Even though Yan Fei shouted quickly, the eager driver was so excited he stalled the car once.
When the car started again, the wheels had just begun to turn and hadn’t gained speed when a row of security cars opposite blocked their way. A few security officers got out, pointing their weapons at them, shouting, "Get out of the car for inspection..."
The enthusiastic driver stopped the car, opened the door, and rushed out, unfazed by the dark muzzle of guns. At this mont, there was no sign of his earlier obsequiousness or panic.
He pulled out an ID and shouted to the others, "I’m Doctor Lucas from St. George Hospital, just got off work and passing by here. Everyone, I don’t want to say too much, but you are far too late. If I hadn’t turned back in ti, by the ti you arrived, I’d have been a corpse already!"
Yan Fei was taken aback at the first sentence, wondering what aweso thing this was, only to find it was just a doctor! Doctors are so aweso here, seems like I still lack experience.
He thought to himself that he really needed to continue learning while out there, as things are different everywhere, and apparently doctors can be quite influential here.
Of course, not all doctors are influential, and Yan Fei understood this well. He’d seen St. George Hospital while shopping around these days; it’s not only big but quite renowned. It seems Doctor Lucas is quite capable; otherwise, he wouldn’t speak to security officers like that.
Hearing Lucas’s words, those security officers were embarrassed. A few of them awkwardly lowered their weapons and the leader ca up, not bothering to check identity further, but instead, apologized to Lucas first.
Lucas accepted their apology, but upon hearing their request to assist in an investigation the next day, he reluctantly said, "Gentlen, I can’t guarantee I’ll be free tomorrow. If I am, I will go."
"What about the two of them?" the security officer pointed to Yan Fei and his companion.
"They’re my friends." Lucas glanced at the two. "If they’re free, hmm, they might go too."
Then he waved a hand: "Can I go ho now? I’ve just finished working overti, and you wouldn’t want a sleep-deprived doctor on the operating table tomorrow, would you?"
Back in the car, he explained to Yan Fei and the others, "I didn’t do it on purpose, only this way can I get ho quickly to sleep. Otherwise, they’d stick around and make you give a witness testimony on the spot, which is quite troubleso. At least, it wouldn’t let you sleep well tonight!"
Clearly, in Doctor Lucas’s eyes, the brawl of two hundred people over there was not as important as getting ho to sleep.
Yan Fei was just thinking this when he saw Lucas sigh again: "I have to hurry back to rest, or else tomorrow will be very busy. You saw it just now, many people were injured..."
...
Daniel had just gotten ho and hadn’t finished his shower when he hurriedly ca out to pick up the phone. After looking at the number, he answered... Normally, a call at this ti at night is likely because a client has an ergency problem.
Indeed, there was a client problem, so he quickly cleaned himself, changed clothes, and without even calling his assistant, drove directly to the hotel entrance where he had just dropped Yan Fei and the others — a new business deal had started!
Chen Yingjun listened with the excitent of a participant as Yan Fei recounted the story. It wasn’t that Yan Fei liked to make a fuss, but Classmate Xiaochen hadn’t slept yet! Yan Fei and his companion had only been out for a short while, and Xiaochen was curious why they returned so quickly.
Yan Fei called Daniel on Lucas’s recomndation, as a precaution by having a lawyer ready. After all, he was no longer just a witness; the security officers would probably co to ask Yan Fei about the situation.
Considering Yan Fei coincidentally had the sa skin tone as those fighting, Lucas gave him this suggestion. However, Lucas himself also left his number, assuring he could co testifying for Yan Fei anyti — though he did specifically ask for Yan Fei’s number, likely not having let go of the thought of becoming an apprentice.
After Yan Fei nonchalantly recounted the events, Chen Yingjun, like he was on steroids, jumped up and down: "Had I known, I’d have gone with Brother Fei! Such a thrilling scene, and I didn’t see it with my own eyes — I’ll regret it for life..."
He actually only understood one sentence, which Yan Fei deliberately told him: out on the streets, encountered a brawl, soone rushed over and he knocked down a few people... How many exactly, about thirty or forty?
To talk to Daniel, he had to use English, and Classmate Xiaochen could only stand by as a bystander.
Yan Fei hadn’t even counted how many he knocked down, it ca up spontaneously while talking to Daniel.
Daniel seed a bit overwheld, looking like he didn’t catch it: "Mr. Yan, are you sure it was thirty or forty?"
"There should be that many." Yan Fei wasn’t too sure either. "Maybe it was forty or fifty? Those people were crazy, knowing they couldn’t win, they still rushed forward, so I could only knock them down!"
Alright then!
Daniel imdiately started asking about the events before and after, focusing on those instead of the beating. After asking, Daniel remained calm: "Alright then, Mr. Yan, you all rest first. When the security officers co, try to speak as little as possible, leave it to ."
