"Auntie said your sister is fine, so you shouldn’t worry too much," Shen Shuyi whispered to Song Xun, who seed distracted at the edge of the gathering.
Song Xun’s face froze, and his frost-like eyes glanced at Shen Shuyi, his complexion turning dark and grim.
In a low voice, he said, "She knows her limits and usually wouldn’t leave her seat without reason."
Shen Shuyi was taken aback, tugged at her lip, and managed a sweet smile, saying, "People in love might act impulsively!"
Song Xun’s expression imdiately turned grave.
Shen Shuyi’s heart tightened with fear, her hands trembling.
After looking at her for a few seconds, Song Xun asked coldly, "What are you trying to suggest?"
"I’m not suggesting anything," Shen Shuyi quickly denied.
Song Xun, no longer interested in listening, said impassively, "It’s ti to toast."
After that, his face remained stern, never again showing a smile.
Mrs. Song looked at Song Xun several tis, each ti with a sigh.
Song Huaisan was also frustrated, complaining to Mrs. Song, "He’s becoming more and more out of line!"
"Stop talking, who knows what else he’ll do," Mrs. Song remained composed. "Let’s just finish the engagent banquet first."
The engagent banquet continued.
It didn’t last much longer, and at its conclusion, Pei Liyan led Qiao Rui and He Zheng, along with a group of people, to bid farewell to Song Xun and Shen Shuyi.
As they were leaving, Song Xun whispered to Pei Liyan, "Today’s event was too quiet. The Chen Family and Shi Family didn’t choose to act during the banquet, be careful on your way ho."
Pei Liyan nodded and advised Song Xun in a whisper, "We’re not the most in danger, it’s Miss Song and Qi Yun who are truly at risk."
Song Xun’s eyes tightened, and he said coldly, "They can take care of themselves."
Pei Liyan, understanding, nodded knowingly. "Farewell."
"Until next ti."
After seeing the guests off, Song Xun returned to the banquet hall to handle the aftermath. He glanced inadvertently at the place where Song Muyu had been sitting.
There, a few servers were whispering sothing among themselves.
Song Xun paused, walked over, and asked in a deep voice, "What’s the matter?"
The servers imdiately stood up straight, "Nothing, Mr. Song, we are just cleaning up the tables and chairs."
Song Xun’s gaze fell upon the bloodstain on the seat, and his eyes instantly narrowed.
So that was why there had been so much blood, and why she had left the table mid-way through.
Could a nstrual period result in that much blood loss?
Song Xun frowned, a cold frost enveloping his figure.
Frightened, the servers hurried to replace the seat cushion, cleaning and wiping where necessary.
Song Xun watched the cushion being taken away, motionless like a statue, standing there a long ti without moving.
After Shen Shuyi saw off her relatives, she returned to find Song Xun still standing at the place where Song Muyu had sat, immobile.
He stood for as long as she watched.
Finally, Shen Shuyi summoned the courage to approach him.
In a soft voice, she said, "Song Xun, all the relatives have left; our parents are calling us over."
Song Xun snapped back to reality, giving her a chilly glance.
Then, without saying a word, he walked away.
His indifferent and cold deanor was hard to believe from a man who’d just beco engaged, a fiancé to his fiancée.
The servers couldn’t help but be curious.
Shen Shuyi was taken aback, quite embarrassed. She glanced at the servers subconsciously and quickly followed Song Xun.
"Mr. Song clearly doesn’t love Miss Shen, right?" soone whispered.
"Definitely not, with his attitude so cold."
"Huo Chenxi made a scene and only got a kiss, but he never said he loved Miss Shen."
"Then Miss Shen is truly pitiful."
"It’s quite obvious that Miss Shen is really throwing herself at him!"
The servers murmured among themselves, each adding their own comnts.
Shen Shuyi could vaguely hear so of their words, her face growing even more unsightly. She wanted to chase after Song Xun desperately, yet found that no matter how fast she chased, she couldn’t catch up.
In the car.
Pei Liyan remained silent throughout.
Qiao Rui also didn’t speak.
On the way back to Ludao, it was very quiet.
Today, I didn’t see Lu Heming; it seed like he hadn’t co to attend the engagent banquet either.
After the car arrived in Ludao, Pei Liyan didn’t go out, he went straight into the hotel suite.
It wasn’t until there were only the two of them in the suite that Qiao Rui, seeing he hadn’t spoken up, asked, "Worried about sothing?"
Pei Liyan looked up at her and said, "No."
"Oh!" Qiao Rui didn’t press further.
Pei Liyan then said, "I need to step out for a bit."
"Where to?" Qiao Rui asked instinctively.
After asking, she realized that it seed like she was being a bit too nosy.
"Oh, just asking casually, you don’t have to answer."
Pei Liyan said, "To Liu Garden!"
Qiao Rui was startled, then imdiately composed herself and questioned, "What place is that?"
"Ruirui’s turf, I want to go have a look," Pei Liyan said.
Qiao Rui looked at him, his gaze deeply fixed on her, without saying a word.
Facing Qiao Rui’s slightly puzzled eyes, Pei Liyan’s low voice resonated, "Do you trust ?"
Qiao Rui was even more stunned. "Do you think I don’t trust you?"
Pei Liyan remained silent, accepting it by default.
Qiao Rui said, "You’re saying all this as an explanation to , right?"
Pei Liyan nodded.
"Oh, then go ahead!" Qiao Rui suddenly smiled, very generously waving her hand.
Pei Liyan’s sharp gaze fixed intently on Qiao Rui’s eyes.
"Go ahead!" Qiao Rui repeated. "I trust you!"
"What’s the foundation of trust?" Pei Liyan asked in return.
"You have so much money with !" Qiao Rui said.
"Money can’t asure everything."
"But I believe that a man who is even reluctant to spend money is even less worthy of asurent."
"So I’m worth asuring in your eyes?"
"Yes!" Qiao Rui answered cleanly, without a hint of hesitation.
She quietly t Pei Liyan’s profound gaze.
"What if I hadn’t given you those eight hundred million?"
Stung in the heart, Pei Liyan still managed a smile at her frank answer, and his normally cold face softened slightly.
"You won’t not give it," Qiao Rui was so certain. "Because you also want to recoup the previous cost, and of course, you also want to enslave !"
At her words, Pei Liyan’s thin lips slightly curled up, "You’re right, I want to enslave you, so what’s your answer?"
"Things will progress naturally, the work will be accomplished without effort," Qiao Rui said with a smile.
Pei Liyan raised his eyebrows slightly, "You truly are a clever girl, knowing how to refuse without losing asure!"
Qiao Rui smiled. "Hurry and go, you’re probably going there for Miss Song and Miss Qi’s safety, aren’t you?"
Pei Liyan gave her a deep look, "I’ll have Si Ran accompany you!"
"Okay!" Qiao Rui didn’t refuse.
After Pei Liyan left, Si Ran ca to find her.
Qiao Rui told Si Ran she would take a nap in the afternoon and then went inside, never leaving again.
Liu Garden.
When Pei Liyan arrived, he hadn’t yet disembarked when he saw Ruirui.
She got out of the car, and when she saw him, her fine eyebrows lifted.
"Mr. Pei, what a coincidence."
"You’re in Liancheng?" Pei Liyan said gravely.
"Yes," her voice was a bit cold and sowhat hoarse.
"Since you’re in Liancheng, why didn’t you attend Song Xun’s engagent banquet?" Pei Liyan retorted.
She smiled, her voice growing chill, "Why should I give face to soone who stirred things up and then abandoned them?"
