Qiao Rui looked at Pei Liyan with a complex expression. He really seed to have the intention of confronting Ruirui.

Why would he have that thought?

Could it be that he’s already started suspecting?

If that’s really the case, wouldn’t her plan fall through?

Qiao Rui’s gaze flickered, her eyes narrowed slightly, and then she spoke one word at a ti: "I had soone take these photos. It has nothing to do with anyone else."

Pei Liyan froze, "You followed ?"

Qiao Rui nodded, "Yes, I followed you."

"Since you followed , shouldn’t that an you trust !" Pei Liyan said in a deep voice.

Qiao Rui blinked, "You went to soone else’s house. How could I trust you?"

"No!" Pei Liyan suddenly shook his head, staring intently at Qiao Rui, "How did you follow ? Did you personally follow , or did soone else follow?"

These photos were taken from unusual angles.

So were taken from the driver’s side window, and others from the passenger side window.

These were two distinct angles, impossible to achieve by just one person.

Additionally, they were taken using high-definition night vision lenses.

Seeing his expression change slightly, Qiao Rui realized he had guessed that the photos weren’t taken from just one angle.

She had no choice but to respond, "I had soone take them. There’s no way I could do it alone."

"You distrust that much?" Pei Liyan felt as though all his sincerity had been wasted.

He had resisted temptations for her with all his might, yet she still stung him and provoked him.

Thinking about her secretly photographing him, he felt furious.

Since she had people follow him, she should know that nothing inappropriate happened between him and Ruirui.

But how exactly did she have people tail him?

Did she send two people, one on either side? How was it even done on the road?

As he pondered this, Pei Liyan’s expression grew more clouded.

He felt as though all his heartfelt efforts had been fed to the dogs.

Qiao Rui was relentlessly stared down by him, watching as his expression shifted kaleidoscopically, with his chest rising and falling in fury—he was truly angry.

Qiao Rui swallowed a mouthful of saliva, her expression flustered.

In this matter, she had indeed played him, knowing she was in the wrong.

Hesitating for a mont, she said, "I believe you now."

"You say you believe now—were you just playing earlier?" Pei Liyan asked coldly, "Do you always think that you can say a couple of good words to , and that’ll make everything fine?"

"No!" Qiao Rui shook her head. "It’s just because you have a record, so I couldn’t trust you easily!"

"And don’t you have a record too?" Pei Liyan countered, "I’m upfront about my past. What about you? Have you ever been fully honest with ?"

Qiao Rui was montarily speechless, lips pressed together as she looked at him pitifully.

Seeing her suddenly soft deanor, Pei Liyan frowned. "Don’t look at like that!"

That look made him want to bully her.

But this matter could not be so easily resolved.

"Pei Liyan, starting today, I promise I’ll trust you." Qiao Rui spoke earnestly, "And I won’t take any more photos of you!"

Just as Pei Liyan was about to respond, his phone rang.

He glanced at it and saw that the call was from Fang Mo.

He gave Qiao Rui a sharp look, his gaze piercing. "Do you think the way I’ve treated you would make you happy? Can you switch perspectives, see it from my side?"

Qiao Rui imdiately lowered her head, refusing to et his eyes.

Looking at her pitiful appearance, Pei Liyan’s anger remained hard to dispel.

Not bothering to engage further with Qiao Rui, he answered the call directly.

"President, we’ve identified a suspicious point. Please step out for a mont!" Fang Mo’s voice ca through the phone.

Pei Liyan froze for a mont and said in a low voice, "Alright, I’ll be there right away."

He hung up and looked at Qiao Rui with a grim expression. "I need to take care of sothing. Wait for to co back."

Qiao Rui nodded. "Okay, go ahead. I promise not to leave!"

"Take so ti to reflect on this. Tell , how have I treated you?"

Qiao Rui froze for a mont, blinking as she looked at him.

Reflecting on it, he’d been truly good to her.

But her inability to trust him stemd from the fact that he’d shared a night of passion with Rui Qing, then spent longing nights in Xinyang with Ruirui, only to finally choose her after discovering she wasn’t the naive girl he thought she was.

Although all three identities were her own, she still felt uneasy inside.

Perhaps it was because the more one desires, the more one demands.

Qiao Rui said, "You’ve been good to . It’s just that our beginning was too dramatic, making feel as though it wouldn’t last, so I’ve been self-protecting all this ti."

"Ha!" Pei Liyan let out a sharp laugh. "So essentially, I’m not worthy of your trust, am I?"

"Then let ask you one question. If I were still the ugly and rustic Qiao Rui, would you have chosen to be with ?"

Pei Liyan froze.

Qiao Rui laughed. "You wouldn’t have. After we got married, you shared a fleeting mont with Ruirui in Xinyang, which, to put it bluntly, was marital infidelity, wasn’t it? Especially considering that you promised mutual respect during marriage!"

Pei Liyan: "..."

This was definitely sothing he was in the wrong about.

Initially, he didn’t expect to actually get together with Qiao Rui, but as they spent more ti together, feelings developed—unforeseen circumstances.

Qiao Rui spoke again, "People are selfish. The lack of a foundation of trust between us is why I overthink. You bla for overthinking, but have you considered that everything I’ve done is simply self-preservation, and you too are not entirely straightforward."

Feeling flustered, Pei Liyan said, "I’ll handle this matter first. We’ll talk more once I’m back!"

"I’ll wait for you!" Qiao Rui replied.

Pei Liyan took a long, deep look at her before finally leaving.

As soon as he left the room, Fang Mo ca up to et him, his tone lowered. "President, you need to check the surveillance footage!"

"Is there sothing wrong?" Pei Liyan imdiately turned to Fang Mo.

"It’s a bit odd," Fang Mo replied. "You’ll understand once you see it!"

The two walked together to Lu Heming’s office.

Lu Heming was alone watching the surveillance. When he saw them enter, he imdiately stood up.

"President Pei, there’s a new developnt."

"Speak!" Pei Liyan walked in, and Fang Mo shut the door behind them.

"Take a look!" Lu Heming turned the computer screen toward him.

Pei Liyan took one look and froze in place.

The footage showed when Qiao Rui had gone to Ludao, and the image suddenly froze.

When the display resud, Qiao Rui was gone.

Pei Liyan imdiately beca alert, "You’re saying that when Qiao Rui left, the footage cut off entirely?"

"Yes!" Lu Heming nodded. "I just felt this was too strange. The interruption lasted about six minutes. Last ti Madam left, there was also a break in the footage. We’ve since reinforced the network’s firewalls."

"Your conclusion?" Pei Liyan pressed again.

"Please watch the rest first," Lu Heming gestured to the later portion of the video.

Pei Liyan patiently watched the footage.

This ti, the screen showed when he and Ruirui returned, Jiang Jinfeng and Qi Yun were leaving Ludao. They got into their car.

Ruirui also exited the car and got into theirs.

Not long after, the footage froze again.

This ti, the interruption lasted about five minutes.

Following that, Qiao Rui appeared in a taxi at the entrance.

The timing of it all seed oddly coincidental.

"Ruirui, Qiao Rui!" Pei Liyan’s gaze suddenly tightened, his voice deep. "I understand now."
