"How do you feel?" Davian’s low voice rumbled through him.
"Sleepy." Lake mumbled.
"You haven’t had pancakes yet," Davian reminded him, but there was no urgency or judgnt in his tone.
Lake’s next response was unintelligible, his eyes drifting close with the taste of dark chocolate on the back of his tongue.
Davian held him till he was asleep, a worried frown on his face.
Doctor Perez wasn’t supposed to be by for another week or two for the next checkup. The doctor would also bring with him the results of the first test.
But he would have the doctor co over the next morning before they had to go to the festival.
Davian was loathe to leave the bed, but he knew that Lake hated to waste food, so he got to his feet to deal with the rest of the pancakes. When he was done, he returned to the bedroom to find Lake stirring.
He leaned against the doorway to watch him, "How do you feel?"
Lake’s hair was wild after he sat up, blinding reaching under his pillow for sothing. "Hungry."
"The pancakes are ready," He straightened up, fighting the urge to help Lake put on his hairband and failing.
Lake easily handed over the task to Davian, resting his head against the Alpha’s torso.
Davian managed to properly put the hair accessory on, completely silent as he focused. "I can carry you to the kitchen." He half-offered, half-asked.
Lake lifted his head, "Thanks."
Davian froze for a split second, not expecting a positive response, but he was soon over it, gently picking up Lake in a way that the Oga could wrap his arms and legs around him.
"Are we eating in the kitchen?" Lake asked as they made their way down the hallway, his voice ca out a little sluggish.
"Do you mind?" Davian tasted honey, Lake’s voice beside his ear sending a bolt of lightning through his blood.
Lake’s response was a soft hum, Davian sohow managing to understand.
By the ti they got to the kitchen, the Oga was sufficiently awake, light in his eyes at the sight of the pancake stack.
"Do you need to still work today?" Davian asked as he piled on more pancakes for Lake.
Lake propped his head on his hand, "Just a couple of calls, want to keep company?"
Davian went quiet, torn, he wanted to get started on dinner so that they wouldn’t need to order in, but he also wanted to spend ti with Lake.
"Yeah..."
They ended up having takeout for dinner, Davian informing Lake about wanting to invite Doctor Perez the next morning for his fits of nausea.
"At least I haven’t got morning sickness," Lake said lightly.
They were eating in the kitchen again, it was just the two of them, and it was also easier.
Davian had a dark furrow on his brow, more worried about this than Lake seed to be.
"Will you have ti for your cooking classes tomorrow?" He changed the topic, soft brown eyes on the Alpha seated across the counter from him.
"I doubt it," Davian muttered. If possible, he didn’t want Lake out of the mansion until it was ti for the festival. He didn’t want to wear the pregnant Oga out.
Bedti was early, Lake climbed into his bed without bothering to finish taking his shower. He was fast asleep as soon as he got into bed, his hairband getting dislodged.
Davian’s dark expression didn’t ease, gently taking out Lake’s headband.
The Oga had a soft smile on his face as he slept, and he knew that Lake wouldn’t put himself or the baby in danger, but Davian worried regardless.
Before leaving, he stopped by the bathroom to get rid of the almond body wash, making ntal calculations.
The only way to prevent a repeat of this afternoon was to replace all the scents in Lake’s bathroom with safe ones.
It was still early in the evening so it was easy to place the orders, replacing the toiletries himself.
Before he left for his room, he dimd the lights in Lake’s room, dropping one last look over his shoulder.
He wouldn’t co to bother Lake tonight, the Oga needed as much rest as he could get because tomorrow would be another hectic day.
It was no surprise that he was the one most affected by that decision, staying up until well past midnight, unable to fall asleep.
Just as he started to get drowsy, the connecting door was opened, a familiar figure standing on the other side.
Davian shot up so fast his head spun, "Lake? What’s wrong?"
The Oga just marched right in and held out a hand.
Davian took it first and asked questions later, "Are you alright? Do you need sothing?"
"Yes, you were supposed to sleep in my bed, doctor’s orders." Lake finally gave him an answer, pulling him through the connecting door to the other room.
Davian didn’t protest, Lake could at least sleep sowhat without him, but he was hopeless, he couldn’t hope to catch a wink of sleep unless the Oga was beside him.
Davian was imdiately fast asleep as soon as his head touched the honey-lemon-scented pillows, so he didn’t see Lake stare at him with an unbearably soft look in his eyes.
The Oga moved closer before letting his eyes slip close.
Davian was the first one up, but this ti his head was quiet. None of the panic he usually had when he woke up to Lake clinging to him.
The only reason he got out of bed was to make breakfast, slipping into his room to freshen up.
Before he left, he couldn’t help but take one last look at Lake who was still deeply asleep.
The Oga was ant to sleep till the sun was bright in the sky, until the sun’s rays turned his brown hair a burnished gold.
He tore himself away and started for the kitchen, wearing a black tank top that showed off his well-muscled arms.
