Yun Ran paid no attention to this highly incongruous scene, not even sparing the newcor a second glance, let alone caring about his fears.
"Noble, please co this way!"
This wasn’t the first ti Yun Ran was referred to as a noble, but it was the first ti being called so by a once adversarial force, which felt quite bizarre.
Ma San at this mont felt like a slave who had turned the tables. He used to just follow behind others, serving as nothing more than a background fixture.
But now it was different, he had pledged allegiance, subconsciously straightening his back, determined not to embarrass his master.
It was just that he didn’t have a broom in hand; otherwise, he would sweep the already clean ground over again before letting his master walk.
The person quickly led Yun Ran to a courtyard that appeared extraordinarily luxurious, and this courtyard was very new.
This newness wasn’t from recent construction, but rather, almost devoid of any lingering human presence.
With one glance, Yun Ran guessed that this yard had likely never been occupied since its completion.
Indeed, the man who brought them started to introduce it: "Noble, this courtyard has been unoccupied since it was built, it’s brand new."
The heavy courtyard gate exuded a faint woody fragrance, the natural scent of the wood itself, not artificially added.
Upon pushing open the gate, the path was paved with white jade, making it feel as if stepping on it would instantly elevate the worth of one’s feet multiple tis over.
There were also flowerbeds on both sides made out of so unknown material, planted with various flora, all listed in famous flower records of later tis.
It’s unknown what thod these ancients used to let so many flowers and plants of different attributes quietly coexist and thrive so well together.
Even at night, with not-so-bright candlelight, the main beam of the yard faintly revealed flowing liquid gold...
Just from this simple glimpse, it was apparent that the construction cost of this courtyard was no small affair.
Even soone like Yun Ran, accustod to witnessing postmodern luxury, couldn’t help but exclaim: who said ancient technology was underdeveloped, ignorant of enjoynt and luxury? Chinese luxury is beyond imagination.
Ma San’s eyes were straightened at this mont, though he was trying hard to restrain himself.
Yet he couldn’t help but be shocked by everything before him, simultaneously realizing that the people of this base likely hadn’t held back any of their wealth.
"Noble, this is the best courtyard we have here, only soone like you can reside in it."
There wasn’t anyone more esteed than Lord Divine Envoy, and those more noble wouldn’t appear here at all.
So, complinting Yun Ran in this manner wasn’t wrong now.
Just as Yun Ran settled into the main hall’s seat, steady footsteps began to resound from outside, accompanied by the sounds of breathing.
Soon, Yun Ran saw the owners of these sounds: a dozen people, each carrying a tray.
On them lay the best food of this era.
However, perhaps lacking the pinnacle of culinary technology, the taste of these top ingredients might just be ordinary.
"Noble, please enjoy."
Looking at the table full of dishes, Yun Ran was rather satisfied, casually reaching into her bag to take out a porcelain bottle containing Solid Essence Pills.
"A reward for you all, take it and share it evenly."
Ma San, having experienced the efficacy of Yun Ran’s dications, felt a twinge of envy; these were treasures indeed. He truly envied these people.
Others, although largely guessing that whatever the noble offered would be of high value, didn’t overly covet them.
More than these items, they revered Yun Ran, the Divine Envoy. Even if he had given them just a blade of grass, they would be profoundly grateful.
Soon, these people withdrew in an orderly fashion.
After eating and drinking his fill, Yun Ran planned to rest well. At least for now, she could relax her mind.
Ma San and i Zhang soon retreated as well, leaving Yun Ran alone in the courtyard.
This was at Yun Ran’s insistence; she didn’t need anyone apart from the little paperman to stand guard for her through the night.
Lying in bed, Yun Ran soon slipped into slumber, her breathing evening out, while the Nine-headed Ferocious Beast, which had vanished into smoke, reassembled.
Lounging on the soft carpet, it couldn’t help but marvel at how humans truly knew how to enjoy life.
Even at the peak of their clan’s power and prosperity, they never indulged in such luxuries.
Drowsiness is contagious; listening to Yun Ran’s steady breathing, the heads of the Nine-headed Ferocious Beast felt their initial awe slowly transforming bit by bit.
Suddenly, the beast was startled, all nine heads turning in unison towards the doorway, where a dark silhouette was elongated by the moonlight outside.
Being a fierce beast, if it were a timid human witnessing this spectacle, they’d be scared out of their wits!
The Nine-headed Ferocious Beast rotated one of its heads, intending to alert Yun Ran of the intruder.
The fact that soone could appear here silently and only be detected by it indicated their formidable skill.
However, just as one of its heads turned, it saw Yun Ran already awake, sitting up, her eyes fixed intently on the window outside.
This sight left the Nine-headed Ferocious Beast feeling sowhat defeated—was Qingfeng Temple’s young disciple actually so vigilant, leaving it with no sense of accomplishnt!
Simultaneously, astonishnt quickly filled the eyes of its remaining eight heads.
The room had been set with a defensive array when Yun Ran moved in, only penetrable by those stronger than her, or those she considered allies.
The shadow elongated by moonlight outside gently pushed the room’s door, which opened as if it were a re decoration.
The Nine-headed Ferocious Beast suddenly felt that even with nine heads, it seed not enough, because it couldn’t comprehend the current situation.
Fortunately, Yun Ran wasn’t timid, for when the shadow opened the door, she spoke: "To barge in like this—isn’t that a bit impolite, sir?"
The shadow hadn’t expected the room’s occupant to awaken and spot him so quickly, his hand hesitated montarily.
Then the shadow retreated a few steps, even the Nine-headed Ferocious Beast sensed that the shadow seed sowhat receptive to reason.
With a wave of Yun Ran’s hand, the room, previously dim with only a few slivers of moonlight slipping in through the window, abruptly lit up brightly.
