Chapter 813: Chapter 258: He Suppressed Two Eras, After All (Thanks to the Alliance Leader ‘Nine-tiered Pagoda’)_2
The middle-aged man heard this and paid no attention to any Senator.
His gaze at the competition suddenly froze, as if he had rembered sothing, and he muttered to himself in a trance, “Has she left…”
The young man saw his father distracted and after a mont, reminded him, “Father? As for Senator Kean…”
Robert’s thoughts finally seed to return to the present.
His tone was flat but could not hide his disdain as he responded, “Hmph, Kean has great ambitions indeed. I’m just afraid he doesn’t have the Life Pattern to support such ambitions. There’s no need to bother with him.”
The young man was sowhat anxious about his father’s attitude, “But… Senator Kean is one of the most popular rising mbers of the Federation House of Representatives. He has recently joined forces with a group to start a new banking venture, and it’s all quite the buzz. Moreover, they have secretly tead up with the White Family of God Thieves and so of the direct descendants of the Song Family. If he manages to take control of the resources in the hands of the Williams Family, it will be too late for us to act.”
“Take control?”
Robbie seed to hear a joke, shaking his head unconcernedly, “You really think that the Second Master of the Williams Family and Kean are doing sothing in the dark that ‘she’ wouldn’t know about? As long as she was around, no one dared to make a move, and all was calm. Now that she has passed away, all these thriving charlatans have erged. But it’s about ti they were dealt with.”
The young man, puzzled by these words, said, “Huh?”
He knew that his father’s judgnt had always been prescient and would ultimately prove correct.
And because of that.
He was confused.
Robert had brought his son here precisely to let the heir of the family truly witness such a top-level upheaval.
He did not hide his views, but his tone was none too polite, “There are always newcors who think they’ve gained a bit of power and want to break the existing class’s share of benefits, heh… If they want to court death, let them try. It’s just that ‘she’ hasn’t been in the public eye for the last twenty years or so, making people think she lacked influence. Had it been so years earlier, not just a newly minted Senator, but even the old gentlen of the Senate would have had to respectfully address her as ‘Miss Williams’… Heh, to think the Williams Family only had the Black Gold Trade Union? The strength of ‘that person,’ you youngsters have no idea how formidable it was. Your grandfather’s generation truly understood it…”
The young man listened, but didn’t fully grasp the severity.
He did not doubt his father’s judgnt but was even more puzzled, “Father, is she really that formidable? But…”
He didn’t finish his sentence, but it seed like he’d never heard of her being so impressive.
Robert sighed deeply, his eyes slightly narrowing, “She is a respected elder and pioneer.”
The young man’s brows knit together, his expression suddenly stern.
It was hard for him to believe that his father, who appeared so grand and had such foresight, would use such respectful language when speaking of “her”…
Robert didn’t say it directly but instead asked, “Haven’t you seen the old newspaper always hanging in your grandfather’s study?”
The young man was clueless.
Robert chuckled, “What does it say in the most prominent place on the newspaper?”
The young man certainly rembered clearly; every mber of the Morton Family knew, “When money stands, all truth kneels.”
“Correct!”
Robert said, “That line from the current affairs critic on the newspaper was about ‘her’ back then. Her vision, skill, and audacity were fully reflected in that statent. Despite being a woman, she managed to have all those old gentlen of your grandfather’s circle unable to hold their heads up…”
With newfound interest, the young man listened closely.
After pondering for a mont, Robert continued with a nostalgic tone, “Sixty years ago, while all the nobles and Senators of the Federation were still calculating the wealth of their lands, she had already, unbeknownst to them, taken control of the economic lifeline of the Federation. What was even more brilliant was that she could have quietly made countless tis more profit, yet she freely distributed these profits, including the seat for printing Federation currency…”
His tone could not hide his emotion, as mories surged like a tide.
Only those who had lived through that era knew just how outrageous Miss Williams was.
And it fostered a deep admiration in their hearts.
Robert went on, “I used to not understand it. Your grandfather enlightened about her brilliance. What she wanted was mutual prosperity. The richer the entire Federation got, the more circulation there would be, the richer she would beco. The high caliber and scope of this concept are still not understood by many to this day. But you have to realize, her initial layout was nearly a hundred years ago! Back then, the Lords were still only thinking about ruling as emperors of their own land, and their main thods of amassing wealth were mining or exploiting their subjects to earn that little bit of money they were proud of. And she had already laid out a plan for the entire Federation’s Financial Field…”
The young man exclaid, “Is… is she that formidable?”
“No.”
Robert shook his head.
A sharp glint flashed in his eyes as he added, “She is even more formidable than I’ve described.”
After a brief pause, the old gentleman sighed again, “And to a great extent, it was her layouts that have resulted in the current prosperity of the Federation. That’s why we, and the people of your grandfather’s generation, respect her. It’s only that in recent years she seed uninterested in the gas of wealth and did not involve herself. Otherwise, just in terms of financial tactics, let alone Kean, even if the five big Senators were tied together, none would be a match for her.”
