After he left, Sumr Lancaster slowly opened her eyes. She wished ti could stop right at that mont, so the two of them could live this happy, sweet life forever.

That day, Sumr Lancaster once again rode to work in Kenneth Yates’s car. Naturally, she got out before they reached the company building to stop the staff from gossiping about them—not that their relationship was simple, of course.

The company was holding a jewelry exhibition that day, and every departnt was swamped.

"Sumr, what took you so long? Here, take this, and hurry." Serena Monroe intercepted her before she could even get into the office, handing her a file.

Sumr flipped it open and frowned. "Isn’t Reina West in charge of this?" ’The guest list has always been Reina’s responsibility. Why was it given to today?’

"Good news! She’s been suspended," Serena Monroe told Sumr with a conspiratorial wink.

"When? Why?" Sumr asked, surprised. While Reina West might have been arrogant, her competence was undeniable.

"Just now, probably while you were in the elevator. As for the reason, I think President Yates was abusing his power for personal gain."

"Abusing his power? What do you an?"

"Reina West was the one who orchestrated you getting hurt last ti." Serena Monroe crossed her arms and looked at her with a sigh. ’Is this woman always this slow on the uptake?’

"You’re saying Kenneth... oh, I an, President Yates... did this for ?" Sumr’s eyes widened as she pointed to herself. ’We’ve been preparing for this exhibition for half a year! Why fire her at such a critical ti? She has so many responsibilities. Who’s going to complete her work now that she’s gone?’

Serena Monroe tapped Sumr on the forehead. "Girl, could you be any slower!" Sumr just gave her a helpless look.

"Aren’t you happy about this? President Yates fired her!"

"Happy? I’m not happy. How about you help call every single guest on this list? Then I’ll be happy."

"No way," Serena refused. ’Those guests are all rich and powerful. One wrong word with them and you’re finished. Besides, every last one of them is arrogant as hell!’

The mont Reina West arrived at the company that day, she was handed a suspension notice. ’I’ve been doing my job perfectly,’ she fud, ’so why am I being fired?’

「The President’s Office」

"Kenneth, why are you firing ?" Reina West demanded, barging into the President’s Office with the termination notice in her hand.

"Is this how a lady from a prominent family behaves? Barging into soone’s office without permission?" Kenneth Yates didn’t look at her, his gaze fixed on his laptop.

Reina was clearly flustered. She had only co to demand an explanation and hadn’t considered the consequences. "I’m sorry. I’ll be more careful in the future." She lowered her head.

Kenneth Yates slowly stood up and walked to the front of his desk. "There won’t be a ’future.’ I hired you as a director to do your job, not to sche and hurt other people."

"Kenneth, did Sumr Lancaster tell you sothing? Don’t believe her! She’s always been jealous of , so everything she says is a lie!" Reina West frantically grabbed Kenneth’s arm, rambling incoherently.

Kenneth Yates yanked his arm away in disgust. "I don’t need Sumr to tell anything. I already know. Do you want to pull up the security footage for you?"

"Kenneth, are you really going to fire over sothing so trivial? Does the friendship our families have shared for so many years—and the friendship between you and —an less than Sumr Lancaster?" On the verge of a complete breakdown, Reina started to cry.

"Friendship? What friendship is there between us?"

Reina stumbled backward, devastated. She couldn’t believe that Kenneth Yates, the man who had always been as gentle and elegant as a prince since they were children, could say sothing so cruel. His next words, however, plunged her into utter despair.

"If we’re talking about connections, Sumr is my wife. So, you tell , who has the deeper connection here?"
