149: Chapter 147: The Battle Begins 149: Chapter 147: The Battle Begins After seeing Wen Wen, Gong Baoding’s brows furrowed.
Although there was no definitive evidence, he had always assud that Wen Wen was the previous Containnt Officer.
The person now appearing before him couldn’t possibly be Wen Wen, which puzzled him greatly.
“Besides you and , are there any other Containnt Officers in the Sanctuary?” Gong Baoding asked seriously.
His eyes were slightly red, as he had already activated his ability.
This ability could determine whether soone was lying, but it required prior preparation and could only be effective on unsuspecting superpower users or ordinary people.
He did not test Wen Wen simply because he didn’t want to alert Wen Wen or reveal that he too was a Containnt Officer.
But now, with another Containnt Officer standing in front of him, there was no need to hide his identity.
“There’s no need for pointless probes, I know no more about this Sanctuary than you do,” Wen Wen said, shrugging.
Gong Baoding frowned, unable to tell if this person was lying.
His ability might seem magical, but in reality, it was based on microexpressions, heart rate, voice, and all other observable characteristics.
Since Wen Wen had an ethereal body, Gong Baoding couldn’t see his expressions or even hear his real voice, so it would have been strange if he could discern the truth.
“Well then, this is my first containnt mission, please give so guidance,” Gong Baoding said, setting aside his doubts and speaking humbly.
“There’s nothing much to guide you on, our target is much stronger than both of us.
Even though severely injured, he’s still tough to handle, so we must cooperate well,” Wen Wen said with a strange smile.
Gong Baoding nodded.
Even with this odd fellow’s assistance, he didn’t think they could capture Yan Biqing.
But this was a mission issued by the terrifying entity in the Sanctuary, so he needed to steel himself and proceed.
“To show sincerity, let first introduce my ability.
As you can see, I am quite similar to a Fierce Spirit, possessing almost all the abilities of a Fierce Spirit, along with my own offensive capabilities.”
“Fire Control!” Gong Baoding stated succinctly.
“To ensure success, let’s discuss how we should proceed shortly…”
…
In the heart of Furong River Amusent Park, within the underground Haunted House, Yan Biqing was treating his wounds.
An injured wild beast is most dangerous, but if the injuries exceed a certain limit, it becos the easiest prey.
If his injuries worsened, he would no longer be able to forcibly remain in Furong River City.
Although he had taken over Yan Biqing’s body, he had not achieved complete control and couldn’t unleash all his strength.
In order to take full command of this body, he needed to sever all of Yan Biqing’s attachnts to this world, making him give up his futile resistance.
Within this city was the person whom Yan Biqing was most attached to.
Unfortunately, before his body was taken over, Yan Biqing forcefully erased all information and mories of that person.
Knowing only that he was in Furong River City, he had to rely on scant clues to search.
No matter what, just seeing that person would definitely provoke a reaction from this body!
The Haunted House still harbored many poisonous insects, which provided him with so asure of protection.
Suddenly, Yan Biqing’s expression changed; he sensed two superpower users at the door!
Outside the basent, Wen Wen first powered up a cheaply modified laptop and placed it in a spot where the ongoing fight wouldn’t reach it.
Then he stood at the doorway with Gong Baoding and said to him,
“First, we must force him out from here.
If he chose to hide here, it ans the location suits his combat style; hence, we need to push him out.
You can do that, right?”
“No need to tell …”
Gong Baoding growled, his eyes ablaze.
Masses of fire condensed into a fire dragon, continuously pouring into the small haunted house.
In just monts, the basent was filled with flas, instantly killing the poisonous bugs to no effect.
Yan Biqing’s eyes were wide with fury as he dashed into Imaginary Space, then quickly sprinted out.
Unfortunately, Imaginary Space couldn’t last very long, so by the ti he erged, his body had already sustained nurous burns.
Breathless, he looked at Wen Wen and his companion, “I’m curious, how exactly did you two find ?
I eliminated all sll and traces of my presence, and there are no electronic devices around.”
The two did not answer his question because they too did not know how Ding Mingguang had located Yan Biqing.
Even if Ding Mingguang was willing to explain, they would not comprehend.
The gap between a scholar and a dunce was just that.
“Ha, even though I’m nearly done for, sending just two people seems quite dismissive.”
“Dismissive or not, we’ll know once we try!”
Wen Wen snapped his fingers twice, activating two abilities simultaneously: Water Control and Acid Spray.
The water flow itself wasn’t lethal, but when filled with acid strong enough to dissolve tal, it posed a deadly threat to Yan Biqing!
Using a single ability would be a waste of the Catastrophe Containnt Facility’s bug-like powers; just combining two otherwise normal abilities could unleash an amazingly new power.
Now, the five abilities Wen Wen had chosen were Acid Spray, Water Control, Blood Poison, ntal Shock, and Guile.
Wen Wen believed that the combination of these five abilities was enough to threaten the already injured Yan Biqing.
The water ford behind Wen Wen, morphing into a long acid dragon and, under Wen Wen’s control, flew towards Yan Biqing.
The encounters between Wen Wen and Yan Biqing were not few.
Observing from their previous confrontations, Yan Biqing’s capabilities in close combat were essentially invincible, at least from Wen Wen’s perspective, they were invincible.
Therefore, the basic strategy against him was to avoid close quarters, using attacks that could not be parried with fists or feet, such as acid!
Yan Biqing frowned, one controlled fire, the other acid—these were precisely the kinds of opponents he hated most.
Yet that alone wasn’t enough to threaten him.
The strength of these two was after all not yet at the Assimilation Realm, no matter how troubleso their abilities might be.
Yan Biqing’s body flashed with a green light, evading the acid water dragon and landing a punch right in front of Wen Wen.
Wen Wen’s eyes widened as his body instantly beca ethereal, and Yan Biqing’s punch passed right through him.
The ghost’s ethereal form could only be maintained for a very short duration and was only useful for evading physical attacks, nowhere near comparable to Yan Biqing’s strategy of hiding in Imaginary Space.
But against Yan Biqing who could only use physical attacks, it was extrely effective!
Because, no matter how he might adjust his physical traits, he couldn’t mimic powers he didn’t have, purely enhancing his physical capabilities was no way to harm a ghost!
But Yan Biqing quickly realized this, his hands flashing green as he swung a fierce punch towards Wen Wen’s direction, sending out a burst of air with his punch.
The ghost’s body was light and buoyant, blown back over ten ters by the fierce blast of the punch.
Just at that mont, behind Yan Biqing, a flaming dragon ca roaring through!
