The next second, Isabel was hoisted in the air by Percy Stanton, who carried her to the car door in a few strides. He held her body with one hand and opened the taxi door with the other.
Fearing that Percy might not be able to hold her steady with one hand, Isabel instinctively spread her arms and tightly wrapped them around Percy’s neck.
Percy’s cold face softened due to this small gesture, and a faint smile appeared at the corner of his lips. He bent down and gently placed Isabel inside the car, then followed in after her.
Isabel reported the address to the taxi driver, and the car fell silent.
She turned her head and gazed at the glass lamp lights outside the window, a wave of lancholy rising in her heart. She had thought that Henry Maxwell once liked her, and that it would be much easier for her to cooperate between the Smith Corporation and Maxwell Group than hiring Percy. Feeling a bit uncomfortable under Percy’s gaze, Isabel simply turned her head and showed him the back of her head.
Finally, Percy slowly looked away.
After a while, Isabel couldn’t resist turning around once more and asked Percy uncertainly, “Have we… t sowhere before?”
At her words, Percy’s eyes lit up. Did she rember?
Percy looked into Isabel’s eyes but said nothing.
“But I don’t have anyone nad Percy Stanton in my mory…” Isabel tilted her head, deep in thought. After a while, she mumbled to herself, “Besides, even if I forgot your na, you’re so handso, I should at least rember you…”
As soon as Isabel stopped talking, Percy’s face and eyes imdiately darkened.
“Rember?” He forced the word out through his nose, each syllable filled with mockery and even so sharpness. “You don’t want to rember!”
Confronted with Percy’s sarcastic tone, Isabel didn’t seem to care. She pursed her lips and remained silent, simply turning her head back to look out the window.
