Doctor Perez showed up at the mansion again when the test results were ready, bringing good news as well as doing a routine check-up before leaving.
The ho clinic on the ground floor was starting to co together, Doctor Perez handling the machines that needed to be bought. The doctor left with a smile when he was all done, urging them to reach out if anything went wrong.
Lake didn’t mind having the baby at the mansion, it was a far safer option, and that way they wouldn’t have to get on the road when the ti ca.
It had been roughly about a month since the morning his scent changed and his tummy was still as flat but the rest of his body was slowly changing.
Lake knew that putting on weight had less to do with the baby and more to do with how much chocolate-flavored dessert he ate... although, that was because he was pregnant, so...
He was currently seated behind his desk at FluxCorp, it was still morning so Davian was at his cooking school. It had already been two weeks since the Alpha applied, and although Lake had told him he could take another class, he doubted Davian would do that.
"Lake," Rosie walked in after brief knocking, her signature device in hand. "There’s another guy from MoonShade."
Lake looked up from his system with a sour expression, "If he’s looking for a deal on the drugs they synthesized, Nikolai’s casino is open 24/7."
"Should I see him out?" The secretary was quick to suggest. Lake’s schedule was filled up, she would strike out as many unnecessary people as possible.
Lake made a sound of dissatisfaction, MoonShade was a well-known na downtown, and although there were no allies between gangs and Mafia Houses, they were on sowhat decent terms with each other.
He hadn’t been on seat long enough to make any major changes so for now, he was just maintaining the things Davian already set up.
"Just let him in," He muttered, the sooner he saw the gang mber, the sooner he could move on with his day.
Rosie left after his words, returning shortly after. As the door opened again, Lake’s phone pinged, a smile blooming on his face at the contents of the ssage.
Davian had taken to sending him pictures of the dishes he made recently, and it was the highlight of Lake’s day, it also helped that the Alpha brought the food he made afterward.
Davian would be back soon, Lake couldn’t wait to eat lunch with him.
The picture he had just gotten made dealing with the MoonShade mber much easier.
He glanced up at the Alpha in a well-worn leather jacket, "Take a seat." He offered politely, leaning back in his seat.
The representative from the downtown gang was different from the last one but interestingly, he didn’t seem surprised to see him.
Even after the information of Lake running the Black Mafia spread, first-ti visitors were always taken aback like they were hoping the news they had gotten was fake.
Lake didn’t dwell on that, he would rather his secondary gender and pregnancy wasn’t thrown in his face constantly while he was just trying to get so work done.
Rosie hung around the door, she often stayed in the office with Lake while he had his appointnts unless she was sent out.
"Well?" Lake prompted impatiently when the Alpha said nothing, he didn’t even bother to take a seat either, hanging back.
"It’s got to do with sothing real important." The Alpha finally spoke, his voice gruff. "Send the secretary out."
Lake found it harder to keep the disapproval off his face. They couldn’t be more disinterested in the hard drugs they prided themselves on synthesizing.
"Rosie can stay. If you don’t like it, you’re free to leave." He said shortly, his patience had completely run out.
The Alpha approached the chair he had offered him earlier, sitting quietly.
Lake glanced down at the screen in front of him and then looked up to find himself facing the barrel of a gun.
"Don’t make any sudden movents," The Alpha spoke, his voice quiet enough not to carry, his pale eyes were feverish, pupils dilated. "Or I’ll blow your head clean off."
Lake looked at the black hole of the gun’s barrel that could end his life with the simple press of a trigger, his hands laced together on his thighs.
"I won’t. What do you want?" He asked levelly.
Lake never imagined that he would have to deal with this. Sure, his job was dangerous but he sat in an airconditioned office and dealt with reports and files. Sotis, it was easy to forget the danger.
He didn’t expect it but he didn’t panic, he glanced at Rosie to find her tapping on the pad she held. The secretary probably thought it was truly an important conversation and didn’t want to interrupt.
Rosie was too good of a secretary, this was the one ti he needed her to do sothing out of character.
Lake sighed as he waited for whatever unhinged request the Alpha had, his brain working double ti to figure out a way to get out of this alive.
"Nothing," The Alpha said with a blissful smile, his hand steady. "You know, even though I was born and raised downtown, I always admired the Black Mafia House. It was my dream to one day be a part of it but with my background, I couldn’t..."
Lake fought the urge to check the ti, he honestly wished the gang mber had just asked for money or sothing, he didn’t want to hear his life story.
"I can’t stand by and watch it beco a mockery of what it once was. Ogas aren’t fit to run a Mafia House..."
Lake silently listened as the Alpha prattled on, so he wasn’t just crazy, he was also an asshole.
His phone rang then dragging both their attention to the vibrating device. It was Davian.
"Want to express your grievances to Mafia King Davian directly?" Lake spoke for the first ti, unruffled.
