286: Chapter 7 I Specialize in Raising Cows_1 286: Chapter 7 I Specialize in Raising Cows_1 Who says one hates having too few books when it’s ti to use them, I feel like there’s just too much that can be used!
A certain uneducated cattle-raising boy looked up at the banner on the library wall.
He was interpreting the ancient sage’s words in his own way while grumbling about the profound content of the book.
He used to only know that taking care of cattle just ant preventing disease.
But as he copied down more, he realized that cattle raising truly was a science.
How to ensure that the at of the future cows will be delicious and tender was still a bit of a fancier question for him.
That wasn’t his concern at the mont.
Right now he was just figuring out the fastest way to get the cows bigger and fatter, that was plenty for him to learn.
Let alone his ultimate dream when he first thought about raising cattle: to raise a few big bulls and earn money from other people bringing in their cows for mating.
He was incredibly envious when he saw soone sell a breeding bull for thousands of dollars, realizing that cattle breeding could be quite profitable.
In scientific terms, the issue is Beef cattle breeding.
In reality, the first cattle he raised were all calves, selected with the thought of raising them to be bulls.
Just the thought of sitting back at ho every day, waiting for people to bring in their cows for mating while money accumulated till his hand cramped gave him an indescribable sense of satisfaction.
It’s just that the breeding ti for bulls is too long, so he later started fattening up cows.
Now, the ten calves he selected at the beginning of his cattle farm have been ticulously raised, especially under the care of his secret recipe bone al, all of them were growing fat and robust.
Except for the smallest one, the others could start making money for him after the New Year.
Unfortunately, when he bought all those cows, not all ten of them were bulls.
In the thrill of the hunt, he saw so great-looking cows and couldn’t resist, buying three young cows.
With more and more to copy, he felt that the stuff he needed to copy was not decreasing but seemingly increasing day by day.
Indeed, the more knowledge he gained, the more he realized how much he needed to learn.
He didn’t realize that he had so much to learn before because he was too ignorant, not even knowing that there was so much to learn.
He ca over without eating lunch, and by the ti it was evening, he had forgotten all about the ti.
He missed dinner too.
While he was deeply engrossed in his copying, suddenly his heart stirred.
He looked up and saw Miss Xu Xiaoyan turning her head at the sa ti.
Their eyes t, and she bead at him with a surprised smile.
The girl who jogged over to him asked the first question: “Why haven’t you left yet?
It’s dark outside, are there still buses?”
“Is it dark outside?” Yan Fei instinctively looked outside and indeed it was dark.
“Why did you co over here?”
“Just checking if you had left yet,” Xu Xiaoyan said naturally.
“Why would you co out this late?
Hurry back to school and don’t go out at night in the future.
There must be buses at night, if not, I’ll take the earliest one tomorrow.
Don’t co over again.
I told you I’m leaving so if I had left, you’d have made a wasted trip.”
“Hmph, I don’t mind taking a wasted trip!
It’s none of your business!” The girl retorted as if to challenge him, but then couldn’t help adding, “Do you have more stuff to copy?
Do you want to help you with so?”
“No need, you better head back!
I can rember it all if I copy it myself, and there’s a lot to copy anyway.
I’ll continue copying when I co next ti.
I’ll leave soon whatever the progress.”
“Okay then!” The girl looked a little disappointed as she couldn’t help.
“You should go back!
Be careful on the road…Never mind, let take you back!” Yan Fei said, ready to pack his stuff and leave.
“No need, I ca out with my dorm mates for dinner; they are waiting for outside!
I told them I’d just take a quick look and go out.” The girl stopped him.
Yan Fei looked over and sure enough, there were a few girls sneaking glances in their direction.
Aren’t they her dorm mates?
It seems that these female college students are just as gossip-inclined, they must have secretly followed her in to see what she was up to!
“Silly girl, they all followed you in!
You should hurry up and go!” Yan Fei gestured to the girl in that direction.
The girl turned around and blushed imdiately: “Ah!
I told them to wait for …alright, I’m leaving now…”
She walked hurriedly in that direction.
The girls over there laughed far away.
When she reached them, the group of people laughed and left.
When the girl was gone, Yan Fei continued to write in a flurry, until the library administration staff began to call for the closing ti.
Hurriedly wrapping up the last section, he realized he would be back anyway, so he just left it there.
Checked the ti and realized that the teacher’s day holiday wasn’t far.
He could start working on the left-over stuff during the holiday.
As he was thinking this, he had just put the book on the shelf when an old man ca over looking for a magazine.
He then asked, “Hello sir, do you know if this library will be open during the Teachers’ Day holiday?”
The old man with glasses gave him a once-over and asked, “Aren’t you a student at this school?”
Don’t I look like a student with this disguise?
Puzzled, Yanfei imdiately lied, “Of course, I am!
I’m a new student and I’m still not very familiar with the rules around here.”
The old man stared at him suspiciously.
Yanfei acted calm and unfazed.
Let him look!
“The library here is open as usual during holidays.
You can co as you like.” The old man replied after giving him another couple of glances.
Then out of the blue, he asked, “What’s your major?”
Yanfei got the answer he wanted and was quite satisfied.
He wasn’t prepared for the old man to ask again.
He subconsciously blurted out, “I’m majoring in cattle raising.”
Realization struck him right after he said this.
Even without ever attending college, he doubted there would be a major nad cattle raising.
He had been so absorbed in the cattle raising books that he was getting a bit muddled.
Quickly, he corrected himself, “I ant to say I’m majoring in livestock breeding, focusing on cattle raising.”
As for whether there’s a major in livestock breeding, he wasn’t sure.
Anyway, it sounded more credible than saying he is majoring in cattle raising.
The old man didn’t say anything.
He just nodded and mumbled, found the magazine he wanted, tucked it under his arm, and prepared to leave.
He took a couple of steps and perhaps saw Yanfei’s notes on the table which he hadn’t had ti to put away.
He paused, then turned back and said, “Being a non-student is not a problem.
Feel free to co here anyti you want to read and learn.
We welco anyone who wants to study to co in and read, there’s no need to lie.”
Maybe he felt that his last sentence was a bit harsh, so he added, “Coming to the library to learn doesn’t bring sha.”
Then, he walked away with his hands behind his back.
Yanfei watched his retreating figure, baffled.
Doesn’t my disguise make look like a student?
Isn’t there actually a major in livestock breeding?
How can you call yourself an Agricultural University without offering a major in cattle raising or farming?
He looked down at his dusty shoes from running around all day, his sowhat dirty and faded trousers, and sighed ruefully.
Is this still not enough?
It seems my disguising skills need further improvent!
Even as he felt hard done by, he stared at the old man’s retreating figure, worried that he might say sothing to the person on duty at the entrance.
But the man didn’t seem to give a damn about him sneaking in to read.
When the old man got to the entrance, he said, “Xiao Wang, I’ve lent out these latest issues of the magazine.
Take this one ho to read.
If I forget to bring it back in a few days, remind to return it!”
Yanfei was indignant again, “Hmph, and he calls himself a teacher!
Lending out his own books and playing the Good Samaritan, using public books and not even registering them as borrowed.
Not intending to return them and even expecting others to remind him…”
While grumbling, he quickly pulled out a magazine.
That was the reason he hadn’t left earlier.
When the old man was getting his magazine, a few words on the cover of one of them had caught his eye.
He dawdled, waiting for the old man to leave so he could take a look at it.
Gazing at the magazine in his hand, and fixated on the headline in bold red lettering that started with ‘On Cow Dung,’ he couldn’t resist flipping it open.
Just at that mont, the librarian called for him again.
He wanted to put the book on the shelf but was reluctant to do so.
Recalling how the old man had casually walked out with a book just now, he quickly hid the magazine when no one was looking.
Clutching his notes, he followed the crowd and left the library.
Once he was a fair distance away, he mimicked the old man and mumbled to himself, “Coming to the library to learn doesn’t bring sha!”
Then he inwardly added: Occasionally stealing a book to read at ho isn’t shaful either!
After all, I’m coming back in a few days, so I can sneak it back in then…
A thief stealing books and feeling righteous about it.
Luckily he was only in his second year of junior high, otherwise, having read the text about Kong Yiji, he would surely rationalize: stealing books can’t be considered theft…
stealing books!…
Can it be considered stealing if it’s done by a scholar?
Not long after, in the Agricultural University campus, two students who were rushing back to their dorm suddenly stopped.
One said to the other, “Did you see that just now?
Such a big bird flew out of that flower bed.
It looked a bit like a hawk?”
The other one agreed, “Yes!
How strange.
I didn’t think we’d have such big birds in the school.
Could it be an owl?”
After a brief chat, the two hurried toward their dorms again.
anwhile, Yanfei, now airborne and flying in the night sky, hovered around the dormitory building where a certain girl from the Law School lived.
Then, he shot up into the sky and flew towards Sancha River Town!
