The two were stunned but quickly understood, smiling. "Alright, does the young mistress need a driver to take her?"
"No need." Qiao Rui said, "I’ve found an assistant, who will also be my dedicated driver from now on."
Uncle Feng and Mrs. Feng exchanged glances, looking worried. "Is the person trustworthy?"
"She’s reliable," Qiao Rui replied.
"Actually, young mistress, our family already has drivers. There’s no need to go and hire soone else," Mrs. Feng voiced her concerns about the potential unreliability of outsiders.
"Mrs. Feng, she’s an older sister from my countryside hotown. She’s a good person and will also be my assistant moving forward."
"Oh, since she’s an older sister from the countryside, soone you grew up with, she should be trustworthy," Uncle Feng chuckled and said, "Young mistress is kind-hearted and values relationships."
Qiao Rui smiled faintly. "Not exactly. The main reason is that I trust her."
Her words carried dual anings.
Both Uncle Feng and Mrs. Feng froze for a mont and then nodded in agreent.
Clearly, ever since the young mistress was taken to the family’s old estate by the old madam’s people last ti, while the young mistress didn’t hold them responsible outwardly, she already harbored a bit of unease internally. These words were sowhat revealing.
The people she trusted would be those she supported all the way.
Qiao Rui quickly finished her breakfast. As she stepped out, Gai Yin was already waiting at the door.
She was driving a Maybach worth over three million—exuding opulence.
Upon seeing Qiao Rui step out, Gai Yin imdiately got out of the car and opened the rear door. "President Qiao, please."
Qiao Rui smiled. "Sister Yin, very impressive."
Gai Yin was wearing a black blazer with a white camisole. The two of them together had an air sowhat akin to the black-and-white wardens of ancient folklore.
Before they could get into the car, another car stopped beside them, and as the window rolled down, Qiao Xiang’s face appeared.
Qiao Rui noticed her complexion looked poor. Though makeup hid a lot of imperfections, there were still visible signs of puffiness on her face.
Moreover, her fingers were covered with adhesive bandages.
Those must be injuries from when she was at Liancheng—her wounds had yet to heal.
"You’re back?" Qiao Xiang greeted her. Though her expression was sour, she refrained from saying anything unpleasant.
Qiao Rui nodded. "Are you heading to work?"
"Yes!" Qiao Xiang nodded again, glancing up and down at Qiao Rui and Gai Yin, as well as their car, then asked, "Where are you heading?"
"To the Qiao Family," Qiao Rui answered.
Qiao Xiang looked surprised. "Who is this?"
"My assistant," Qiao Rui explained without hesitation.
Qiao Xiang froze for a mont, then raised her voice slightly. "Are you really going back to the Qiao Family to take over the business?"
"Yes," Qiao Rui said calmly. "At the very least, soone has to clean up the ss left behind after the uncles ruined things so badly, or else you won’t be able to get your six hundred million back."
Qiao Xiang frowned, letting out a soft chuckle. "I advise you to know your limits. Do you even understand strategic planning for large projects? Be careful not to squander Pei Liyan’s eight hundred million too."
"Thank you for the reminder, big sister," Qiao Rui replied with a faint smile. "You may leave now."
Qiao Xiang furrowed her brows, a little impatient. "I’m giving you so friendly advice. Don’t think that just because you know a bit of martial arts for brawling, you can survive in the corporate world. This isn’t your village’s turf war; the business world is a battlefield without smoke."
Qiao Rui, seeing her attempt to caution, laughed lightly and said, "Big sister, I genuinely thank you for your advice this ti. You’re right, but I won’t change my mind."
"Hmph!" Qiao Xiang sneered. "You’re completely clueless! Forget it—go embarrass yourself if you want. Don’t co complaining later when reality slaps you in the face."
Qiao Rui rely gave a faint smile.
Qiao Xiang rolled up her window and drove off.
Only then did Qiao Rui get into her car.
Inside the car, Gai Yin glanced at Qiao Rui through the rearview mirror while driving.
Qiao Rui appeared calm, as though the earlier incident had never occurred.
Inwardly, Gai Yin admired her. The Young Master was becoming increasingly composed.
"President Qiao, that Miss Qiao from earlier held you in great contempt."
"It’s alright," Qiao Rui replied with a smile. "It’s better than before. Previously, she looked down on even more."
Gai Yin was visibly stunned. "You still tolerate that?"
"It makes for good entertainnt—quite fun, actually," Qiao Rui chuckled indifferently. "Don’t worry; I won’t be easily bullied."
"You haven’t lost your sense of humor," Gai Yin laughed as well.
"Sister Yin, is your health fully recovered now?" Qiao Rui asked, still concerned about her injuries from the car accident and whether she’d truly healed.
"I’m fine now," Gai Yin reassured her imdiately. "I’ve returned to my previous state."
"Still can’t recall those mories?" Qiao Rui queried.
Gai Yin shook her head. "No, I really can’t. It’s odd—I feel as if I’ve forgotten sothing very important, yet at the sa ti, it seems like maybe forgetting it is a good thing."
"When you decide you want to rember, we can consult an expert and try hypnosis to see if it jogs your mory," Qiao Rui suggested.
"That’s unnecessary. I’m feeling great right now," Gai Yin said with a smile. "President Qiao, there’s no need to worry about ."
Qiao Rui gazed at her. Despite her words, Qiao Rui still felt that the more Gai Yin avoided recalling the past, the more she might be escaping sothing.
Perhaps those mories were painful for her.
However, since this was a personal matter, Qiao Rui didn’t want to interfere and chose to respect her privacy.
Qiao Family Estate.
Twenty minutes later, their car arrived at the Qiao Family estate.
When the gatekeeper saw Qiao Rui, he was startled and imdiately called the butler.
The Qiao Family butler inford Elder Qiao, and the two of them ca out together to greet her.
Both Elder Qiao and the butler were stunned when they saw the Maybach pull up and Qiao Rui step out in her professional attire.
Elder Qiao’s gaze on her lacked the previous disdain but was not full of warmth either.
Nevertheless, he maintained a polite deanor toward her.
He said, "Qiao Rui, impressive—the new car?"
"Yes, Grandpa," Qiao Rui replied, glancing at Elder Qiao. "Grand and imposing, isn’t it?"
"It’s quite nice, but three million isn’t a small amount. Although I know you have eight hundred million at your disposal, money shouldn’t be spent carelessly. Investnt projects are still on the horizon," Elder Qiao said.
"Oh!" Qiao Rui paused for a mont—the old man assud she’d spent three million from Pei Liyan’s eight hundred million to buy the car.
Elder Qiao had already concluded that this was the case—that Qiao Rui had used their investnt funds for her Maybach.
He was clearly displeased and added, "While you have the right to use this money, I feel the need to remind you that your actions should be planned. Don’t play the part too early."
"You’re right, Grandpa," Qiao Rui said gently and obediently. "I have indeed been playing the part."
Elder Qiao furrowed his brow and glanced at Gai Yin, his displeasure visible in his eyes. "That young lady—is she the assistant you hired?"
"Yes, Grandpa. My assistant, Gai Yin," Qiao Rui confird.
"Ha!" Elder Qiao chuckled coldly. "You’ve already started hiring assistants before even taking the position?"
"Indeed," Qiao Rui replied. "If you find this inappropriate, Grandpa, I can simply not take the position at all—or invest the funds. How about that?"
"Qiao Rui," Elder Qiao tapped his cane on the ground with authority, his voice heavy. "Are you trying to threaten ?"
"Grandpa, how could this be a threat?" Qiao Rui replied, her face serious. "This is clearly a warning."
