Yu Tian watched as the two fighters charged toward each other.

He thought to himself that this was the perfect mont to make their move. Now that Xueling appeared weakened, the sect master was growing overconfident and beginning to let his guard down.

"~Now," Yu Tian’s voice cut through Xueling’s mind as she was about to clash with the sect master.

Just as the two were about to et with their full-power strikes, sothing suddenly changed. The sword Xueling was holding burst with light.

"What?" The sect master was caught off guard, wondering what was happening. Just seconds ago, she had been out of breath - where could she have gotten that much qi?

His expression hardened as he concentrated on his sword. No, this was just her last desperate effort. Even if she suddenly recovered to full power, there was no way she could defeat him.

As he thought this, he suddenly sensed sothing else. From her glowing sword ca a wave of energy that pressed down on him, forcing his own energy to retreat.

"What the hell is this?" he wondered, watching the energy covering his sword begin to flicker.

"~This is your chance. Do it now," Yu Tian commanded.

Xueling didn’t waste a mont. She increased her speed and sliced through Sect Master Su Qing before he could even make sense of what was happening. He still wore a bewildered expression as his head slowly slid from his body, falling to the ground before his body followed suit.

After that final strike, Xueling also seed to reach her limit. The qi on her sword flickered a few tis before finally disappearing. She lost consciousness, her hair returning to its natural black color as her form began losing altitude.

Just as she was about to hit the ground, Yu Tian appeared and caught her. He looked at her and smiled. They had succeeded.

Before they left the secret tomb, Yu Tian had decided to draw a rune on her sword. Although there were so interesting runes that would work well with Xueling’s fighting style - like the one that produced ice - Yu Tian had decided to go another route.

He rembered the formation that Su Jiang had used on Xueling before. Since he had dismantled the formation, he knew exactly how it worked. The hard part was translating it into a rune. Usually, it would have been impossible, but with his calculation ability, he was able to modify the blueprint just enough that it could be used like a rune.

The way it worked was using qi to give off an aura of suppression within a few ters, the effects weakening with distance.

Since it was quick work, it was also a little unstable - an extrely powerful opponent could overco the aura of suppression. So they needed perfect timing when the person had let their guard down and they were extrely close.

He exhaled. It seed everything worked out well in the end.

He looked around him. This area was not safe - people must have heard the fight going on here.

Although most people liked to stay away from such things, there were others who liked to benefit from other people’s troubles. Now that the battle was over, so hungry wolves might co to see if they could benefit from the aftermath.

He placed Xueling on his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. Then he walked over to the sect master and cupped his fists to show respect before digging into his abdon, retrieving his core.

"You worked hard trying to complete this. I’ll have to take it so it doesn’t rot with you," he said.

Since Su Qing’s core had been refined with the cores of many Core Formation experts and beasts, it could be said that it was quite strong. From his calculation, the sect master was just a step away from forming the absolute core he wanted so much. Yu Tian decided to take it for himself and study it.

With his Path to Heaven thod, he should be able to absorb all the benefits and complete it.

He then picked up the spatial ring and flew away using a flying sword.

...

Xueling slowly opened her eyes. She was in an unfamiliar place.

She looked around, recollecting her thoughts. She rembered her battle with the sect master, but she couldn’t rember much after that. Had she lost?

She moved her hand, reaching for her sword. Nothing.

Her eyes widened and she instantly sat up. It was then that she was finally able to take in her surroundings. She was in a tent - the tent she had brought.

As she thought of this, soone ca in.

"You’re finally awake," Yu Tian said with a smile.

"Yu Tian..." she called out in joy.

"Yeah, it’s ," he responded, handing sothing to her.

She took it. It was so sort of green liquid.

"What’s this?" she asked.

"It’s dicine. Drink it," Yu Tian said.

She gulped it all down without question, then looked at herself. She was wrapped in bandages.

"I don’t feel all that better," she said.

"Of course you don’t. I can’t find any useful herbs here, so I made this potion with the mortal herbs in this area," he explained. "It should help ease your pain. Now that you’ve woken up, you can gather energy and slowly heal yourself," he added.

"Oh, and here is your sword. I fixed the rune - it should be much more reliable now," he said, handing her the weapon.

She held it in her hands, finally feeling much more at ease.

"Just how long have I been out for?" she asked.

"Not that long. Just two days," he said.

"Two days?" She quickly got up. She hadn’t expected to be down for so long.

"What’s wrong?" Yu Tian asked, seeing her nervous expression.

"Now that the sect master has died, other sects might try to take over our sect," Xueling said.

"Calm down. How would they know that he died?" he asked.

"We didn’t clear the scene. If soone ca..." she began, and Yu Tian understood.

He had been careless. If soone ca to the scene, they would probably recognize the sect master and information would spread fast.

He sighed. "Well, don’t worry about it. Even if they do, we can just snatch it from them. Could they be stronger than the sect master?"
