Chapter 1296: Chapter 398 I Refuse Your Duel_3 Chapter 1296: Chapter 398 I Refuse Your Duel_3 “This…”

Madam Ingrit was at a loss for words when she heard this.

As a mother, she of course understood her own daughter.

The words she had just heard resonated with a resolute certainty, as well as the overbearing manner of one who holds a superior position.

Actually, the truth had already been decided; it was not ntioned for discussion but out of respect for herself, her mother.

After a pause, Catherine Carter added, “Also, Mother, you all underestimate Leonard Churchill too much. Despite your precious daughter being sowhat beautiful and having so background, in his eyes, these things won’t make him respect her more. I beca friends with him, not for any other reason, but simply because our temperants match. He is very special…”

“…”

Hearing this, Madam Ingrit swallowed back the words she had prepared.

She finally realized that the daughter before her was no longer the proud rose of the garden, but a mature person in a position of power.

Frowning and hesitating for a long while, Madam Ingrit knew in her heart that she could change nothing. With a long sigh, she said, “Well…handle it well.”

Upon hearing her mother’s concession, Catherine’s face straightened for an instant, then she flashed a playful smile, “Mhm. Got it.”

This reception banquet was initially held for General Logan.

However, the appearance of an outsider added so unexpected elents to the event.

Everyone had assud that Catherine had brought Leonard Churchill to the banquet to introduce him to the circle of the Alliance high command.

After all, this was the custom of the nobility.

To gain power, one must first beco familiar with the sphere of power.

However, unexpectedly, Catherine had no intention of introducing him any further.

And Leonard Churchill himself was simply focusing on eating.

This also left so spectators, who had hoped to stir up trouble, without an excuse.

Catherine had not only just beco the attention of the Allied Command. Her beauty had been renowned in the Federation since her childhood.

There were not only Major General Mick who admired the young lady of the Lionheart family. There were plenty of young people at the banquet.

But since Leonard Churchill was just eating, out of politeness, the others did not feel it right to disturb him.

Even if there was to be a duel, it would have to wait until he had finished his al.

However, these spectators were disappointed.

Throughout the banquet, Leonard just sat at the table and ate and ate, never once rising from his seat.

In truth, he had finished eating long ago.

Ivan’s appetite was very good, as he rarely had a full al, he went ahead and ate to his heart’s content.

Leonard Churchill had no desire to engage with anyone else, so he simply continued eating.

He also perceived that, apart from a few individuals, there was no real malice in the banquet hall.

After all, Catherine was sleepwalking, and he had no intention of making the relationship appear too unsightly.

Thus, the banquet proceeded with its various formalities.

Catherine didn’t let these trivialities disturb Leonard Churchill, and he ate at the table all evening.

The banquet was finally over.

The high-ranking officers of the Alliance Army began to disperse.

Catherine ca over imdiately. Her voluminous dress making it inconvenient to sit, she stood beside Leonard Churchill and asked, “How was the al?”

Leonard Churchill smiled and replied, “Quite good.”

Just as he was about to stretch out his hand, Catherine preemptively took a napkin from a maid and personally wiped the corner of Leonard’s mouth, “Then next ti, I’ll invite you for a al again.”

As she spoke, she glanced at Ivan, who was stuffed and dozing in Leonard Churchill’s pocket, and gave a mysterious smile.

Leonard Churchill said, “Sure.”

Just as he rose, Catherine naturally took his arm.

The two of them walked towards the door as they had co.

While walking, Catherine spoke softly, “I’ve troubled you tonight.”

The entire banquet featured Leonard Churchill as the only outsider.

To be frank, enduring the cold looks all evening wasn’t pleasant.

If it were another guest with thinner skin, they might have felt too embarrassed to stay any longer.

Leonard Churchill simply smiled, unconcerned, “Didn’t I get a al out of it? Not too bad.”

Catherine raised an eyebrow, as if taking offense on his behalf, “That doesn’t count. I said I’d personally look after you… Stay a few more days this ti, and I’ll make sure it’s arranged properly!”

Leonard Churchill just smiled, not minding at all. Just as he was about to say a couple of words, he sensed sothing and muttered, “Trouble’s coming.”

Catherine, knowing exactly what the plot was, blinked her lively eyes and said with a smile, “Yes. You didn’t give them a chance earlier; now here it cos.”

As she spoke, she leaned in even more closely, as though declaring sothing.

“…”

Leonard Churchill glanced at her, resigned.

Catherine seed quite pleased, unashadly stating, “In noble circles, duelling over a girl is considered a great honor.”

Laughing, she cheerfully added, “Beat them up!”

“…”

At that, Leonard Churchill could only laugh and shake his head.

The presence of the Supre Commander of the Alliance Army, the Lionheart family’s young lady, seed increasingly relaxed in front of him, her occasional girlish deanor amusing him greatly.

Before they could talk any further, several young military officers in uniform approached them.

Leading them was Major General Mick.

Seeing the two about to leave, they obviously were not going to miss this final opportunity.

After a few rounds of irrelevant chatter, Mick finally stated his purpose, “Brother Leonard Churchill, I’ve heard you’re also an expert in combat. If you’re free, shall we have a duel?”

The anticipated “duel,” a staple in these aristocratic dinners, was ultimately staged.

Though these young officers were arrogant, they were not foolish.

They knew that Leonard Churchill was a regular on the arrest warrant, obviously strong in his own right.

The only one among the younger generation who could confidently overpower him, of course, was Fifth Tier Mick.
