"You’ll find out when the ti cos. It’s a secret for now."

Sumr Lancaster hung up the phone in disbelief. ’Rich CEOs really can do whatever they want,’ she thought. ’If he keeps ssing with the company like this, am I going to be out of a job soon?’

Finally, evening arrived. Sumr was so busy she didn’t even have ti for dinner before changing into her gown and heading into the venue. The main display stage was still empty.

Dominic Thorne walked toward her, his usual wild and freedom-loving self, with a stunning woman by his side.

"Well, if it isn’t my favorite ’little’ sister-in-law! You look beautiful!"

"What’s with the ’little’? I’m older than you! But I’ll take the complint!" As Dominic approached, Sumr had already noticed the two n behind him. She’d seen one of them at the hospital before but didn’t know his na; he gave off a cold and aloof vibe. The other man, however, was all smiles and seed very approachable.

"Sister-in-law, hello. I’m Sean Murphy." Sean Murphy stepped forward. Wendy Vaughn, who was with them, simply nodded in greeting.

"Hello." After greeting Sean, Sumr kept her eyes on Ronan Jenkins. She found him fascinating!

"Ronan, get over here and say hi!" Sean Murphy unceremoniously pulled Ronan Jenkins in front of Sumr.

Only then did a hint of displeasure appear on Ronan Jenkins’s face.

"It’s alright. We’ve t before, I just didn’t know his na."

"Oh, him? That’s Ronan Jenkins."

"Oh, you should all take your seats." Sumr glanced at her watch. "It’s almost ti."

Dominic Thorne and his group took their seats in the audience, and Sumr observed them from the side. ’That gentle girl must have a crush on Sean,’ she thought. ’You can see the care and adoration in her gaze, and Sean seems to dote on her, too... But what’s the deal with that Ronan Jenkins guy? The dynamic is a bit strange...’ Sumr shook her head. ’A shipper’s brain is always on the job. I really have to stop this. I just got a lecture from Kenneth Yates about it this morning.’

Sumr slapped her own cheek. ’Ah! No, no, I must be overthinking things.’

SNAP. The lights in the venue went out, and a single spotlight landed on the man standing on the display stage.

Sumr rested her chin in her hand and looked up at him. ’No wonder I didn’t see him all afternoon. So this is what he was preparing for.’ He was already extraordinary to begin with; you’d spot him in a crowd in an instant. Today, he was wearing a black Hugo Boss suit, and both its design and style perfectly complented his commanding presence. He’d had his hair specially styled, too. And while he was always ticulous about his appearance, it never looked quite as refined as it did when done by a professional.

The man on stage was captivating the entire audience. If he gave the command, there was no telling how many won present would willingly submit to his every whim without complaint. It was no wonder Reina West was willing to do anything to have him.

Sumr’s mind wandered. ’If I had refused to wish him and Thea Shaw well back then... if I had used Lianne Vance’s favor to forcibly break them up... would I have beco just like Reina West?’ The thought sent a shiver down her spine. She’d witnessed his cruel side before. ’Heh, probably not. At least, we’re happy now. And I believe we’ll stay this happy in the future...’

On stage, Kenneth Yates finished his long and tedious opening remarks, which were, of course, just a series of thank-yous to various people. As dull as it was, Sumr noticed the won in the audience were hanging on his every word. Kenneth Yates usually didn’t bother with such formalities, often skipping them entirely at his own company’s annual galas. But this was an international jewelry exhibition, after all. A certain level of courtesy was required.
