"But," the next second, the man helped her up and looked towards the driver in front, commanding in a deep voice, "Drive more steadily."
The driver apologized repeatedly, "I’m sorry, President, Miss Rui."
Pei Liyan took Qiao Rui back to the seat she had been sitting in.
His face was serious, void of any superfluous expressions.
His deanor clearly set a limit, just right.
He was drawing a clear line.
Qiao Rui was sowhat surprised.
As she looked towards Pei Liyan, she didn’t forget to respond to the driver upfront. "It’s okay, it was my fault for not sitting properly."
anwhile, Pei Liyan remained composed as if what just happened had nothing to do with him.
The driver beca even more cautious.
Qiao Rui glanced at Pei Liyan and, seeing him with tightly pursed lips, she smiled slightly and asked, "Mr. Pei, are you alright?"
Pei Liyan frowned. If he had not misunderstood, Ruirui was flirting with him.
Just now, she could have avoided colliding with him, yet she didn’t.
It was intentional.
Why?
Without a change in expression, Pei Liyan looked at her and said, "What could be wrong with ?"
Qiao Rui shrugged, "I didn’t crush you, did I?"
As she spoke, she boldly glanced at a certain area of the man’s trousers, an audacious look in her eyes.
Pei Liyan smiled, not quite smiling, "Of course, I must thank Miss Rui for showing rcy."
Caught by his thinly-veiled sarcasm, Qiao Rui was montarily taken aback. It seed the man had realized her actions were intentional.
Yes, they were indeed intentional.
Qiao Rui smiled and graciously accepted the conversation, "No need to be polite, Mr. Pei."
Pei Liyan said no more, turning his head to look out the car window, his thoughts unknown to anyone.
Soon, Qingcheng Restaurant arrived.
Qiao Rui prepared to get out of the car.
Pei Liyan also got out, politely and courteously escorting her.
"Do you have any other matters, Mr. Pei?" Qiao Rui saw him follow her out and, in turn, smiled coyly, full of allure. "Are you coming upstairs with ?"
Pei Liyan paused, eting her beautiful eyes and said nothing.
Qiao Rui continued to probe, "How about staying here tonight?"
Pei Liyan snorted softly, "You an, spend the night together, you and ?"
Qiao Rui was unabashed, "Interested?"
Pei Liyan half-squinted, his gaze fixed on Qiao Rui’s eyes, as if contemplating the truthfulness of her words.
Qiao Rui also gazed at him, their eyes locked.
Both had sharpness in their eyes, keen and incisive.
Both were testing the waters.
After a few seconds of contemplation, Pei Liyan lightly smiled. "Sorry, Miss Rui, it’s late."
"Oh?" Qiao Rui raised an eyebrow. "Does Mr. Pei an to reject ?"
Pei Liyan spoke gravely, "Yes, Miss Rui."
At his words, Qiao Rui asked again, "May I know the reason?"
"Returning to family," Pei Liyan didn’t conceal.
"You an, to be with your wife?" Qiao Rui asked.
Pei Liyan nodded.
"That’s really strange."
"There’s nothing surprising here," said Pei Liyan casually. "Previously, with my wife, I didn’t think too much. Now, I plan to take it seriously since she’s the one I chose."
"I wish Mr. Pei and your wife a bright future," Qiao Rui said as she looked at Pei Liyan.
Pei Liyan pursed his lips and nodded lightly. "Miss Rui, I wish you the sa, a future as bright."
Qiao Rui was in no hurry to enter Qingcheng Restaurant and continued smiling at the man. "I hope Mr. Pei can truly see it through."
Pei Liyan’s eyes deepened, "Of course, I will."
Qiao Rui’s eyes flickered, suddenly thinking of sothing, she said, "By the way, about my friend Muyu, thank you. But regarding Song Xun’s engagent, I won’t be attending. At that ti, I hope Mr. Pei you will look after Muyu."
Pei Liyan smiled faintly, "Because I rejected you, you don’t want to go?"
"Yes, it’s because you rejected , I’m very sad," Qiao Rui blinked, her words a blend of sincerity and jest.
Pei Liyan clearly didn’t believe her. "Miss Rui’s style is always mysterious. Not attending Song Xun’s engagent ceremony in Liancheng—are you sure you’re okay with that?"
"Hehe, Mr. Pei, it seems you’ve co to know better," Qiao Rui laughed. "We’ll see when the ti cos. By the way, will you be bringing your wife?"
Pei Liyan was taken aback; clearly, he hadn’t thought about bringing Qiao Rui. "That—let’s talk about it when the ti cos."
"If you bring your wife, I won’t go," Qiao Rui purposefully said. "After all, I fear eting your wife might lead to accidentally slip up, causing disharmony between you two, that would really be a sin."
"Why do I feel like you don’t want to bring my wife?" Pei Liyan, ever so astute, naturally picked up the underlying aning in her tone.
Though he didn’t know why, he still sensed her reluctance to have him bring his wife.
Qiao Rui’s heart skipped a beat; this man was really sharp, catching even that.
She smiled in denial, "How could that be? Mr. Pei, you misunderstand. I actually hope you would bring your wife!"
"Oh?" Pei Liyan smiled, raising an eyebrow.
"After all, deep down I hope you are a ’wife slave,’ Mr. Pei. That way, it wouldn’t have been in vain to have spent a spring night with you, right?"
Pei Liyan’s eyes narrowed, "Wife slave?"
Qiao Rui said, "To truly love a woman, not minding being her ’slave.’"
Pei Liyan smiled lightly, his interest waning. "Aren’t you going upstairs, Miss Rui?"
Qiao Rui could tell he was growing impatient.
"Let’s part here, Mr. Pei." After speaking, Qiao Rui walked straight into Qingcheng Restaurant.
Pei Liyan watched her retreating figure for a mont, then turned and left.
In the evening, when he returned ho.
As soon as Pei Liyan entered, not seeing Qiao Rui, he looked at Mrs. Feng and asked, "Mrs. Feng, where’s Qiao Rui?"
"The mistress went out in the afternoon, returning right after you, at three o’clock. She should be on the rooftop now."
Pei Liyan paused, then said, "Prepare dinner. I will go upstairs first."
On the rooftop.
As Pei Liyan opened the glass door, he saw Qiao Rui sitting on the swing, leisurely swaying.
Seeing him, she seed a bit surprised as well.
"You’re back?"
"Why are you here?" Pei Liyan walked over to the swing, his tall figure looking down at the girl.
It seed that since the dinner at the Pei Family, after she had grown more beautiful, her whole sense of style had changed.
Becoming beautiful.
Now, she wore an ivory printed pleated long dress, with a very slim waist, and a pair of comfortable mid-heeled shoes, enhancing her slender, straight legs, beautiful and elegant.
"I just realized your house has a swing. This seems like sothing girls would like. How co you have one?" Qiao Rui asked instead of answering.
Pei Liyan raised an eyebrow slightly, sitting beside her, and asked, "So you an to say you like it too?"
"Yeah, I quite like it," said Qiao Rui.
"Don’t say ’your house’; this here is our ho," he stated.
Qiao Rui’s heart trembled, her gaze subconsciously shifting to the man.
He smiled faintly. "Rember that?"
She nodded, sowhat dazed, yet touched. "Okay, our ho."
