the old adage from the Capital District about the value of having friends in many places, but he had always lived by it.
Many of the powerful figures in Nim City, and even in the Golden Eagle District, were his friends.
Thus, long before Wen Wen’s arrival, he had learned through other channels that over a hundred High Order Demon Hunters and at least ten True Order Demon Hunters would co to Nim City in the next few days, which would deal a devastating blow to the city’s monster ecology.
Had it been any other ti, although he wouldn’t have been completely hands-off, he definitely wouldn’t have co close to full-scale war with the Blood Clan for the sake of a stranger.
After all, of the many forces in Nim City, the Dark Kitchen was one of the smaller ones, while the Blood Clan’s power ranked in the top three!
