Smoke swirled around the two of them.

The rising smoke was like a mist that obscured everything.

Song Xuyao didn’t care about the punch; he dealt with criminals every day, and fighting was routine.

However, being hit by his own people was still a rare occurrence.

But he also knew Bai Ye’s pain. Anyone who has been a police officer understands that suffering, especially those who have been undercover, know it’s like living in hell.

So, Song Xuyao didn’t fight back!

A cigarette was finished.

Song Xuyao glanced at Bai Ye. He was surprisingly shocked when he learned Bai Ye was an undercover agent. Like everyone else, he thought Bai Ye was already dead!

But everyone carrying a secret is destined to be soone with too many stories inside.

Song Xuyao knew about Qiao Xiaoyan’s feelings for Bai Ye. He could understand Qiao Xiaoyan, and because he understood, he knew what a stormy upheaval this would be.

However, there were also work-related issues entangled between them.

Work and love were all intertwined.

The work involved living on the edge.

Love was a matter of life and death, heartbreak.

Each one was a real test of the human heart.

Song Xuyao didn’t urge Bai Ye to say anything, but Bai Ye spoke first.

"This organization has about a hundred people. They hold organized gatherings, and the leader is said to be a woman, but I never had the chance to et her," Bai Ye said.

Song Xuyao nodded: "What is their ultimate goal?"

"It’s still unknown at the mont." Bai Ye lit another cigarette, "The people who take the Zombie Drug all have certain backgrounds, that’s for sure. I know one of them was wrongfully imprisoned by the police!"

Song Xuyao’s brows furrowed, "Such a person must hate the police greatly. You must be careful!"

Bai Ye just took a deep drag on his cigarette and said nothing.

"You should leave first! I’ll sit a bit longer," Song Xuyao said.

Bai Ye stood up to leave. Song Xuyao watched his silhouette disappear, feeling a mix of emotions.

As a brother in the sa profession, he naturally hoped all his brothers were alive.

Song Xuyao lay on a large rock. When he cycled back, he saw Qiao Xiaoyan getting off work.

"Leaving so early?" Song Xuyao looked at his watch; it was only four-thirty.

Qiao Xiaoyan gave him a look. There was still a trace of blood at the corner of his mouth; she didn’t know how it got there. Even if she wanted to care for him, he no longer needed it, right?

So, she directly ignored it, then picked up her car keys, "I’m going to pick Xiao Wan up from school."

Song Xuyao nodded, "Thank you for your hard work lately!"

Qiao Xiaoyan was a bit surprised he would say sothing like that, but he had already turned and walked inside.

Qiao Xiaoyan went to pick Xiao Wan up from school. At first, Xiao Wan was still not used to crowded places, especially where there were n.

Qiao Xiaoyan knew she had suffered significant trauma, so after school, she would take her directly ho and find a psychologist to treat her. Being a forensic doctor herself, psychology was not her specialty.

Upon hearing about seeing a psychologist, Lu Xiao thought of her brother and wondered where Lu Mojing was and what he was doing.

While Xiao Wan was receiving treatnt, Qiao Xiaoyan went outside to buy a coffee and enjoy it.

The sumr afternoon sun was scorching.

Recently, she was busy with Xiao Wan. Xiao Wan was unfortunate, but she would help her get better gradually.

Qiao Xiaoyan sat in the café, looking at the world outside through the glass window.

She sipped her coffee slowly, flipping through the newspaper and casually browsing the news.

When she saw it was almost ti, she left the café. It had been a long ti since she had such a peaceful life.

As she walked out, she bought dog food. She and Bai Ye had once saved an injured dog, which she nad Bai.

But everything, everything, could no longer return.

Only that dog nad Bai still stayed by her side.

As Qiao Xiaoyan ca out with the dog food, she accidentally saw a figure ahead. The back seed so familiar...

She shook her head. Honestly, how many people in this world have similar backs!

Maybe when buying dog food, she subconsciously thought of Bai Ye.

Qiao Xiaoyan took Xiao Wan ho. After Xiao Wan finished her howork, she bathed the dog and blow-dried its fur with a hairdryer.

"Co on, Bai, look what I bought for you to eat?" Qiao Xiaoyan took out the dog food, filled the dog’s bowl, and watching the dog eat so happily, she felt better too.

If Bai Ye knew the dog had recovered from its injuries and was growing more handso, would he also be happy?

Qiao Xiaoyan gently patted its head, sat on the floor, and watched it finish eating.

After the dog was full, it ca to cuddle with her, pounced on her, and played gas with her.

Soon, it wanted to go out to play.

Qiao Xiaoyan walked into Xiaowan’s bedroom. "Stay ho and do your howork well; I’ll take the dog for a walk. If there’s anything, call , okay?"

Xiaowan nodded his head.

Qiao Xiaoyan took the dog out of the neighborhood to stroll around the park.

It was just past eight o’clock in the evening.

It was the ti when citizens had finished their dinner and co out to dance in the square. So elderly people went out for a walk, while children ca out to play gas.

The dog broke free from Qiao Xiaoyan’s hand and ran to play in the woods.

Qiao Xiaoyan called out, "Da Bai..."

Usually, she would bring him down to play as long as he didn’t run out of her sight, it was fine.

But today, as soon as Da Bai ca down, he ran out of sight.

Qiao Xiaoyan was very anxious. "Da Bai... Da Bai..."

She called out tirelessly, but she couldn’t see any sign of the dog.

Qiao Xiaoyan hurried to search, calling the dog’s na while looking around the park, but found nothing. She even ran out of the park, asking people passing by if they had seen her dog.

However, she continued searching until ten at night, but still didn’t see a trace of Da Bai.

Qiao Xiaoyan sat at the park entrance feeling extrely sad. Was she going to lose every piece of Bai Ye’s belongings before she could forget him?

Actually, she had already decided to live well!

Why did Da Bai disappear at this ti?

Song Xuyao drove past the park and saw a familiar figure with red eyes. He stopped the car and walked over to her. "Xiaoyan, what’s wrong?"

Qiao Xiaoyan raised her head and saw it was him. She hesitated to speak.

"What happened?" Song Xuyao was worried. "Is sothing wrong with Xiaowan?"

"No..." Qiao Xiaoyan shook her head hurriedly. "Xiaowan is at ho doing his howork; it’s my dog that’s missing..."

Song Xuyao raised an eyebrow. "The big white dog?"

"Yes," Qiao Xiaoyan said. "It’s the dog Bai Ye and I rescued in a small town in city G. I just took him to the park to play, and he disappeared after a while."

Song Xuyao stared at her red eyes. "You should go ho first! I’ll look for him for you!"

Qiao Xiaoyan bit her lip. "I want to find him before going back!"

"But are you comfortable with Xiaowan being ho alone?" Song Xuyao sighed lightly.

"You’re right!" Qiao Xiaoyan nodded. "I’ll go back to take care of Xiaowan. Song Sir, please be sure to find him, okay?"

She was practically pleading by this point.

Having been with him for so long, she rarely used such a pleading tone. This ti, for Bai Ye’s dog, she actually begged him.

Song Xuyao’s handso face turned cold, and he said nothing.

Qiao Xiaoyan thought he disagreed, so she said, "Then you go to my house and look after Xiaowan; I’ll go and search!"

"Why run around so late on your own?" Song Xuyao’s tone carried so displeasure. "Besides, Xiaowan is afraid of n. What can I do?"

"She’s received treatnt from a psychologist and improved a lot." Qiao Xiaoyan said, "I believe she’ll get better after a while."

Song Xuyao looked at her, saying nothing. Xiaowan had suffered trauma that would heal bit by bit. But Xiaoyan, what about you?

"You’ve worked hard! I’ll go!" Song Xuyao said. "Send a picture of the dog to my phone! You go ho first; I’ll call you when I find him!"

Qiao Xiaoyan nodded. "Then I’m leaving!"

After Qiao Xiaoyan returned, Song Xuyao drove away, not knowing where to start searching for the dog!

However, if she valued the dog she and Bai Ye once raised so much, what would she do if she knew Bai Ye wasn’t dead?

Song Xuyao couldn’t imagine such a consequence. Though Bai Ye’s identity was confidential now, one day he would stand before her!

Song Xuyao’s mood was restless. He lit a cigarette, searching everywhere in the streets.

As a major cri detective, he found himself searching for a dog in the middle of the night.

And this dog was the one Qiao Xiaoyan and Bai Ye raised together before.

Song Xuyao found it amusing. He wondered what was happening. It all seed like a dream.

He was never afraid of dying! For many people, being a police officer is a nerve-wracking job, dealing with criminals daily, life precariously balanced.

Yet, he wasn’t afraid!

He used to think of being lonely all his life, or that one day, at a certain mont, he could be released.

But life, ultimately, is life, inseparable from daily essentials, inseparable from emotions.

Song Xuyao searched all night but saw no sign of the dog.

The next morning, as he arrived at work, he saw Qiao Xiaoyan at the door. "I will continue to search."

Qiao Xiaoyan’s dark circles were pronounced, and she nodded, "Thank you. Did you stay up all night?"

Song Xuyao was drinking a strong coffee; he hadn’t slept, and there were other things to do during the day.
