A short while later, Davian was making his way back to the car with Nikolai in tow, the grumpy Mafia King getting in the backseat.
"Caspian called while you were away," Lake said with a pleasant expression, "They’re almost done getting ready."
Nikolai couldn’t hold on to his anger, not when everyone in the car was so polite, grateful even, it was a strange way to be treated.
Caspian had already been inford that Nikolai would be tagging along, and Asher had also given the go-ahead. The Mafia King’s reluctant presence was a bit familiar now.
When they got to Asher’s place, they were already out in front, Caspian glowing like the sun at getting to do what he wanted.
They only drove a short distance away from the mansion before the cars in front slowed to a stop.
The only person caught off guard was Nikolai, everyone else already knew what the camping trip was going to be like.
Caspian imdiately hopped out of his mate’s car and went skipping over to Lake with a bright grin on his face.
Lake let himself be taken out of the car, Caspian leading them to a nearby tree so they were out of the sun.
He called Patty and Rosie over next while letting Jael handle all the luggage they packed.
Rosie still held her little overnight bag, and so did Patty. Caspian and Lake were completely empty-handed when they started the hike to the campsite their mates handling their bags while they chatted happily in front, leading the way - with a map, of course.
This ant that Patty and Rosie ended up walking together, the footpath barely wide enough to accommodate two people walking side by side.
Asher and Davian had carried most of the luggage, bags hanging off the Alphas’ arms and shoulders. Jael hadn’t gotten in the middle of their escalating competition, because it ant that he simply had to carry a single bag.
He drew the rear with Nikolai, the Alpha gritting his teeth when he was whipped by a branch that Asher had strong-ard out of his way which rebounded to hit him in the face.
"Fuck I need a smoke," He muttered under his breath, already having a terrible ti, Rosie far away from him.
Jael felt the sa way but he didn’t say it out loud, turning to Nikolai with a curious expression. If they had placed bets, he would have lost because he didn’t see the Mafia King willingly signing up for this.
"You know, you can just turn around and go ho," Jael reminded him.
Nikolai’s dark blue eyes simred with barely banked violence and Jael wisely shut his mouth, he would rather this camp trip didn’t turn into a blood bath.
Even though Jael had a lot to say about Caspian’s extravagant preparations, he had been looking forward to the camping trip. Everyone was here, he could hear Caspian’s laughter from the front of the group.
Camping started off with a blast, with everyone pitching in to set up the tents. Rosie was a natural at it, and as soon as the first tent was up, she patted it with an open smile. "Patty and I will take this," She announced glibly.
Jael barely batted an eye at that, Caspian had been unable to make a decision so he ended up buying a variety of tents, and with Asher and Davian eager to do the heavy lifting, they had brought more than enough tents.
He set up his single tent close to the stream, a short distance away from everyone else’s tents.
After the tents were all set up, they imdiately had a campfire roaring, and then they decided to do so fishing. It was still early in the afternoon on the first day of their camping trip, and although there was prepackaged food, fishing was fun...
Until a fish was caught... Lake was imdiately gagging when Davian hurried over to show him the massive squirming fish he had caught, and it all went downhill from there.
A line of fire ants had crawled through Patty and Rosie’s tent sending the Ogas dashing out screaming their heads off...
The campfire had barely been roaring for an hour before the tents were coming down. The girls had luckily not been bitten but they were traumatized enough not to want to spend the night in the woods.
"I should have turned around and gone ho," Nikola muttered when they were hiking back to where their cars had been parked.
The entire ordeal took less than three hours, valuable ti lost. As soon as they got to the road, a car was already waiting for Nikolai, the Alpha got in without so much as a goodbye, peeling out.
Lake had already gotten over his nausea and Patty, and Rosie were smiling and laughing again.
Caspian took advantage of the crowd and invited everyone in to watch a movie and maybe stay for dinner before leaving.
They had already planned their day around camping so it wasn’t like anyone had anything better to do. It turned out much better than camping had gone, the mansion lively.
Lake didn’t leave until it was late, Caspian standing on the stairs waving them off with his mate by his side.
Rosie was dozing off in the backseat, her curly ginger hair down, framing her face.
They dropped off Rosie at her apartnt, the secretary taking extra bags with her because Caspian had been quick to pack up leftovers for anyone he could convince to take them.
"Take the day off tomorrow," Lake called to her out the window, leaning back in his seat.
They waited until she was safe in her apartnt before Davian drove off. They had had a busy day, but now they could go ho to their safe space and rest up from the day.
Lake looked over at Davian who had made sure that everyone had seen his mating mark, feeling light like he had been stuffed with cotton.
"I love you," He blurted out, his eyes starting to get heavy.
Davian did a double-take, his smile more visible now that it was just him and Lake. "I love you too."
Lake heard him this ti... letting his eyes slip close. Davian would get them ho, and Davian would take him to bed. He didn’t have to worry, his mate would take care of him.
