Chapter 1650: Chapter 785 Departure to the Capital
Because of the Little Dark-skinned Girl situation, after dinner, the girls lost interest in staying longer. They helped tidy up the kitchen and left early.
Once everyone was gone, Xu Xiaoyan was ready to sit down and have a proper talk with Yan Fei about the Little Dark-skinned Girl. But Yan Fei, who had been itching all afternoon, couldn’t hold it in any longer.
“What’s your take on the ocean thing…” Xu Xiaoyan asked seriously.
“Haven’t thought about it, just been thinking about you…” Yan Fei said as he reached out toward her.
“Yan Xiaofei, what are you doing? I’m trying to talk business!” Xu Xiaoyan was exasperated.
“I don’t care. Who told you to dress so seductively today? It’s late, co on, let’s go to bed…” Yan Fei scooped her up and headed upstairs. After a few steps, he got impatient and leapt straight up with a burst of energy.
Luckily, this house was self-built, with a high ceiling. Otherwise, that jump would’ve punched a hole in the roof, and the two of them could’ve enjoyed the night sky from their bed tonight.
“Put down, you scoundrel! Yan Xiaofei, I’m mad!” The girl pounded on his chest with all her might, but her expression betrayed more of a playful pout than actual anger. “The sky’s still bright!”
“Early to bed, early to rise—it’s good for your health…” Yan Fei’s reasoning was irrefutable.
“You…” The girl knew she couldn’t resist him. Besides, her will to resist was pretty weak to begin with. “Fine, at least let take off my coat—it’s new, don’t wrinkle it…”
“No need, new clothes look great on you!”
“Then at least take off my shoes…”
“Doesn’t matter. New shoes aren’t dirty.” Yan Fei chuckled. “I used to ask you to wear heels, but you never did. This pair has heels—don’t you think they make your legs look longer?”
For most n, longer-looking legs aren’t really the main appeal of high heels. Of course, Yan Xiaofei wasn’t about to admit as much. Xu Xiaoyan herself had her reasons for avoiding heels before—not just because they weren’t trendy at school, but also because tall girls were still a rarity at the ti. At over 1.7 ters, she already turned heads without them.

Though Yan Fei was often in a rush, he was still a pure and honest boy at heart. As graduation approached, the girl had gradually started allowing him more freedom at night. Given their current situation, they were already behaving like a married couple in everything but the final step. The girl had co to terms with it…
But Yan, the novice, lacked experience and was overly earnest. He’d promised her once that he’d “just rub, not go in”… and he stuck to his word.
The girl, of course, had to maintain a sense of decorum. Yan Fei, being the innocent rookie he was, mistook her decorum for genuine rejection. (This just goes to show that if a guy says he’ll just rub and truly doesn’t go in—assuming he’s not physically incapable—it’s because he sincerely cherishes you…)
Still, when Yan Fei woke up the next day, he was thoroughly satisfied. His wife had allowed him to push the boundaries yet another inch. Oblivious to the fact that he’d missed yet another chance to cross the finish line, he was in an overly good mood and brimming with energy.
“When exactly are you leaving? Your passport’s ready; what are you still waiting for?” On the way to school in the morning, Xu Xiaoyan couldn’t help but bring it up again.
“No rush, no rush. In the next couple of days.” Yan Fei glanced at his wife’s outfit, a little displeased. “What’s wrong with wearing new clothes? Why keep dressing like this…”
“I don’t feel like it. We’re going to school; what’s the point of showing off? This is fine.” The girl knew what he was thinking and gave him a playful grin. “Besides, if I dress too pretty, aren’t you afraid soone might steal away?”
“Well, they’d at least have to be better than , right?” Yan Fei said confidently. “At a minimum, they need to have better kung fu than —otherwise, when I beat them up, they won’t even fight back. They also need to be richer, have more ti, and better connections—so they can handle the lawsuits after I beat them up. And of course, they need to be prettier than …”
The girl laughed uncontrollably the whole way, delighted.
At the intersection where they parted ways, Yan Fei stopped at the Agricultural University’s gate but didn’t go in. Instead, he walked a bit further, turned left, walked so more, turned left again, and kept walking… until he was ho!
Starting anything is hard, and skipping class is no exception. For a habitual class-skipper like Yan Fei, the decision was simple—go if he wanted, or skip if he didn’t. Freedom was just that straightforward! In fact, he was learning more in the lab than he would in class. Though the lab instructors were busy, plenty of grad students and research assistants happily helped him catch up.
After spending half an afternoon wandering the lab, he went ho for a while. The Little Blackbird made a silent loop around the Provincial City. When it returned, Yan Fei muttered to himself that he shouldn’t keep Yang Xing waiting too long.
Hearing this, one of the teachers couldn’t help but tease him, “Boss Yan, you’ve got the chance to study abroad. Why haven’t you left yet? If it were , even at my age, I’d run faster than you!”
Yan Fei replied with a grin, “After we finish this project, I’ll fund a group trip abroad for everyone.”
“Forget a trip abroad. The paperwork’s too much hassle. Just taking a tour around the country would be nice.” Another teacher laughed. “Boss Yan, you better keep your word—let’s all work hard!”
That last remark was aid at the others in the lab, and everyone imdiately laughed and echoed their agreent to work diligently.
Since the incident with Teacher Yu, although Yan Fei’s actions had seed a bit nouveau riche at the ti, his standing in the eyes of the faculty and students had unquestionably risen significantly.
