"Yes, move them into the study," Kaden Xavier ordered coolly, acting as if he owned the place.

’Did I agree to this?’

Just as Assistant Lynch was about to head upstairs, Wren Wynter quickly stopped him. "Wait!"

As she spoke, she turned her gaze to Kaden Xavier. "Did I say you could work here?"

"You don’t have anyone to look after you..."

"I’m a doctor. I can take care of myself," Wren Wynter cut in rcilessly, showing them the door. "Both of you can leave."

Kaden Xavier softened his voice, rubbing the bridge of his nose in frustration. "Wren, I’m worried about you being here alone."

"The security at View Gardens is excellent."

"I’ll just stay with you. I won’t talk or bother you."

"There’s no need," Wren Wynter said, leaving no room for argunt.

’If you cared so much, where were you when it mattered?’

"Then call if you need anything," Kaden Xavier urged, still worried.

It was the first ti Assistant Lynch had ever seen his boss act so subserviently.

’Sigh. He’s reaping what he sowed.’

’And so begins the epic trial of winning back the ex-wife!’

The mont the two n stepped out the door, Kaden Xavier’s phone rang.

He glanced at the na, hesitated, then answered impatiently. "Speak!"

Seraphina Sutton’s weak-sounding voice ca through the phone. "Kaden, I’m not feeling well. Can you co to the company to see ?"

"If you’re not feeling well, find a doctor. I don’t treat illnesses."

With that, Kaden Xavier hung up.

Witnessing his boss’s change in attitude toward Seraphina Sutton, Assistant Lynch had to restrain himself from applauding.

’If Mr. Xavier had been like this earlier, maybe he and Miss Wynter would never have divorced.’

「anwhile, at the airline company.」

Staring at the phone Kaden Xavier had just hung up on, Seraphina Sutton’s face turned ashen with fury. She let out a low, frustrated scream in the utility closet.

Suppressing the rage in her heart, she called Nathaniel Quinn.

But Nathaniel Quinn didn’t answer either.

This left Seraphina Sutton feeling an unprecedented level of frustration and anger.

’Why?’

’Why was everyone ignoring her?’

’Didn’t they hear her say she wasn’t feeling well?’

Unwilling to give up, Seraphina Sutton called Kaden Xavier again.

But all she heard was the ssage: "The number you have dialed is currently busy..."

She tried a few more tis, with the sa result.

’Kaden Xavier had actually blocked her!’

In disbelief, Seraphina Sutton angrily threw her phone to the ground. Then, as if possessed, she began smashing everything in the utility closet.

’When Kaden Xavier arranged for her to work as a janitor at the company, she thought she would be able to see him every day and use the opportunity to get closer to him.’

’But now, she hadn’t even caught a glimpse of him.’

Furious, Seraphina Sutton grew even more frantic, throwing all the cleaning tools onto the floor.

"What do you think you’re doing? If you’re going to have a ltdown, do it outside! Don’t disturb us while we’re working!"

Another janitor ca in pushing a cleaning cart, her eyes filled with disapproval as she looked at Seraphina Sutton.

"And you claim you used to be a flight attendant? You have no class at all. I must have been cursed for eight lifetis to be put on the sa shift as you."

Hearing this, all the grievances Seraphina Sutton had bottled up inside her ca bursting forth. With nowhere to vent her frustration, tears began to stream down her face.

"Crying again? You think soone will feel sorry for you just because you cry? Save your precious tears, little miss. No one’s watching right now, so it’s useless."

Rebuked into silence, Seraphina Sutton bit her lip, shot the other janitor a vicious glare, and stord out of the utility closet.

She ran toward the company entrance, only to crash head-on into a wall of flesh.

"Mr. Xavier, are you all right?" Assistant Lynch quickly looked at Kaden Xavier, then imdiately turned to scold the person. "Watch where you’re going! Can’t you see Mr. Xavier?"

"Kaden?" Hearing the voice, Seraphina Sutton snapped her head up.

She quickly grabbed Kaden Xavier’s hand, her voice filled with grievance and her eyes shimring with unshed tears. "Kaden, it really is you. Are you here to see ?"

Assistant Lynch hadn’t expected it to be Seraphina Sutton.

Kaden Xavier coldly shook off Seraphina Sutton’s hand, saying impatiently, "What are you doing here instead of working?"

"Kaden, I really don’t feel well. Can you take to the hospital?"

She deliberately made herself look frail, her eyes fluttering and her red lips trembling slightly. She clasped her hands over her chest, presenting the very picture of a delicate damsel unable to withstand a gust of wind.

"Assistant Lynch, you take her to the hospital. The company will reimburse the travel costs."

Throughout the entire exchange, Kaden Xavier didn’t spare Seraphina Sutton a single glance, heading straight for the locker room.

Seraphina Sutton tried to grab Kaden Xavier but was blocked by Assistant Lynch.

"Miss Sutton, Mr. Xavier has important matters to attend to today and can’t take you to the hospital. It’s all the sa if I take you. This way, please."

Seraphina Sutton was unwilling to accept this.

She stood rooted to the spot, repeatedly looking back in the direction Kaden Xavier had gone.

"Miss Sutton?" Assistant Lynch prompted.

’Good thing Mr. Xavier has a flight to pilot today,’ he thought. ’Otherwise, Seraphina Sutton’s dawdling would definitely make late getting off work.’

"Assistant Lynch... Kaden... what has he been busy with lately? Why hasn’t he co to see at Azure Dragon Bay?"

"That’s Mr. Xavier’s private business. How would an assistant like know about the boss’s personal affairs? Miss Sutton, are you still going to the hospital? If not, I have other things to attend to, so I’ll be leaving."

Assistant Lynch gave Seraphina Sutton a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. His flawless reply montarily stumped her.

Seraphina Sutton’s throat felt dry. Her intuition told her there had to be a reason Kaden Xavier hadn’t co looking for her recently.

’Could he have found sothing out?’

She grabbed Assistant Lynch’s arm and said softly, "Assistant Lynch, Kaden’s birthday is in a couple of days. I... I want to throw a birthday party for him. Can you help tell him?"

"Alright."

Assistant Lynch skillfully withdrew his arm. Seeing Kaden Xavier erge from the locker room, he walked over, bowed slightly, and said sothing to him.

The next mont, Kaden Xavier’s gaze shifted in her direction.

Seraphina Sutton demurely lowered her head.

When she looked up again, both Kaden Xavier and Assistant Lynch were gone.

「Back at View Gardens.」

It was already evening when Wren Wynter woke up.

She was starving.

Aside from the bowl of porridge Kaden Xavier had made, she hadn’t eaten a thing all day.

She went to the kitchen to find sothing to eat and was surprised to find several sticky notes on the refrigerator. She took one down, and the familiar handwriting on it read: "Wren, your wound hasn’t healed yet, so I threw out all the spicy food. I have to fly for two days. I’ve prepared plenty of nutritious als in the fridge for you. Rember to eat them."

Wren Wynter held the sticky note, stroking it gently, her heart filled with a whirlwind of emotions.

A mont later, she crumpled the note into a ball and threw it into the trash.

She didn’t throw out the nutritious als, though.

「The next morning.」

Wren Wynter went to Moonwater Villa.

As usual, Julian Hawthorne was sitting in the courtyard, basking in the sun.

"Wren, you’re here! Co on in."
