Chu Feng knew that Dragon Soul was certain to be aware of the incident, and he said candidly, "I ordered the destruction. If we hadn’t demolished it, it could have threatened many more lives."
Huang Lan said, "But do you not realize that what was inside that tomb was of imnse value to us?"
Chu Feng’s voice turned frosty as he replied, "I’m not aware of anything that is more valuable than human lives. I was the only one who witnessed the contents of the tomb, and I know its strength best. If it had gotten out, it would have caused trendous harm to society. You don’t want to see East River turn into a city of death, do you?"
This was no exaggeration from Chu Feng. If it hadn’t been for his Divine Sense, he might not have known how to deal with that zombie.
And if a zombie of at least Profound Level strength were to escape and spread through human contact, it wasn’t impossible for East River to beco a dead city.
Hearing Chu Feng’s anger, Huang Lan’s tone softened sowhat and said, "I understand the seriousness of this matter, but by doing this, you’ve displeased the higher-ups quite a bit."
Chu Feng said, "I only do what I think is right. Whether the higher-ups are pleased is not my concern."
After saying that, Chu Feng coldly hung up the phone.
This ti Huang Lan didn’t fly off the handle but rather seed sowhat worried. Chu Feng’s act of issuing the order without permission had indeed caused so displeasure among the higher-ups.
Although Huang Lan believed that what Chu Feng did was right, Dragon Soul was not solely ruled by her decision.
"It looks like I’ll have to call Tributor Zhang." Huang Lan sighed and then dialed Zhang Shisan’s phone.
She was the team leader, but when it ca to the older generation above her, her words didn’t carry much weight. It would be much better with Zhang Shisan stepping in.
Chu Feng tossed the phone aside, feeling annoyed.
Chu Feng indeed intended to keep the secrets beneath hidden, but he also did it to save people.
Qi Cultivators were just too fantastical. Chu Feng didn’t know if there were secrets beneath unknown to him. Or perhaps this Qi Cultivator had a contingency for those consud by greed. Blowing it up was the best solution Chu Feng could think of. But the call from Huang Lan irked him.
Ring, ring!
Before Chu Feng could toss his phone aside, it began to ring again.
Chu Feng snapped impatiently, "Are you calling just to hang up on ? Go ahead then, I’m about to take a bath after you do."
"You’re taking a bath? Then it seems my call is ill-tid," Zhuang Xinyan’s voice ca through the phone.
Chu Feng paused at hearing Zhuang Xinyan and then said with so embarrassnt, "Do you need sothing?"
Zhuang Xinyan said, "I do. But I’m more curious about who could make you throw a tantrum like a child."
Chu Feng retorted in frustration, "Who’s throwing a tantrum like a child?"
Zhuang Xinyan said, "You! Just picture yourself sitting naked in the bathtub, angrily slapping the water—don’t you look like a child who doesn’t want to bathe?"
"You..."
Chu Feng thought about it and found himself at a loss for words because what Zhuang Xinyan said did sound rather accurate.
"You’re a goddess. Don’t you think it’s beneath you to discuss a man taking a bath?" Chu Feng changed the topic.
Zhuang Xinyan replied, "I’m rely stating a fact. Plus, don’t you think it’s shaless to tell a goddess that you’re bathing naked?"
"..."
Chu Feng was speechless, but upon reflection, he did feel a bit shaless.
Zhuang Xinyan didn’t care about Chu Feng’s silence on the other end of the phone and calmly stated, "You don’t need to apologize for your shalessness because I’ve heard from Rongrong about even more shaless things you’ve done. Like the ti you went to the movies..."
Chu Feng felt a twinge of anxiety when he heard Zhuang Xinyan’s words.
Zhuang Xinyan continued, "Rongrong told , she said you took her to the wrong theater. She said as soon as you realized the mistake, you left imdiately, but I don’t believe it. With your level of shalessness, it must have been preditated. There’s no way it was an accident."
Hearing that An Rongrong hadn’t told Zhuang Xinyan the whole truth, Chu Feng breathed a sigh of relief and quickly changed the subject, "What do you want? If it’s nothing, then the shaless man you’re talking about is really going to start his bath."
Zhuang Xinyan said, "You’re even more shaless than I imagined."
"..."
Zhuang Xinyan seed not to care at all about the psychological trauma her words might leave on Chu Feng as she continued, "Jin Yu asked to tell you that he wants to invite you to dinner tomorrow. He wants to express his gratitude for saving his life."
Upon hearing Zhuang Xinyan’s words, Chu Feng was taken aback and then said, "Are you sure these are Jin Yu’s words?"
Zhuang Xinyan replied, "I made a recording of the phone call. I can send it to you if you want to hear it."
Chu Feng asked, "Then are you sure Jin Yu wasn’t drunk?"
Zhuang Xinyan asserted, "I’m sure of it."
Chu Feng asked, "Then are you sure there’s no conspiracy or trick, like setting up a trap at the dinner or sothing?"
Zhuang Xinyan answered, "I’m certain it’s not a trap, but whether there are other sches, that’s between you and him."
Chu Feng said, "Alright. I got it."
Zhuang Xinyan inquired, "So are you going or not?"
Chu Feng responded, "I’ll go. Why wouldn’t I? If soone’s treating to a al, why should I refuse? Besides, with his status as the future helmsman of the Jin Family, would the things he offers to express his gratitude be petty?"
Zhuang Xinyan pondered for a mont and said, "I sll a scheming fragrance, and it seems to that soone is about to lose both their wife and their soldiers."
Chu Feng replied earnestly, "I already have Rongrong, I don’t want his wife; I just plan to make him bleed a little."
Zhuang Xinyan giggled and said, "You’re even more shaless than what I had just imagined."
"You..."
Before Chu Feng could finish, the call was disconnected.
Listening to the busy tone on the other end, Chu Feng felt an urge to go crazy.
He had been repeatedly called shaless by Zhuang Xinyan without the ability to refute, and just as he was about to vent by hanging up the phone, Zhuang Xinyan beat him to it. This deprived Chu Feng of even the last chance to blow off steam.
Chu Feng fud alone in the bathtub for a while and suddenly thought: At least Huang Lan is a bit better. She would let hang up first and then I could watch her fly into a rage.
Chu Feng paused for a mont and then thought: Was I too harsh on her just now? Should I call and apologize, and then hang up on her?
Such a petty thought could only co from Chu Feng. A normal person couldn’t even imagine it.
As soon as Chu Feng thought of it, he acted on it and called Huang Lan back.
"It’s ," said Chu Feng.
"I know." Huang Lan responded coolly from the other end of the line.
Chu Feng continued, "I’m calling to apologize."
Huang Lan said, "I know."
Her attitude caught Chu Feng off guard, "Don’t you think you should say sothing?"
"What should I say?" Huang Lan asked.
"..."
Chu Feng fell silent, and Huang Lan also said, "Never mind, I’ll hang up!"
Right after, Huang Lan hung up the phone without giving Chu Feng a chance.
Having been hung up on by two won in one day, Chu Feng suddenly felt utterly defeated.
"Jin Yu, you’re just unlucky. You’d better not provoke tomorrow at dinner." Chu Feng could only redirect his focus to the more bullyable Jin Yu.
