"Chi Yu." Elder Wen asked in puzzlent, "Have you and Qiao Rui ford a united front against the world?"
"Elder Wen is our senior, not an outsider. We can’t say we’re united against anyone; it’s about matters of the heart, and I respect others’ wishes," Chi Yu replied with a smile.
"You say that as if you’re talking about ," Elder Wen responded bluntly, "as if you’re suggesting I haven’t respected Qiao Rui’s personal wishes."
"Grandfather, Brother Chi doesn’t an that," Qiao Rui quickly defended. "I think Brother Chi ans that he and I feel being friends is wonderful, like old friends at first sight."
"Indeed, Elder Wen, your arrangents are certainly for Little Sister Wen’s good, but they may not necessarily be the best for her," Chi Yu stated frankly.
Elder Wen’s gaze slowly drifted over their faces with a complicated expression, making them anxious.
After a long pause, he said, "You indeed are kindred spirits; it’s a rare fate indeed. Since you’ve made your choices, it would be difficult for to force anything further. And you, Chi Yu, with such exceptional talents, are surely not soone who would easily accept others’ manipulations."
"Elder Wen, I am deeply touched by your affection for !" Chi Yu smiled, "Let also express my stance."
As he spoke, everyone turned to look at Chi Yu.
Chi Yu seriously declared, "Little Sister Wen and I are destined to et. For her sake, whenever needed, no matter the obstacles, as long as she asks, I’ll be there."
Elder Wen was taken aback, well aware of Chi Yu’s pride.
Chi Yu had always remained distant from aristocratic ladies, seemingly gentle yet extrely aloof.
That such a promise would be made so effortlessly was surprising.
It left Elder Wen shocked as he looked between Qiao Rui and Chi Yu, remaining silent for so ti.
Qiao Rui also felt a sudden tension, instinctively glancing at Chi Yu.
She hadn’t expected Chi Yu to say sothing like that, promising to be there with just a word.
Even very close friends might not make such a vow.
Especially when they had only just t today, with no prior acquaintance.
Why was he doing this?
Qiao Rui was extrely surprised, staring blankly at Chi Yu and blurting out, "Brother Chi, you don’t have to go that far."
Chi Yu smiled slightly, blinking his eyes, and said, "I’ve been moved by Little Sister Wen. You value loyalty deeply, so my promise won’t go in vain."
Qiao Rui was sowhat puzzled by Chi Yu’s aning, glancing at Elder Wen, assuming that relations between Chi Family and Elder Wen explained Chi Yu’s lack of hesitation in giving such a promise.
However, as she looked at Elder Wen, she found the sa slight surprise on his face, leaving her bewildered, realizing it wasn’t due to him.
So why was Chi Yu behaving this way?
Even Butler Xie was amazed, looking at Chi Yu, he said, "Mr. Chi, this promise to our Young Master is heavy indeed!"
"No need for formalities," Chi Yu replied, "Little Sister Wen is worth it."
But what made it worth it?
Qiao Rui couldn’t fathom why.
Elder Wen said, "Qiao Rui, aren’t you going to thank Brother Chi quickly."
"Oh, thank you, Brother Chi!" Qiao Rui quickly expressed her gratitude, feeling relieved and touched. Her grandfather’s suggestion to call Chi Yu like this seed a sign of letting go of the Wen Family and Chi Family’s alliance.
It looked like her efforts weren’t in vain.
The most important thing was that Chi Yu was incredibly supportive.
"No need to be formal," Chi Yu looked at Qiao Rui with a deep, aningful smile.
Qiao Rui glanced at him, feeling a sense of closeness, and smiled as well.
After dinner, Qiao Rui and Elder Wen walked in the Rose Garden, just the two of them.
Qiao Rui was very obedient, staying by Elder’s side without saying a word.
She wondered if Pei Liyan would start doubting anything if he couldn’t find her today.
Her phone was off now, so Pei Liyan surely couldn’t reach her.
With his temperant, if he couldn’t contact her, he would definitely turn to Gai Yin.
In such silence, no words exchanged, they were truly just strolling.
Elder Wen glanced at her and said, "Eager to return, aren’t you?"
"Eh?" Qiao Rui was taken aback. "Grandfather, please don’t tease ."
Elder Wen snorted coldly, his tone particularly acidic, "Don’t return tonight, stay at this West Suburb Rose Garden."
Qiao Rui was taken aback, but didn’t object, nodding her head, "Alright, I won’t return."
Seeing her respond so straightforwardly, Elder Wen was instantly miffed.
He said, "Lately, your skills have grown, stirring up Qingcheng and causing trouble for the Lin Family like this. And your uncles from Qiao Family are preparing to act, aren’t they?"
Qiao Rui nodded, "Nothing can escape your eyes, Grandfather."
"Indeed. You’re also causing unrest in Liancheng for both Shen Family and Song Family. Girl, is making enemies like this really wise?"
"Grandfather, didn’t you say that? To deal a snake a critical blow, one must strike its vital point, leaving no room for counterattack, giving them no chance to retaliate?"
"Your mory is very clear," Elder Wen paused to look at Qiao Rui, "and yet, you showed rcy to Lin Family, letting Lin Shiyue’s family go."
"Grandfather." Qiao Rui paused, pondering how to speak, hesitated for a mont, and then said, "Lin Shiyue is different from them, and Lin Ci has shown himself to be comndable."
"Do you intend to cultivate Lin Ci?" Elder Wen questioned.
Qiao Rui nodded, "Yes, he has great potential."
Elder Wen didn’t say anything further, which slightly comforted Qiao Rui.
"Handle Lin Ci’s matters on your own; I won’t interfere. However, the performance of Song Muyu is very disappointing," Elder Wen expressed so discontent.
Qiao Rui pressed her lips, "Grandfather, Muyu just couldn’t see clearly for a mont. She’s already co to her senses."
"She’s co to her senses?" Elder Wen snorted coldly, his words full of sarcasm and skepticism. "She’s the least rational one."
Qiao Rui understood that Muyu’s recent behavior hadn’t been good, but she still believed Muyu needed ti.
"Grandfather, give Muyu a chance," Qiao Rui said, "I promise this ti, if the acquisition of Song Family’s shares can’t et expectations, I’ll follow your instructions without leniency."
"Rember this, blind loyalty can kill," Elder Wen’s dark eyes were cold as he gazed into the distance with a hint of wistfulness.
Qiao Rui knew that he was reminiscing about the past.
"Grandfather, I understand," Qiao Rui nodded. "Muyu won’t fall behind, I assure you."
Elder Wen cast her a strict gaze, "You can manage those you bring yourself; I won’t interfere much. Since you’ve chosen Pei Liyan, I’ll state that I can refrain from interfering, but your first child must bear the surna Wen."
