Chapter 1683: Chapter 798: Don’t Be Too Nice to (Happy Dragon Boat Festival)

There’s a song lyric that goes, “Until you’re covered in scars, you won’t understand regret…”

Abe Sanders was now undeniably covered in scars. After enduring the blows of lunatic criminals and mad scientists, his capacity for acceptance had grown so robust it even surprised himself—realizing he was no longer on Earth didn’t even cause him to faint!

He truly regretted it. If he had known what kind of hellhole this was, he should’ve cooperated from the start. Now he’d suffered all that for nothing…

The pterosaurs in the sky flew gracefully. Abe silently watched them for a while before suddenly turning to Jas and saying, “So, will my uncle end up here in a few days too? Can I go fetch him myself when the ti cos, to save him from running into that lunatic?”

It’s said that setbacks are blessings in disguise. Just look at Mr. Sanders—after a little bit of hardship, his ideological awakening has soared to a whole new level!

anwhile, Yan Fei, who hadn’t experienced such setbacks, was in way too good a mood. Even Yang Xing couldn’t help but laugh at his expression. “What’s up with you? So cheerful first thing in the morning?”

“Mhm!” Yan Fei nodded. “Before I ca, everyone said the ti difference would be tough, and I was a little worried. But I’ve been here just one day, and I’m already adjusted. Didn’t even feel the ti difference one bit.”

“That’s true, you seem to be adapting really well,” Yang Xing agreed. “The first ti I ca here, I experienced that awful feeling of knowing you should sleep but being unable to. It was miserable!”

“Looks like I’m pretty lucky.” Yan Fei shalessly replied.

He wasn’t just unaffected by the ti difference; he’d already “toured” multiple cities overnight, most of which ordinary people might never “visit” in their entire lives. Yet here he was, dare ntioning ti differences—truly a guy whose face is thicker than bulletproof armor.

After breakfast, the two of them strolled through the campus, and Yan Fei finally started to take a serious look at this world-renowned university.

It’s like how TV dramas never bother to show a bookworm reading morning, noon, and night. In many people’s minds, Arican universities are all about freedom and openness, while schools back ho seem dull and lifeless.

But in reality, no matter where you are, there are always plenty of people burying their heads in books. From what Yan Fei saw, there were students rushing around early in the morning, others holding textbooks for morning reading, skipping even breakfast, and a few wasting the best hours of the day. Compared to the huge overall student population here, though, the latter was just a tiny fraction.

After all, this wasn’t one of those run-down “diploma mills.” The ones coasting through were in the minority.

The two of them eventually made their way to Professor Hans Sloan’s lab. Upon entering, Yan Fei uncharacteristically kept quiet, carefully observing how the lab operated. This was exactly what he needed to learn and was most interested in.

Unfortunately, the dinosaur fossils were still en route, so the discussions between Yang Xing and Hans were entirely about so current doubts in paleontological fossil research. Yan Fei could only act as a silent listener for now. Thankfully, Hans wasn’t the type of stuffy academic. Noticing Yan Fei seed particularly curious about the lab, he imdiately had a student show Yan Fei around.

Yan Fei feigned happiness as he thanked Professor Hans and then followed a sowhat frail-looking student to begin his laboratory tour.

Internally, though, he felt a bit let down. Why hadn’t he run into one of those blatantly discriminatory types, who’d snub him hard?

At his core, Boss Yan was a pretty reasonable guy. Even if soone treated him differently because of his skin color, as long as they harbored goodwill, he couldn’t bring himself to retaliate by sending them to study living dinosaurs. But, standing in this well-equipped lab, he couldn’t help but feel a twinge of envy.

People are often unconsciously influenced by others, and Professor Hans was an upright, friendly, and cheerful person. This was evident the first ti he t Yan Fei.

Most of the lab mbers had been influenced by Hans’s personality. Many busy individuals, seeing Yan Fei being guided around, would spare a mont to give him a kind smile. So of the less busy ones even greeted him, and one even mustered a rather clumsy “Ni Hao!” in Chinese.

Boss Yan couldn’t help but feel a bit helpless inside…

After completing a round of the lab, Yan Fei was sowhat unwilling to give up. He asked Aaron, the student showing him around, “Can we visit the other labs too? I really like the atmosphere here and want to see more, learn more.”

Aaron blinked uneasily, scratching the freckles on his face. “But I still have to help my advisor with an experint. Maybe after lunch? I have a senior friend who works as an assistant in Professor Harris’s lab. We can go there when Professor Harris isn’t around.”

“Why do we need to wait for Professor Harris to be absent to visit?” Yan Fei asked.

“Oh, he doesn’t really like people touring his lab. Supposedly, it’s because his research data got stolen when he was younger,” Aaron explained.

“Oh!” Yan Fei looked slightly disappointed. He had hoped Aaron would say that Professor Harris would judge people with a biased eye. If that weren’t the case, it no longer mattered whether he visited or not.

“Xiao Fei!” At that mont, Yang Xing called to him from afar. “Professor Torres just arrived with his fossils. Let’s head over now!”
