"You’re hurting ."

Shaun Quinn’s grip left Wren Wynter’s wrist bright red.

Against her fair, delicate skin, the mark looked even redder.

Clearly, he was extrely displeased by Isaac Yates’s appearance.

Hearing her, Shaun Quinn imdiately let go, a flash of pain and guilt crossing his face. "I’m sorry."

Wren Wynter shook her head, her red lips parting slightly. "It’s fine."

"Give your hand." As he spoke, Shaun Quinn pulled a tube of ointnt from his expensive suit, opened it, and gently dabbed it on the red area.

"You actually carry this with you!" Wren was surprised.

Shaun Quinn’s eyes flickered, and a rare smile touched his lips. "I wonder who it was that was always falling, getting scraped, and then making a huge fuss about it."

Ever since that incident ten years ago, he had made it a habit to carry ointnt with him, never failing to do so, regardless of the season.

But he wasn’t about to tell Wren Wynter that.

His words left Wren Wynter speechless.

"That was so long ago. How do you still rember my embarrassing monts?"

She was only about ten back then, a little troublemaker who loved climbing trees. But she always got hurt, and despite being terrified of pain, she never seed to learn her lesson.

Shaun Quinn paused in his application of the ointnt. After a long mont of silence, he finally said, "I have a good mory."

’I rember everything about you!’

Wren Wynter was at a loss for words.

Shaun Quinn and Kaden Xavier were indeed the most formidable people she had ever t.

Both possessed a photographic mory.

If they wanted to rember sothing, nothing could stop them.

’So there really is a difference between geniuses and ordinary people.’

"Second Brother."

"Yes?"

"I’ll be going back to Moonwater Villa in a little while. Will you be going back then?"

"Not for now. There are still so matters with the Yates Family that I need to handle."

"All right."

Wren Wynter didn’t press Shaun Quinn about what he had to handle with the Yates Family.

The two stood under the moonlight as a cool night breeze blew toward them, lifting the hem of Wren Wynter’s dress and her hair.

’Second Brother was always the kindest to when we were growing up. He must have been so disappointed and hurt when I left without a word after graduation, right?’

’Why else would he have never contacted ?’

Perhaps sensing Wren Wynter’s gaze, Shaun Quinn stopped what he was doing, put away the ointnt, and looked up to et her eyes.

"What’s wrong?"

"Nothing. Thank you, Brother," Wren Wynter said with a faint smile.

Shaun Quinn said, "Let’s go back."

"Okay."

The two of them turned around, not expecting to see Kaden Xavier.

They stared at each other, at a loss.

The man was staring at them coldly, his face as dark as thunder, radiating a dangerous aura.

Wren Wynter’s eyelashes fluttered.

Before she could speak, Kaden Xavier strode forward and grabbed her wrist—the very one that had just been treated with ointnt—intending to pull her away, but Shaun Quinn caught his arm.

"Let go." Kaden Xavier’s deep voice was laced with ice.

"You let go." Shaun Quinn narrowed his eyes, his presence every bit as imposing as Kaden Xavier’s.

The tension between them was palpable; the air crackled with hostility.

A sharp pain shot through her wrist, making Wren Wynter gasp. "Kaden Xavier, let go! You’re hurting ."

Kaden Xavier snapped back to his senses and instinctively released her. Frowning, he looked down at Wren Wynter’s wrist.

The wrist that had been rely red was now slightly swollen.

Kaden Xavier felt sothing sticky on his palm. He glanced down and realized it was ointnt.

’So, Shaun Quinn was just applying dicine for Wren?’

At this thought, Kaden Xavier’s expression softened slightly, but when he looked up at Shaun Quinn, it darkened again. "What are your intentions toward Wren?"

A man’s intuition told him that Shaun Quinn’s feelings for Wren Wynter went far beyond a simple bond between martial siblings.

"What right do you have to ask? As far as I know, you and Wren are already divorced," Shaun Quinn sneered.

"We haven’t gotten the divorce certificate yet, so we’re not completely divorced!" Kaden Xavier’s eyes darkened, a hint of anger simring within them.

Wren Wynter, afraid that Kaden Xavier’s male possessiveness would make him go back on his word, quickly grabbed Shaun Quinn’s hand and forced a fake smile at Kaden.

"Captain Xavier, I apologize on my brother’s behalf. I hope you can be the bigger person and let this go. There are only two weeks left until we can get the divorce certificate. I hope you’ll show up on ti."

Seeing her defend another man like this, Kaden Xavier’s handso face turned even uglier. His hand, stuck in his pocket, clenched into a tight fist.

’Does she really want to divorce this badly?’

’So much so that she has to remind of the date?’

"Kaden, so this is where you are. I’ve been looking for you forever." Seraphina Sutton walked over just then, naturally and expertly linking her arm with Kaden Xavier’s. "Dr. Wynter, what a coincidence. You’re here too."

"Not a coincidence at all. I wouldn’t want to disturb your little world for two," Wren Wynter quipped.

After speaking, she exchanged a look with Shaun Quinn, and the two of them headed back toward the banquet hall.

Kaden Xavier knew Wren Wynter had misunderstood again. He turned to chase after her, but Seraphina Sutton held his arm in a firm grip.

He shook off Seraphina Sutton’s hand in anger, his gaze sweeping over her coldly. "Seraphina Sutton, what on earth do you want?"

"Kaden, I’m scared to be alone. I don’t have Asher anymore. Are you going to abandon too?"

"I’ve already told you, I have no intention of neglecting you. I’ll have people arrange for all your future living expenses. The shares I promised you are more than enough for you to live on. What more could you want?"

"I want Wren Wynter to die!" Seraphina Sutton suddenly exploded. She pointed at Wren Wynter’s retreating figure and scread with all her might, "Why should the person who killed my child get to live without a care in the world, while I’m plagued by nightmares every night? Why?"

"Wren said she had nothing to do with the child’s death!" Kaden Xavier pinched the bridge of his nose. "I’ll have soone investigate and get you justice. If it really was Wren’s doing, I absolutely won’t condone it. I will atone for her sins and go apologize to the Lynch Family."

Seraphina Sutton stood frozen for a mont, then burst into laughter.

In the end, she had gotten nothing at all.

Instead, she had only made Kaden Xavier realize his true feelings for Wren Wynter.

Seeing her in this crazed state, Kaden Xavier directly called his assistant and told him to send Seraphina Sutton ho.

After the banquet ended, Wren Wynter planned to return to View Gardens. She had just stepped out of the hotel when she ran into Kaden Xavier, who had clearly been waiting for a long ti.

"Wren, let’s talk."

"Kaden Xavier, we have nothing to talk about. If you refuse to finalize the divorce, I’ll sue."

Wren Wynter had already planned for the worst-case scenario.

Until now, she hadn’t wanted to make things ugly with Kaden Xavier. After all, he was a man she once loved.

"I just want to talk to you alone. Why are you so resistant to ?" Kaden Xavier asked with a bitter smile.

Wren Wynter didn’t think there was anything left to talk about.

"Let’s go." Shaun Quinn ca up from behind, stepping between the two of them and turning his head to speak to Wren Wynter.

"Okay." Wren Wynter didn’t spare Kaden Xavier another glance and left with Shaun Quinn.

Kaden Xavier reached out, but only managed to grasp the lingering scent of her perfu in the air.

He gave another bitter smile, a faint, almost imperceptible loneliness hidden in the depths of his eyes.

At this mont, he felt like he could finally understand a little of what Wren Wynter had gone through.

The feeling of a knife twisting in his chest, a throbbing, relentless pain.

...

「The next day.」

Wren Wynter arrived at Old Madam Xavier’s hospital room with her acupuncture kit, only to find Kaden Xavier and Helen Sawyer there.

Her expression was nonchalant as she walked to the bedside and sat down, clearly having no intention of speaking to either of them.

"So rude. Doesn’t even know to greet her elders," Helen Sawyer complained, rolling her eyes, her voice dripping with dissatisfaction.

"What kind of elder are you? Kaden Xavier and I are divorced. To be generous, you’re my forr mother-in-law. To be blunt, we’re strangers. I don’t make a habit of greeting strangers."

"You!" Helen Sawyer was furious. How had she never realized Wren Wynter was so sharp-tongued?

She wanted to say more, but Kaden Xavier stopped her.

"Wren, when will Grandma wake up?"

"I don’t know. If it weren’t for that little stunt from Miracle Doctor Wallace, she might have woken up long ago. Now, it’s hard to say."

"What do you an, ’it’s hard to say’? Are you capable of this or not? If not, I’ll find soone else. If you can’t even cure one person, what’s the use of you?" Helen Sawyer lashed out at Wren Wynter with her usual venom, completely forgetting her own previous actions.
