1230: Chapter 612 Accidental Encounter_2 1230: Chapter 612 Accidental Encounter_2 Live or die.

This choice is as difficult as ascending to the heavens, and as easy as flipping one’s hand.

If Yan Fei had continued to let them live a life where each day was not guaranteed, perhaps so of them would have crumbled, while others would have beco even more resolved in their beliefs.

But after enduring hardship and personally participating in the establishnt of the base, they had fought hard for a relatively stable life.

Now, making a choice had beco much easier for them.

Xiaohei still flew about in the city, occasionally returning to see if those people had provided any new information.

The laboratory was different from the ranch, and Yan Fei felt he needed to be more careful and make thorough inquiries.

After all, this was delicate work, involving instrunts he didn’t understand.

What if he brought them ho only to find out he was missing sothing essential and couldn’t use them?

That would be a real loss, wouldn’t it?

This was all Yan Fei’s imagination.

Watching TV used to require an antenna, and using a computer required a voltage stabilizer—nowadays, sotis while watching TV, the screen suddenly enlarges or shrinks, and the lights flicker as well.

Don’t be afraid; it’s not a haunting, just voltage instability.

Perhaps those instrunts also had so matching devices not placed together!

Of course, it wasn’t enough to just move the equipnt; one must have a few people who knew how to operate it.

Nowadays isn’t it all about after-sales service?

Buy a video player or a computer, and if you encounter any problems, a phone call results in soone explaining it to you.

It wouldn’t be right to bother moving all this equipnt without bringing a few operators along, would it?

This was precisely why Yan Fei had been flying around here for most of the day.

He not only had to find the right laboratory but also needed to observe which people inside were suitable—those who understood the instrunts, could conduct experints, and were capable of research.

While he was contemplating, he suddenly caught sight of a sowhat familiar figure.

How strange to run into an acquaintance here of all places.

Indeed an ‘acquaintance,’ except he was familiar with them, but they didn’t know him.

In the bustling streets, an ordinary-looking office worker with a briefcase hurried along the sidewalk.

At a glance, he blended in with the countless office workers who had just left work, heading ho in a hurry.

But upon closer inspection, one would notice that this young man’s steps weren’t always hurried; occasionally he would slow down as if looking at the rchandise in the shops, when in fact, he was stealthily observing behind him.

Moreover, the angle he chose was good; he always stood where the setting sun was behind him, making it difficult for anyone following to see his face clearly because of the sun’s glare.

This young man was none other than the one Deputy Director Pi from Sancha River Police Station had once taken over.

Deputy Director Pi thought he was being secretive, but in front of soone capable of ‘Seventy-two changes,’ his so-called secret etings were nothing more than self-delusion.

Yan Fei didn’t want to ddle, as he was busy observing the next laboratory.

But then he thought about it, Director Pi was actually quite a decent person, and everyone said Boss Yan was soone who valued old acquaintances, not just things he had used or places he had been, but also the people he knew.

So, without a second thought, Boss Yan decided to give it a glance.

Observing from above really is an interesting affair.

It’s like when you were at school, where students would use their books to cover their faces and engage in small acts of mischief below, like stealthily reading novels, listening to Walkmans, or even secretly holding hands with the opposite sex.

Those students thought they were being discreet, but from the teacher’s perspective on the podium, they were plainly visible if the teacher chose to look.

Now, the young man making the contact also employed a set of skilled counter-surveillance techniques, seemingly inconspicuous amongst the crowd.

However, from a viewpoint above, it was quite easy to spot the peculiarities in his behavior that distinguished him from others.

The person following him was no different.

At the mont, that man seed to be idly doing nothing.

Whenever the young man he was eting stopped, he either continued to walk forward with an expressionless face or pretended to be looking around at the crowd and shops on both sides of the street.

However, for Xiaohei, the bird with eyes like binoculars, perched high above and watching him, these little movents, along with so small details, were impossible to hide.

Especially when the young man began to walk normally again, the man would occasionally hurry a few steps or lower his head, muttering sothing—how obvious!

The next mont, the tracking man encountered a frustrating incident.

As he passed a shop, pretending to shield his eyes from the sunlight and looking inside through the large glass window to disguise his surveillance, he heard a crash.

Then, an entire pane of glass just shattered to the ground.

Instantly, people on both sides of the street turned to look.

One could see a person standing in front of the broken glass with hands raised, a look of bewildernt on their face!

It was all too apparent—the poor fellow had probably just wanted to lean on the glass to see sothing inside the shop but pressed too hard and shattered the glass!

The person involved was dumbfounded: I really was just shielding my eyes from the sun, I didn’t even touch the glass!

Besides, even touching wouldn’t have shattered this glass—how could the large windows facing the sidewalk in a shop be so fragile?

But no one was considering that at the mont, as the various gazes of either schadenfreude or keen interest in the commotion already said it all—even if soone did think it over, they might have assud that the glass already had a flaw and was on the verge of breaking, shattered by the re touch of the unlucky guy.

As one could expect, when the owner heard the noise and ca out, they imdiately grabbed the unlucky fellow who was trying to leave stealthily.

No matter the outco of this situation, at least the young man ahead had taken the opportunity to slip away without a trace.

Without a trace was in reference to the tracker, for the birds flying in the sky, things like ‘without a trace’ simply didn’t apply.

At this mont, Yan Fei was simply acting out of pure curiosity, wanting to see what the young man was up to.

The young man wandered through the streets and alleys, taking countless turns before finally entering a small store.

After pretending to shop for a while and waiting a bit, he followed the shopkeeper to the back.

Once the shopkeeper sent a girl out to watch the shop, the young man imdiately wiped so non-existent sweat off his brow, his face filled with relief, “I almost got tracked.

Luckily, that person ran into so trouble, otherwise getting away would have been quite difficult.”

The shopkeeper, a middle-aged man, imdiately beca alert, “What happened?”

The young man just smiled, “Nothing much, I guess I’ve been around here too long, and it caught so people’s attention.”

“Then let’s quickly find you another place.

I’ll file a request; stay put for the next few days, and don’t run around outside unnecessarily,” the shopkeeper decided after thinking it over.

The young man nodded and then asked with so confusion, “Having observe around here for so long without any results, is what we’re doing actually useful?”

“Don’t worry, have a drink to calm your nerves first,” the shopkeeper poured him a cup of tea.

“What do you think is the cause of the supernatural events in this area over the past two years?”

After pondering, the young man replied, “Anyway, I don’t think it’s high-tech experints.

It feels too supernatural, with no clues whatsoever; so many items, even people and Wagyu cattle, just vanish.

It seems more like those mysterious disappearances in Bermuda…”

“Let’s not talk about those mysterious and creepy things,” the shopkeeper waved his hand dismissively.

“Whatever it is, there has to be a reason.

The Japanese disappearing without a trace is abnormal.

We must maintain sufficient vigilance towards this country.

Even if it ant wasting two years of effort, I think it’s worth it.

If there is any clue, being here ensures that we receive the ssage right away…”

Yan Fei understood; it turned out that the reason this young man was here had sothing to do with his own mission…
