171: Chapter 47 Brain Cramp_1 171: Chapter 47 Brain Cramp_1 At the junction where the three were to part ways, Heizi refused to take the money with him, insisting on leaving it with Yan Fei.

Yan Fei gave him a hundred yuan to get so food before heading back.

The remaining money, he stuffed into Xu Xiaoyan’s backpack.

There was no way to put it in Dinosaur World at the mont, and he didn’t have a place on his body that could hold such a large amount of money.

As a result, the girl acted as though she was clueless.

One mont, she’d touch her backpack and beam with joy, then the next, she’d be on high alert, watching everyone around her, as though she feared soone would rob her.

Yan Fei then told her, “You’re with !

Are you still worried about soone taking your money?”

At that, the girl gave him a sidelong glance, her eyes full of laughter, and then there was only one thing left for her to do.

Whenever she had a mont, she’d pat her small backpack and revel in giddy delight.

Yan Fei also laughed.

The way the girl had just glanced at him had caused his heart to tremble involuntarily, several tis over.

He couldn’t put it into words, but he felt a wonderful ticklish sensation inside, leaving only his laughter behind.

After taking so long, the two dazed travelers had lost track of ti and their hunger.

When they finally arrived at the place where Xu Xiaoyan’s class reunion was to take place, they found that the other students were already in the midst of their tearful goodbyes!

Everyone had already eaten, and the gathering was starting to wind down!

Back then, telephones were scarce, and most of the communication in rural areas was by letters.

Once students dispersed after receiving their notifications—so did not even receive them—it would be hard for them to et in the short term.

Even though most of their classmates were in the sa county, their chances of actually seeing each other could have been slim—they might have just heard about each other’s whereabouts through mutual friends.

Given these circumstances, everyone had a lot to talk about.

Yan Fei, standing alone to one side, watched Xu Xiaoyan speak with her classmates.

It took her a long, long ti before she finally ca over to him.

“Yan Xiaofei, I am starving.

What should I do?” The girl muttered as soon as she approached him, her brows furrowed.

Not many eateries were still open around that ti.

Most of the restaurants had already wrapped up for the day and wouldn’t prepare just two bowls of rice.

Yan Fei had considered taking the girl ho to cook so food, but he knew she would feel embarrassed.

He glanced around and, luckily, found a pancake stall which was still open.

“Let’s get these for now to hold us over.

We’ll find sothing else to eat after this.” Yan Fei bought two Beef Tongue Pancakes and handed one to Xu Xiaoyan.

The Beef Tongue Pancake automatically derives its na from its shape.

As is self-evident, it refers to a pancake shaped like a cow’s tongue.

The hallmark of this type of pancake is its crispness.

The whole pancake is made up of many layers, with each of them being particularly thin.

The result is a delicious, crunchy, and fragrant treat.

The two then set off again, visiting a few other local food stalls and having a makeshift lunch together.

The girl was easy to please—she rarely indulged herself when money was tight, and now she was overjoyed at every morsel they shared, which even stimulated Yan Fei’s appetite.

After their al, they returned ho by bus.

The journey seed to pass quite quickly because they were in each other’s company.

When they got off at the cattle farm, Yan Fei noticed Heizi sitting against the building’s wall like a lump of noodles before he could even greet the dogs that had raced over to see him.

Heizi was clutching an empty bowl, and his clothes bore the unmistakable marks of damp earth and wet dirt.

He looked as beaten as could be.

Yan Fei was puzzled and asked him, “What happened to you?”

Xu Xiaoyan was just as taken aback and bombarded Heizi with questions: “What happened to you?

Did sothing happen on your way back with the cattle?

Are you okay?

Where’s the cow?”

Heizi, who was barely clinging onto consciousness, rolled his eyes and weakly raised a flabby arm to point sowhere in the distance, “The cow’s over there, and I’m here.

The cow’s fine, and I’m…

still alive…”

Fang Xiaoqing, who was studying in the room adjacent, could no longer hold back her laughter upon hearing their exchange.

As she giggled, she recounted the tale of Heizi’s “heroic deeds”.

While she was technically speaking to both Yan Fei and Xu Xiaoyan, it was really ant for just the latter, having completely disregarded Yan Fei.

After parting ways with Xu Xiaoyan and Yan Fei in town, Heizi had gone off to have a al.

He had eaten quite early, so he didn’t have to worry about finding a place.

With money in his pocket, he could afford to be generous.

He found a random restaurant and ordered a large bowl of noodles with extra at.

After a very satisfying al, he bought a bottle of Jianlibao and wandered off, leading the cow as he drank, deliriously happy.

The afternoon heat in the sumrs could be intense, but since Heizi wasn’t in a rush, he took his ti.

He would find so shade under a tree to rest every now and then.

During these breaks, he could also let the cow graze.

If things had gone as planned, it would have been an easy, leisurely walk—he could enjoy the cool breeze while taking in the beautiful scenery.

However, when Heizi reached a river, he had a sudden brainwave.

He recalled that on their journey earlier, the calf had carried Xu Xiaoyan across the river and even travelled quite a distance with her riding on its back.

This prompted him to consider what it would feel like to ride the calf himself.

During the height of sumr, taking a dip in the river would have felt heavenly.

The riverbed was sandy, making it the perfect spot for a swim and so fun.

But no, Heizi had to act on a whim and decided he just had to ride the cow.

The calf was nice and ta—it had been fed by Heizi at the cattle farm several tis and had shared so “hardships” with him.

After Heizi had comforted the calf for awhile, it let him mount it quietly.

Although it shifted uncomfortably at first, it didn’t do anything drastic.

Then it was ti to cross the river.

Heizi, perched on the back of the calf, was in unusually high spirits.

Gazing at the rippling water around him and savouring the gentle breeze, he cheered the calf on with a kick and a tug at the reins, shouting, “Giddy up…

giddy up…”

The calf, spurred on, instinctively sped up.

However, since the riverbed was sandy, it slowed its pace considerably despite the hastening.

Heizi wasn’t bothered by this, though.

After cheering the calf on several tis, he started imagining himself as a knight atop his valiant steed.

In his mind, the calf had beco a BMW.

As he got more involved, he began slapping the calf on the neck to urge it faster.

Undeterred, he kept slapping the calf’s back harder and harder to make it go faster.

The calf, being patient as cows are, let out a couple of cries.

And when it was near the riverbank, it made a sudden bounce—Heizi obviously fell off because he had never ridden a cow before.

The calf took off running, leaving a drenched and muddy Heizi to scramble to his feet to give chase.
