On a certain holiday, I had called Ryuuen out to the dormitory lounge. The mont he arrived, he made a displeased face, but since I had expected that, I didn't say anything.
"You called out. If this is so stupid shit, I'm gonna knock your teeth in."
Ryuuen spat out those words with genuine irritation. If I didn't get to the point soon, he'd probably try to punch , so I decided to cut to the chase.
"It's not just 'sothing.' I called you because I have a favor to ask."
"Hah?"
I reached into my bag and pulled out a pair of glasses I had hidden, offering them to him. Ryuuen narrowed his eyes even more suspiciously.
"What the hell is this? Just so glasses, right?"
"They're not just any glasses. Just trust and put them on... yeah, try looking at that couple walking over there."
"...The hell?"
Still wary, he took the glasses, glared at once, and then put them on. He then shifted his gaze to a random couple walking by. That said, Ryuuen wearing glasses was just bizarre.
"...Trust? Friendship? What the hell are these categories and numbers? Hey, what's the aning of this?"
"These are—"
A sharp glare shot my way along with his confused voice. What I had given Ryuuen were the "Glasses That Let You See Affection Levels." The sa ones I had purchased before—an item that displayed nurical values representing how much affection soone held for another person.
After hearing the explanation about the glasses, Ryuuen stared at them for a mont before tossing them back at . I barely managed to catch them, but Ryuuen had already turned his back.
"If you wanna show off so weird shit, do it sowhere else. I don't give a damn whether I can see affection levels or not."
With those final dismissive words, Ryuuen started walking away. But letting him leave now would defeat the purpose. To stop him, I muttered a single line toward his back.
"Don't you wanna know Hikigaya's affection levels?"
That usage seed to have caught Ryuuen off guard, as his footsteps ca to an abrupt halt. Slowly, he turned around, his lips twisting into a vicious smirk—a face that scread "villain" to anyone who saw it.
"I'll take that as your approval, then?"
"Keh, fine, I'll play along. That bastard's love life sounds like it'll be a good laugh."
Ryuuen seed eager to dig up so dirt on Hikigaya's relationships with girls.
...Laugh all you want, but whether you'll still be laughing by the end of the day is another story. I swallowed the words that had almost slipped out.

With the unlikely pairing of and Ryuuen, we infiltrated Keyaki Mall. Our target, of course, was Hikigaya. Tracking his location via phone, we soon spotted him.

They seed to have just exited a café, the two of them appearing from the entrance. From this distance, I could faintly hear their conversation.
"Thank you for today. I had a aningful ti."
"It wasn't anything worth thanking for. I'm just glad I got to learn more about your brother."
"Still, to think that suspicious person was my brother... I never would've guessed."
"Well, it's because of that topic that we got the chance to talk like this. I'd say I was lucky."
"It's not like... I wouldn't have invited you even without my brother's involvent."
"Looking forward to it, then."
Co to think of it, Horikita had been in an oddly good mood yesterday. I'd heard rumors that Hikigaya had spent ti with Horikita Manabu during the cultural festival, so maybe she had approached him to hear about that.
"Damn, Suzune's got a full-blown 'girl in love' face. She's already fallen for him."
"That's exactly what the affection glasses are for. Let's take a look."

"Interesting. I wonder what'd happen if we told Suzune about these glasses."
I warned Ryuuen to drop that disgusting idea. If I didn't, he'd definitely go through with it.
"Hikigaya's moving. Let's follow him."

After parting with Horikita, Hikigaya started moving, so Ryuuen and I tailed him. If it were just , it'd be fine, but with Ryuuen along, it was harder to stay hidden. So, we blended in with the crowd to avoid suspicion.
Then, Hikigaya approached a girl.
"Yamamura, what a coincidence."
"Ah... Hikigaya-kun. Hello."
"Shopping?"
"Yes. I was just looking at so tableware."
It was rare for Hikigaya to initiate a talk, but the girl turned out to be Yamamura. I heard they got closer during the school trip. Co to think of it, Hikigaya had once said, "For so reason, I get along with Yamamura."
"That's Yamamura. Tokitou's nearby too."
Tokitou seed like he was about to call out to her, but upon seeing Hikigaya talking to Yamamura, he chose to hold back, probably not wanting to interrupt.
"Hey, wasn't he trying to hit on Yamamura during the school trip? Let's see how much he's made her fall for him in such a short ti."

As we were having that conversation, Hikigaya started moving again. I was about to follow, but Ryuuen, who had been fiddling with his phone, didn't budge.

Without looking up from his phone, Ryuuen smirked.
"Watching every single person that bastard runs into is a waste of ti. It's faster to just summon all the girls at once."
Among those girls were probably Shiina, Sakayanagi, and Matsushita.
"Summon them? How?"
"With the collection of photos I've been saving of Hikigaya with girls. If I send them with location info, they'll co running."
As soon as he finished speaking, he must have sent them, because Ryuuen put his phone away with a nasty grin.

Ryuuen, now sweating bullets, stared at Amasawa and Yagami like he was looking at sothing horrifying. I was probably making the sa face.
"This is insane... This isn't even about 'liking' soone anymore..."
Relax, Ryuuen. I'd been through the sa thing before.
Last ti, I checked the affection levels and ended up ntally scarred. But I couldn't help but wonder about Hikigaya's surroundings after advancing to the second year. Of course, I couldn't do it alone, so I needed a sacrificial lamb to drag down with .
"Glad you're here, Ryuuen. My sacrificial offering."
Thanks to him, I managed to endure. Having comrades is a wonderful thing.
"And, you haven't forgotten, right, Ryuuen?"

"What the hell? I haven't done anything..."

To demonstrate, I put on the glasses I had. Ryuuen watched with suspicion but eventually, very reluctantly, put his on as well.
Then, in front of us, I spotted a familiar back I'd seen countless tis yesterday.
"Hm? Is that Hikigaya?"
"What...!?"
"Relax. He's not with a girl. He's with Nagumo-senpai."
Ryuuen, who had been about to tear off the glasses in panic, froze in relief. He was clearly traumatized.
When Ryuuen and I both looked forward, Hikigaya and Nagumo ca into view simultaneously. Well, it's Nagumo. The student council president who's always antagonizing him shouldn't be a problem.
But just as we let our guard down, the numbers that appeared in our vision made our eyes widen in shock.

Ryuuen trailed off, likely recalling the numbers we'd just seen.
"..."
"..."
We both pulled out our phones and called our horoom teacher, Chabashira.
"Chabashira-sensei. I'm skipping school today. I'm too dizzy to function."
"Hey, Sakagami. I'm taking the day off. Make up whatever excuse you want."
I decided to go back to sleep until nightfall.

This is technically a follow-up to the previous side story, Ayanokouji's Proposal 2.
I considered labeling it as a side story, but since it could also be considered a casual, everyday episode, I decided against it.
That said, it's not really connected to the main story... Well, think of it as sothing between a side story and the main plot.
The idea for these "affection-seeing glasses" has been in my mind for a while now. To those who comnted and brainstord ideas for this concept, I'm truly grateful. Sorry I couldn't use them.
I already had a draft written, and revising the content wasn't feasible. But your comnts really made my day.
The next side story, Ayanokouji's Proposal, will co another ti.
