Chapter 1999: Chapter 939: Picking Up the Director; Lawrence’s Utter Admiration
Old Chen had a great ti chatting on the road, having never been so happy since knowing Yan Fei.
He used to think Brother Fei was a skilled businessman, but now he realizes that it’s actually his technical skills he relies on—he’s even shy about raising prices, can he really be considered a competent businessman?
Moreover, his managent style is extrely outdated; from the mont he started at the ranch, he was like Heizi, directly using a card loaded with money as office expenses. In Old Chen’s opinion, only soone like Yan Fei could manage to gain people’s support, plus having the technical expertise to maintain high profits, allowing the business to continuously expand. Otherwise, it would have collapsed by now!
So, feeling quite pleased with himself, he arrived at the airport, but upon getting out of the car and seeing Yan Fei’s face as dark as the bottom of a pot, he unwillingly picked up a big sign and raised it at the airport exit.
It seed like Brother Fei wanted to hit soone at that mont… better not provoke him!
He held it up for half an hour, looking like a fool.
Yan Fei just stood there silently, not ntioning when Lin Baoguo would arrive—it hurt his pride a bit. He used to think making two or three hundred million a year was pretty good, but now having people from his team point out that he could actually earn several tis that, it was a blow to his self-esteem.
…
Lin Baoguo and an old man followed the crowd out, spotting Chen Yingjun’s raised sign from a distance. Seeing his na at a foreign airport for the first ti among a crowd of blond and white-haired people made him feel a little excited to spot a familiar face.
He had forgotten that he intended to give Yan Fei a hard ti upon arrival; Chinese n aren’t like those foreigners around, embracing each other warmly after a few days apart.
They wouldn’t even say a couple of warm words, just a simple smile.
Lin Baoguo briefly introduced the person next to him as a fellow townsman here to visit his son—the mont one steps beyond the national borders, the definition of a ‘fellow townsman’ extends from a town, a county, or a province to all Chinese people worldwide.
Yan Fei took Lin Baoguo’s suitcase, and in the distance, a middle-aged man ran over shouting for his dad and took the old man’s belongings. Before knowing each other too well, Lin Baoguo walked a few steps and relaxed, jumping around: “It feels good to have my feet on the ground, sitting on a plane above the sea makes worry about falling…”
Yan Fei and Chen Yingjun weren’t moved by these words, but the old man nad Sun next to them laughed heartily: “Yes, yes, I also feel uneasy on the plane; it feels more secure when your feet are on the ground!”
The pure country accent made it sound particularly endearing.
Supposedly, the old man’s son is quite capable, having worked as an executive in the Capital before. His daughter-in-law is also impressive, reportedly very well-educated. According to the old man, they ‘got a crazy idea’ to start a farm over here.
It’s a farm for agriculture, not livestock.
After exchanging business cards with Yan Fei, the middle-aged man left with his father.
Yan Fei looked at the business card and suddenly started laughing. The curious Chen Yingjun leaned in to take a look and was confused: “What’s on it?”
“South Wilderness Farm, Sun Maocai,” Yan Fei said with a smile.
Lin Baoguo and Chen Yingjun took a mont to digest the information before they understood—it used to be that China only had the North Wilderness, and now they’ve moved far south of China to establish a farm nad ‘South Wilderness.’ Is this what expanding territories looks like?
Intellectuals are truly interesting; without careful thought, it’s hard to grasp the underlying aning.
Originally, they planned to grab a bite to eat first, but Lin Baoguo waved it off: “If you two are hungry, go eat. I can’t stomach anything after flying, it always makes uncomfortable. I ate a bit on the plane, and my stomach still feels as solid as a rock…”
So they decided not to eat, and Old Chen drove around as a guide, introducing the current state of the ranch, until Lin Baoguo started dozing off, and Yan Fei switched with Chen Yingjun to keep driving.
The drive was quite long, with few cars and people on the road; once you’ve seen enough scenery, it all looks the sa, making it easy to get sleepy.
…
By the ti they got ho, it was almost dark, and after so eating and drinking, they went to sleep. To celebrate Director Lin’s arrival, Yan Fei specially slaughtered a cow.
Early the next morning, two cars departed from the ranch towards the city; one had Chen Yingjun, Heizi, and Chen Yingjun’s assistant Er Bao. The other was Yan Fei and his wife, with Lin Baoguo in the sa car.
During the drive, the uncle and nephew chatted endlessly about family matters. Once they reached Amora City, Lin Baoguo switched cars with Chen Yingjun. It wasn’t because the nephew couldn’t out-talk the uncle; rather, Yan Fei had important business to attend to.
At the at and Livestock Association, Yan Fei made a phone call at the entrance, and soon a red-faced white man ca out, looking as if he had been drinking—it’s clear he seed sun-kissed, proving not all white people remain pale all the ti.
“Mr. Yan, welco,” the red-faced man warmly greeted from afar.
In a short period, Yan Fei had purchased most of the surrounding cattle, bringing considerable profits to the association. The market prices were driven up significantly; this man was Lawrence, the association’s representative in Amora City, and it was no wonder he was pleased.
Facing the man’s open arms, Yan Fei quickly extended his hand—who would want to hug a big guy?
“Lawrence, I’m planning sothing big,” Yan Fei didn’t beat around the bush. “My ranch is about to release the first batch of cattle for sale in the coming days!”
“Sothing big?” Lawrence was taken aback, then imdiately chuckled. “Great! Let’s go inside and talk!”
