"Sumr is just too audacious," Audrey Adler complained with a pout. "Besides, Kenneth wasn’t even in the country that day. If he hadn’t suddenly co back, none of this would have happened."

"She’s my daughter. You’re a mother too, don’t you understand how a parent feels? And let’s not forget Yvonne’s miscarriage. This matter isn’t over yet," Gregory Lancaster said angrily.

Seeing this, Audrey Adler quickly leaned against Gregory Lancaster. "Honey, don’t be angry, okay? Yvonne was just tricked by soone. It won’t happen again. Please don’t let Yvonne face charges. She’s still so young!"

Yvonne Lancaster nodded from the side.

Gregory Lancaster fell into deep thought. He knew Yvonne was still young. How could he bear to let his own daughter go to prison?

The hospital room fell quiet again. Sumr Lancaster said nothing, simply sitting by the bed and quietly peeling apples. Kenneth lay on the bed, opening his eyes from ti to ti to watch her. Every ti he looked, she was peeling yet another apple. The plate beside her was already nearly full.

"Ah!" Startled, Sumr Lancaster shot up, dropping the knife and apple.

At the sound, Kenneth imdiately sat up, grabbing her hand and bringing her finger to his lips to suck on the cut. The sight of the blood-stained knife on the floor sent a sharp pang of fear through Sumr, but his tender care lted the pain away.

Sumr Lancaster stared at him for a long ti. It was only when he looked up at her that she awkwardly turned her head away.

"How could you be so careless? If you want to deal with soone the way you were dealing with that apple, you don’t have to lift a finger. I’ll do it for you."

Sumr turned her head back, staring at him in shock. ’How did he know? I was just imagining that apple was Audrey Adler!’

"Did I guess right?" Kenneth turned her face toward him, forcing her to et his gaze and leaving her no chance to look away.

"Of course not!" Sumr guiltily pushed his hand away and walked to the side. She reached for the chair she had kicked over earlier, but flinched back in pain the mont she touched it.

Kenneth frowned. ’The cut must be deep,’ he thought. He pressed the call button, and a nurse quickly ca and bandaged Sumr’s hand.

After the nurse left, Sumr lay down beside Kenneth, letting him hold her. "When did you investigate all of that?" She truly hadn’t expected him to do so much for her.

"The night you were kidnapped," he said, his gentle voice whispering in her ear.

Sumr wrapped her arms around his waist, snuggling into his embrace. "Kenneth, thank you for doing so much for ." All this ti, she had thought she was the only one holding their relationship together. It felt as if the mont she gave up, they would beco strangers. But now she had an epiphany: neither of them had wronged the other, and nothing was being forced. If both of them hadn’t been putting in the effort, their relationship would have likely fallen apart long ago.

Everyone has monts of weakness, tis when they care too much about what others think. During those tis, words are often unnecessary; quiet companionship is all that’s needed. No matter what unpleasant things had happened between them, they were here for each other now, and that was enough.

Sumr drifted off to sleep in Kenneth’s arms. In her dream, she was in a quaint little town with him, planting champagne roses. And beside them was their adorable son...

Sumr didn’t wake up until the afternoon. When she did, she didn’t see Kenneth. He wasn’t in the bathroom either. Sumr left the room and asked the nurse on duty, who said she had just seen Kenneth at the end of the hall. After a quick "thank you," Sumr hurried off to find him. ’He’s not well, he shouldn’t be wandering around!’
