In the car to Liancheng, Qiao Rui received the photos and began to flip through them on her phone.
Jiang Jinfeng watched her look at the pictures, glanced over, and imdiately got goosebumps.
He looked at Qiao Rui again, but her face remained unchanged.
"Doesn’t such a gory scene disgust you?" Jiang Jinfeng asked.
Qiao Rui replied, "It is a bit repulsive. This man has hard over a hundred won. So, fearing his wealth, suffered in silence, while others fought back, preferring death over submission, only to be crippled by his n, their bodies and spirits never to heal in this lifeti."
Jiang Jinfeng sighed, "I know, you must have had a compelling reason to issue that order, and it wasn’t just because he crossed Muyu."
Qiao Rui tugged at her lips, "He deserved to die."
Jiang Jinfeng nodded. "Yeah, so n just need to be put in their place."
"A man who can’t control himself deserves to be taken down," Qiao Rui said indifferently, about to put away her phone when a call ca through.
"Young Master, Miss Song has been picked up by us. The speedboat is heading towards Liancheng. Miss Song says she won’t return to the Song Family and wishes to see you first."
"I’ll be in Liancheng in half an hour. You guys go to the villa first; I’ll follow shortly," Qiao Rui instructed solemnly.
"Yes."
Inside the car.
Qiao Rui put down the phone and spoke to Jiang Jinfeng, "Lock down all information. Don’t let Song Xun find Muyu, including signal tracking; make sure Song Xun can’t find her."
"Are you afraid that Song Xun will harm Muyu?" Jiang Jinfeng hesitated.
"Let’s protect her for now. Ultimately, it’s Muyu’s thoughts that matter," Qiao Rui said, "Respect her choice."
After all, matters of the heart were Muyu’s own, and she needed to respect the other person’s decisions.
Twenty-odd minutes later, at the Liu Garden villa in the West Suburb of Liancheng.
The car entered the grand Liu Garden villa, and soone imdiately ca to greet them.
The car window slid down, and Qiao Rui handed out a black naplate.
The attendant spoke respectfully, "Hello, are you here to find Miss Song Muyu?"
"Yes," Qiao Rui replied softly. "I will not et with anyone else. Have all unrelated personnel withdraw imdiately from the inner court to the periter. Liu Garden will not receive guests for so ti."
"Yes," the attendant nodded imdiately, "Please co this way."
The car was allowed in and turned off the main path.
Finally arriving at the innermost point, Qiao Rui parked the car, and she and Jiang Jinfeng stepped into the inside of the Liu Garden villa.
As they entered, only a female server ca to greet them. When she saw Qiao Rui, she was silent but said to Jiang Jinfeng, "Good evening, Mr. Jiang."
Jiang Jinfeng replied with a faint smile, "Good evening, thanks for the hard work."
"It’s no trouble at all," the female server replied with a light smile, her gaze shifting towards Qiao Rui with a hint of suspicion in her eyes.
Qiao Rui’s gaze fell on the server, a smile flashing in her eyes.
The server was imdiately taken aback and exclaid, "Young Master?"
Qiao Rui shrugged. "Qi Yun, you’re getting more dull. Those who enter the Liu Garden villa are naturally our own people."
"If Mr. Jiang hadn’t co with you, I really wouldn’t have dared to guess," the server quickly stood at attention, saluting, "Welco back to the Liu Garden villa, Young Master. Please forgive my ignorance, Qi Yun, for not recognizing you."
"It’s okay, I’m going to see Muyu first," Qiao Rui smiled lightly and headed inside.
"Young Master, Miss Muyu is in the guest room she occupied last ti. She has taken the antidote but needs so more ti to regain her strength."
"I know," Qiao Rui nodded, her clear eyes revealing a hint of solemnity. She then paused and said, "Bring so food; I’m starving. I’ll have the usual, and ask Jiang Jinfeng what he wants."
"I’ll have the usual as well," Jiang Jinfeng smiled. "It’s been a long ti since I’ve been to Liancheng, and I’ve missed it."
"Okay, in half an hour," Qi Yun went to prepare right away.
Qiao Rui knocked on the door, and Song Muyu’s voice ca from inside: "Co in."
Qiao Rui pushed the door and entered.
Upon seeing her, Song Muyu’s eyes imdiately reddened.
She had been slapped several tis by Chen Haimin, her face swollen like a balloon, yet she hadn’t cried at all, but the mont she saw Qiao Rui, her eyes turned red.
"Ruirui."
Qiao Rui, seeing her face swollen almost beyond recognition, was also taken aback and then a trace of annoyance flickered in her eyes, regretting not having been harsher on Chen Haimin.
"Did Chen slap you?" Qiao Rui imdiately sat on the bed and started to examine her body. "Are you hurt anywhere else?"
Jiang Jinfeng, following behind, also saw her swollen, reddened face and was stunned as worry flashed in his eyes. "Damn, did he hit you?"
"It’s okay, just my face. No other places are injured," Song Muyu hurriedly said, not wanting her two friends to worry.
"How many slaps?" Qiao Rui sat down, examining her cheeks closely, where the handprints layered one over another. "Seven slaps on both sides?"
Song Muyu nodded awkwardly, "About seven or eight, I didn’t count. It’s all my fault for not practicing martial arts properly; now I’m paying the price for resisting your urges to train back then."
Seeing her say this, Qiao Rui didn’t have the heart to bla her, only feeling sympathy.
She turned to glance at Jiang Jinfeng.
Jiang Jinfeng imdiately said, "I’ll get so ice packs to put on your face."
"Don’t bother, I don’t feel like icing it," Song Muyu said.
"I’ll ice it for you," Jiang Jinfeng said sternly. "You can’t neglect it, unless you don’t care about your appearance."
Song Muyu looked at him, a hint of grievance in her eyes: "Hey, don’t insult ."
Jiang Jinfeng watched her helplessly. "If you don’t want to scold you, then behave and be more careful in the future."
"Okay, I get it," Song Muyu’s shoulders slumped. "I was wrong."
"Muyu, it’s not your fault this ti," Qiao Rui spoke up for her, comforting: "It’s others who are too greedy."
"Ruirui," Song Muyu broke into tears even without being comforted. "You’re the best, you understand the most."
She sat up and hugged Qiao Rui tightly, sobbing uncontrollably.
Jiang Jinfeng shook his head helplessly and went to find Qi Yun for ice packs.
It wasn’t long before he ca back with an ice bag.
By then, Qiao Rui had already cald her down, and Song Muyu, with her head bowed, said, "I’ve been too disappointing this ti, coming back to see his engagent, and then being targeted by Chen. I guess I’m just a fem fatale, huh? Involved with my brother and still rembered by that bastard."
"If you had chard Song Xun, you would have had the upper hand, but it seems now that it’s Song Xun who holds it," Qiao Rui whispered. "Muyu, Song Xun didn’t co to rescue you at sea. It was Pei Liyan who did."
"Why would Pei Liyan rescue ?" Song Muyu was astonished. "Oh, he’s been in frequent contact with Song Xun these past few days; they seem to be good friends."
Qiao Rui remained silent.
Song Muyu had an epiphany, then laughed at herself. "Ha, I have no place in his heart, I’ve always known. How could he possibly co to save ? He must think I’m a burden."
Qiao Rui placed a hand on her shoulder and said softly, "Maybe he asked Pei Liyan to rescue you."
"Maybe," Song Muyu suddenly laughed, openly admitting, "I’ve given up hope. This ti, completely."
