Eve washed the mushroom in the kitchen sink while cursing Alex in many different curses variations. She didn't like how he could smoothly ask her to make lunch for them as if it was a usual thing.

He had a glib tongue, and she hated how easily she said yes.

'Well, it was a usual thing back then...' Eve recalled when they were still living in a studio apartnt. They were always short on money, so to save so money without having to eat instant ran every day, Eve ca up with many cooking recipes from cheap ingredients. She wasn't the best cook, but everything she made seed to be good for Alex, and Eve was never a picky eater.

Alex tried to help many tis in the kitchen, but he was not a detail-oriented perfectionist like her. It annoyed her whenever he cut the onions in different-level of thickness, or when the potato wasn't peeled perfectly.

Thus, Eve delegated the roles in the kitchen. She cooked for them, and he washed the dishes.

It was such a hard ti for them, yet she preserved those mories like precious gems in her mind, because it was probably the most hopeful period she ever had in her life.

'And all of those mories are filled with him...' Eve lifted her gaze to look from the window. He saw Alex running around with Didi. The dog had such a high energy that the cold autumn temperature didn't even faze him.

However, Alex looked tired despite being athletic, so she guessed that he had been running with the dog for at least a few hours.

'I guess, he needs a good al after burning so much energy,' Eve thought as he continued preparing her usual creamy mushroom and atball soup.

"I'm back!" Alex announced as he opened the door after letting the housekeeper outside to clean his dog. He caught a whiff of a warm, delicious al from the kitchen, and grinned when he saw a big bowl of creamy mushroom soup with atballs at the kitchen countertop. "Oh, slls nice!"

"I just finished making our lunch. Eat while it's hot," Eve instructed as she sat on the countertop and started sipping the soup.

Alex also did the sa. He joined Eve and ate at the kitchen countertop, eating his lunch with relish.

Both of them were so used to eating anywhere but the dining table due to habit when they were still living in a small studio apartnt, so none of them questioned the proper eating manners.

They sat facing each other. Eve sipped the creamy soup twice and ate one atball before stopping.

She was still hungry, but seeing how Alex ate the creamy mushroom soup like a starving boy in the Victorian era made her stop eating and watch him devour the soup in under five minutes instead.

Alex used the spoon to scoop the last drop of soup until the plate was clean. If Eve wasn't sitting in front of him, he would've licked the plate too!

"Damn, that's a good soup," Alex burped once and drank a glass of water. He smiled at Eve and comnted, "You're still the best chef in Arica, huh? Ever plan to switch professions and beco a Celebrity Chef? I can connect you with a TV executive, so you'll have your cooking show."

Eve chuckled, "And what's the show's na would be? Scrap Cooking? Cooking with Leftovers?"

"No, Eve's Dream Kitchen," Alex said. He looked up as he was envisioning his plan. "I'm sure you can inspire won out there with your charm, and I can eat whatever food you make in the TV show every day, right?"

"Can you stop being sappy?" Eve muttered as she lowered her head. She pretended to focus on her atball to hide her smile.

"I an, I can't help it. What man wouldn't try to be sappy to get your attention?" Alex leaned on the chair, staring at Eve, who was busy eating her soup. He thought the mood between them was good, and though it felt too soon, he should just shoot his shot. Eve wouldn't be able to kick him out of his life despite her response anyway.

Hence, Alex took a deep breath and said, "Eve, about our business deal, I—"

"Alright, I'm done," Eve suddenly finished her half-eaten al, and got up from the chair. She chugged a glass of water before saying, "I'll be in my room, working on so projects, so don't bother , at least until dinner."

Alex had no ti to continue his sentence since Eve bolted out of the kitchen and back to her room before he could stop her.

He chuckled mirthlessly, feeling annoyed and amused at the sa ti.

"So, that's the answer, huh?" Alex smiled deprecatingly. "As expected, I was too impatient."

Alex wasn't all that worried about her rejection. He had been playing it soft with her because he thought that showing his genuine joy whenever she was around would be enough to make her lower her guard.

'But you're still the woman I know very well, Evelyn. I know how stubborn you can be. That's why, you should also know how patient I can be, right?'

Alex shifted his gaze to Eve's half-eaten bowl. He picked it up and ate the leftovers until it was clean.

'What a waste of good food. I would pay thousands of dollars to eat this every day,' Alex thought as he ate the last atball.

Once he was done, he put the bowl in the sink and started cleaning the kitchen.

Of course, he had the housekeepers to do that every day. He could even call them to clean it right now.

But Eve already delegated their roles in the kitchen. She cooked for them, and he did the dishes.

So, Mr. Langford, the rising star, the golden spoon, and multi-billion dollar heir of Langford Estate and Company, was humming out a tune while doing the dishes, like the good old days when he still lived with his beloved in that rented studio apartnt.
