Chapter 203: Chapter 215: Seeing with Eyes, Pleasure in Heart (8) Chapter 203: Chapter 215: Seeing with Eyes, Pleasure in Heart (8) All the past events in this yard were filled with happiness and joy. But now, when recalling those mories, happiness and joy have turned into heavy sorrow.
For a mont, Isabel herself didn’t know how to answer Mrs. Smith’s question.
Her look gradually turned pale.
Evelyn Osbert had prepared the mango sago dessert on purpose to let Isabel know that once upon a ti in this house, her word was law, but now that is no longer the case. She has forbidden mangoes in the house, but Evelyn insists on using them for dessert. Now Isabel can’t answer Grandma’s question, so Evelyn pretends to carelessly slip the answer!
So Evelyn pursed her lips, smiled, and said softly in what seed like a normal conversation: “Grandma, you might not know, but apparently Sister Isabel didn’t allow mangoes at ho because a certain man didn’t like them, and she seed to like that man a lot..”
At this, Elijah Smith’s face suddenly changed and beca extrely ugly. He knew, despite his young age, that Isabel had soone she liked back then. At that ti, for him, Isabel was an infallible presence, until she went to Starhaven University for that man, which led to the car accident that killed their parents.
Over the years, he has wondered who that man was. If he knew, he would never let him off. There is no doubt that Isabel’s pregnancy must have sothing to do with that man!
“I just wonder, Sister Isabel, are you still in contact with that man?” Evelyn Osbert propped her beautiful chin, her bright eyes twinkling while looking at Isabel and asking.
Elijah Smith banged the porcelain bowl in his hand heavily on the table, stood up, and said, “I’m a bit tired. I’ll go upstairs first.”
He had dreamt about those tragic past events countless tis in the dead of night. Now that they were being brought up again, he genuinely couldn’t bring himself to listen.
Elijah Smith didn’t even bother waiting for anyone else to speak and turned away with an unsightly face and headed upstairs.
Isabel knew that when Evelyn Osbert’s first plan failed, she would not rest until she saw Isabel embarrassed!
Isabel’s hand clenched into a tight fist. She raised her eyes, glared coldly at Evelyn Osbert, and then said in a gentle tone, “Those are old stories from the past. If nobody reminded , I’d have forgotten them!”
Percy Stanton’s bright eyes suddenly turned a bit dark.
He stared closely at Isabel’s side profile, trying to find clues of insincerity on her face.
However, the next second, Isabel picked up the mango sago dessert from the table, slowly took a sip, and said, “When we were young, we did so childish things. Even though I didn’t want to eat mangoes back then, I don’t avoid them now. I just don’t like them as much.”
Was Evelyn trying to expose her scars just to make her suffer and feel pain?
But at this point, Evelyn should know that Isabel has been through the worst and is indestructible.
She’s already experienced the most painful and agonizing monts. What else would she be afraid of?
Isabel spoke and took another spoonful of mango sago. Then she gently placed the delicate porcelain bowl on the table, turned her head to Mrs. Smith, and said, “Grandma, I have sothing to attend to. I will bid you farewell for now and visit you again when I have ti.”
After saying this, Isabel stood up, glanced at Percy Stanton, and said, “Let’s go.”
Percy furrowed his brow, but still stood up. He bade Mrs. Smith goodbye and followed Isabel out of the Smith family ho.
